I Just Called Border Patrol And They Arrested This Mexican And They

Can you be arrested in Mexico if your wanted in the US?

I was watching a show on tv and saw a guy arrested in Mexico who was a fugitive in the U.S. but on a different episode they were not allowed to because of extradition laws. So if you a fugitive in the US and move to Mexico and commit no crimes in Mexico can you be arrested there?

Does Mexico have a border patrol?

No. In Mexico immigration is a public service, not a law enforcement organization. This site - Instituto Nacional de Migración - has an explanation and background, in English, of the job of the Mexican Migratory institute and its legal framework (go tot he home page for all info on visas, stay requirements and enforcement - top corner has an English button). At border checkpoints there are guards and clerks who are trained in immigration law, but there is no "border patrol", nor a need for one.In highly populated or considered dangerous places, where people with guns are needed, the army or local police takes over the patrolling part of the job. If they grabbed someone "sneaking", he or she would probably just be taken to the checkpoint for proper processing (and arrest if it turns out to be a wanted criminal) but not arrested on the spot. Mexico for the most part welcomes immigrants, has no quotas and the migratory procedures are not onerous.Having said that, plain-clothes inspectors do exist. They operate mostly in Southern Mexico, and focus on obtaining and deporting, on immigration grounds, dangerous criminals, so they are more like the FBI than a border patrol per se, they just use the migratory law to do their job preemptively (keep foreign criminals off Mexico) by working with local police and hitting the pavement at immigration hotspots. They don't round up immigrants or conduct raids though, they have specific profiles of specific people in mind.

Will a custom agent border patrol arrest someone with misdemeanor warrants?

YES

If you have a warrant and there is extradition you will be picked up if the originating agency still wants you. I have seen towns down the road refuse extradition on murderers and Las Vegas extradite for unpaid parking tickets (don't cheat Vegas out of money) If it is a misdemeanor just get it cleared up.

Contrary to others beliefs we do a lot more than Customs Laws, and our authority under border search is pretty expansive, about the only thing we can't do is ask you who you voted for.

Really? A thumbs down? Like I don't know what I am talking about? I just arrested someone yesterday on a misdemeanor warrant. So I am pretty sure this is the right answer

Would I, as a U.S. citizen, be arrested by Mexican police if I crossed the border into Mexico?

No.Well if you commit a crime yes, but just for crossing the border no.There is a buffer zone all along the border that allows you to enter the country without being asked for papers, suppossing you don’t look suspicious at the border. And by “suspicious” I don’t necesarily mean shady or even mean, I reffer to contraband, things that people bring into Mexico to sell, skipping customs and not paying import fees. In the buffer zone, this is more of a priority than checking passports. However, if you decide to enter farther into Mexico, you WILL be asked for your mexican visa, there are checkpoints at roads and airports. To get a mexican visa all you have to do is walk into a customs office and say you want one.EDIT - I hadn’t read the “neither of us have passports” part. Yeah in that case you’d be detained, but not for being US Cititzens, for not having a way of identifying. It would be the same if you were from anywhere else.

Can Trump legally send US troops to the border with Mexico? If he can, will they have arrest capabilities or what, in general, can they do or can they not do?

The President is the Commander in Chief of the armed forces under the constitution so he can give any lawful order to the troops under his command he chooses. With that out of the way, can they arrest people? To answer your question in short, no. On 18 June 1878 a law was signed into effect called the Posse Comitatus Act. While yes it is read in conjunction with the Insurrection Act and was updated a few times, basically it says the Army and Air Force can not be used for domestic law enforcement (in most situations). It does not apply tot he National Guard however. For a reach back into the minds of those who made the law. It was created at the end of reconstruction when the former confederate states were “occupied” (i used quotes because depending on your point of view if you feel they were peace keepers or occupiers) by federal troops. This new law would of course make reoccupation and resuming reconstruction as it had been very difficult.

Crossing the US Mexican boarder illegally $5,000 fine?

Well I work as border patrol and well actually you could get a 500-5000$ dollar fine it depends....its not ignored its just so many illegal immigrants crossing its to hard to handle so some cross and dont get caught the longer you've been here the more the fine will be.

Is there a law against being a border patrol officer if your parents are illegal?

We have Mexicans attempting to stop other Mexicans from entering? A conflict of interest may arise!

If a criminal crosses the border to Canada, can the American police pursue them or is it out of their jurisdiction?

This happened in 2009. Maine State Police were chasing a suspected drunk driver who crossed the Canadian border into the province of New Brunswick in an area where there was no Customs officers housed. The police captured and arrested the driver — a Canadian — on Canadian soil. The Canadian authorities charged the man with illegal re-entry into Canada, and the American authorities disciplined the arresting officer with an unpaid suspension for illegally crossing into Canada.I don’t know exactly what happened to the driver, but my best guess would be that the case was thrown out. From a legal standpoint, this was a completely illegal arrest. The driver could be charged with failure to stop for the police inside the United States, but once he entered Canada the drunk-driving charge most likely would not have stuck.Trooper cited for chase into Canada
