I Love Acting But Don

I suck at acting, but I love it.?

I'm 15 and when I'm home I act out so many things like scripts. I feel like I'm doing good because I actually get into character and enjoy doing it. (I know it sounds weird)

Anyways, we have drama class in school, it's my last period and when I'm acting in that class I feel like I suck. When we're performing my skits I freeze up pretty much and when I'm acting I won't look at anyone in the audience and I look down and I stumble my words so they sound bad. I also don't show any emotion and when I try to it comes out really bad.

When I'm practing with my group i do okay, when I'm alone I do pretty good, and when I'm on stage I do terrible.

I don't know what to do, does this mean I can never be an actress because I suck at it?

I'm starting classes soon but I don't know if it's going to help me or not.

I love acting.....but?

I love acting but i feel like i don't know enough. Im not talking about technical stuff but i feel i don't know enough about actors/actresses, movies and plays. I really don't watch much tv, i like watching plays but its sad to say i don't really have time to watch plays because of work and thinks in life i suppose. Whenever i tell someone i want to act, they ask me if ive seen some movie that ive never seen before(that i should have seen like a classic), and they ask me well how am i supposed to be an actress if i don't know the names of movies, actors or plays...i don't know. I know a lot of actors, i just don't know they're names, if i see their face i know who they are....i just feel like i need to study actors. I know lots of people do to....i guess find they're acting style, but when i "act" i act like myself only i put myself in the characters shoes. I act as though it were happening to me..not imitate what ive seen in movies or television. I don't know what do you guys think?
Oh, i know someone will ask me but i don't really have a favorite actor, movie or play....i don't know, i just feel weird that i don't have one and i want to act.

I don’t know if acting is for me.. do I love it or do I just want it for the fame?

I’ve always known I’ve wanted to do something in my life really special, not just sit in an office all day and plug in numbers. I got more and more fascinated with acting but I don’t have the guts or confidence to do it.. ik ik “just try it” but the theater kids are really mean and I just don’t know how to progress. Tbh I don’t even know if acting is for me... if it’s something I love to do or something I see for fame and that’s the real problem.

I love acting, but I don't know if I can cope with the pressure. Any advice?

If you like it do it! I was the poorest student in the class in my schooling.now I am yet to complete my graduation.I did what I like and now I am top 10 in a class of hundred each having distinction in their schooling. Final year is meant for project, every body is doing in groops and I am doing a project on my own.what I mean to say is don't give a fuck to what you don't like, just follow your dreams.becauseSUCCESS WILL NOT BE A SUCCESS, FOLLOWING YOUR DREAMS WILL BE A SUCCESS.

I like acting but im shy ? ? ?

Haha, I used to be terribly shy, too---then theatre hit me! :)

Well, I don't know what your community is like, or if you're still in school or anything like that. If you are, then definitely sign up for one of the beginner's theatre classes. Those will be mostly vocabulary building (you'll learn what "cross down left" means, teehee), fundamental stuff that really helps in the long run. You might get some easy assignments in that class, depending on the teacher.

If you really want to get involved after that, try out for a production, and specify that you're a) willing to play a part that you're not specifically auditioning for and b) willing to take a backstage position. That way, you show the director/producer that you're flexible and openminded, and, even if you don't get a part, you can still work backstage and get the insider's scoop on what a real production is like.

Either way, break a leg!

I love acting, but i have such bad stage fright. help?

Ah stage fright....just keep practicing in front of the mirror, or even your family. Maybe even going to your friends house and practice in front of them to get used to having other people watch you. And when your on stage, don't let the stage fright get to you. Even though your nervous, no one can tell but you. Being nervous even helps you project your voice sometimes. Oh and when performing, just think of you acting in front of your family or friends and everything will be ok , and think about it, get it done and over with. Act as if everyone out there were looking up to you. Good luck :)

I'm 15 (UK) and I love acting but I can't sing. Do I have any chance? Can I get into a drama school?

Of course you can. There are many different types of theatre schools but let's focus on two broad categories: those that focus on becoming a musical theatre performer, and those that focus primarily on acting.A musical theatre school focuses on singing and dance with some acting or an equal split between all three disciplines. They may of course have other classes. You would probably have some difficulty getting into one of those schools unless you really focused on your singing and dance. If you wanted to get into a school that focuses on acting, then there are many top theatre schools that do that. They may or may not have some singing as a part of their teaching, but if they do, the goal isn't to turn their students into musical theatre performers but to broaden their skill overall. Some may even include a song in their audition process but again, they're looking for talented actors (not singers). These schools primary focus is acting and that means that they'll tend to attract top acting teachers and you'll be fully immersed in learning and practicing of acting. So in most cases, you'll be a more skilled actor attending a school like this than a school that had a focus on musical theatre. You would probably focus fairly equally on classes in acting, movement and voice (but this would likely be about your speaking voice not singing). Many other supplemental classes may be taught or be a part of the above classes such as stage combat, text work, Text analysis, clown or mask, perhaps a theory class, film, maybe even some basic dance or singing. The focus though is for them to turn you into an actor that is connected to his voice, body, imagination, intellect and emotions so that you can convincingly portray a character in a variety of different styles of acting for stage and film (modern and contemporary, Greek comedy and tragedy, Shakespeare, restoration etc). The UK has some incredible schools. You'll need to do some research and find out what their focus is and what attracts you. They may even have a curriculum on their website. I'd start by going online and reading what you can. Then find out what you don't know and call them and ask them what kind of student are they looking for etc. There are probably many quality schools but here is a list of top acting schools in the UK:Best Drama Schools in UK: Top 15 - Acting in London

I am 17 years old and I love acting, I love stage. But I am afraid that my parents will deny my passion and I am not good looking. What should I do?

I read a story once (probably in Reader's Digest), that a young Donald Sutherland had asked his mother, "I'm not very good looking, am I?", to which his mother replied, "No, but your face has a lot of character."He started acting on the stage and moved into film in 1962; since then, Donald Sutherland has racked up 181 acting credits (as listed on IMDB). Of the last 53 years, 1982 is the ONLY year he isn't shown as having a role in a film or TV production. Clint Eastwood is also rumoured to have been told, early in his career, that he wasn't attractive enough to be a movie star. He has 68 acting credits from 1955 to present, and like Sutherland, there's very little time in there that he hasn't had roles; a lot of those gaps are filled with producing (42), directing (38), soundtrack (29), and composing credits, capped off with four Oscars, five Golden Globes, and assorted others.Moral of the story here: looks aren't everything in acting. Rather, "good looks" aren't everything - both of these gentlemen have unique, character looks that have served them well through a wide range of roles. More importantly, both are incredible actors, which is the one thing that will keep bringing the parts to your door. Finally, I'd suggest giving this a quick read: Ashlie Atkinson's answer to How is casting handled for roles that call for an unattractive person? How do the actors feel about it? - as I commented to Ashlie, "I looked up your IMDB... I must admit to not recognizing any of the roles, but it's quite the impressive body for work for only 10 years in the business. Looks be damned, you don't get that much work if you aren't good at your craft."Be good at what you do, and the work will come.

Why do people like acting?

A2A.It’s hard to articulate. I act because I have always known I’m an actor. It’s really that simple. But here are some things I love about it:Every role, every story, every performance is different. It’s about connecting and collaborating with other people — in the cast, crew, and audience. Many of the things that make a good actor also make a good person — eye contact, listening, empathy, patience. With every new role, I learn and grow as a person. There’s a LOT of laughter.I’ve never felt anything better than the experience of ‘flow’ that happens every once in a while during a performance when I am just completely taken over by the character. When everyone is working well together, the cast and crew are all fully present and focused and working together moment by moment to tell the same story, it’s profoundly satisfying.I love the adrenaline rush. People talk about getting nervous, and that happens once in a while, but at this point I have such positive associations with the rush of energy that happens before an audition or performance that I crave it. I went skydiving once, and once we landed and my friends asked how I felt, I said I felt like I just got off stage. When I don’t act for long stretches, I get restless and anxious and have to find some way to scare myself or put myself under pressure to get that excess energy out.
