I Love To Become A Dancer But My Parent Want Me To Finish My Mechanical Engineering School. What

I'm 24, a jobless mechanical engineering graduate. Am I a failure? Can I excel in life? Excel, for me, means building a house for my parents, living life like any other successful person, with a few more comforts than I have currently.

Here, I would like to share my experience.I am B.tech in Mechcanical engineering appeared in year 2017, in year back (2017), when I graduated, there was a bad financial condition at my home, my family was suffering with financial issues, and that was my final year of B tech, after that I was about to get a job was must for me, to not to support my financial conditions, as well as also to support my family by not asking money to them.In July, 2017 i get job in one Small scale industry was producer of Die plates by using VMC machines in Ludhiana, PB. I worked as operator, and did 12 hours x 6 days duty for rs. 6000/- p.m only.I was exausted, and left my job and returned back to home, now I was worried about my futire, and worryness about to supporty family. Now, I used to search jobs on internet, and started working online, started learning new stuffs on internet, and created a website to post new articles for engineers. But still I was jobless, I came to home from Ludhiana in September, 2017 and I was jobless till May,2018.After suffering and hearing many taunts from many sides, I started seeking source of earning, and I choosed to teach in Diploma engineering college as Lecturer, to continue my revision of engineering background, and I was started my job in May, 2018 for rs. 12000/- P.M.During working there, in August, 2018 I got interview call from India's leading mobile manufacturing Company OPPO Mobiles, for the position of assistant Production Engineer and I got that Job, with gud starting salary, which cannot be disclosed here.During this all, One thing was sparking inside me was Hope. Which keep me motivated. So, Don’t loose hope, You are an engineer, specially a mechanical engineer. A Mechanical engineer is a person who can be a Banker, Joins TCS, Can do any job, with perfection. All the best.

Why do Indians love engineering?

Who said anything about "loving" engineering? For me it all boils down to the following points:Societal and parental pressure: this stems from checking out neighboring families; advertisements in newspapers about institutes claiming to have produced toppers who made it to the topmost colleges; and parents' expectations that engineering will be over quickly and before long their child would be employed. Steady rise in number of engineering colleges: more students showing "interest" towards engineering disciplines causes more and more engineering colleges to come up every year. And more colleges open doors for even more students. You can do IT!: a commonly accepted notion in the whole country is "TCS toh aayega hi" ("TCS will definitely hire") when talking about in-campus placements in an engineering college. TCS here symbolizes the strong demand for IT jobs in the country which manifests itself in the form of more colleges thriving in the market by showing a high placement record.A general tendency to avoid risk: Indian parents generally want their children to complete their education and get a job real soon so as to stay afloat financially. There are often situations where children are expected to supplement the family income or repaying education or other loans or saving up for a house or a car. Then there is the common "22 mein naukri, 25 mein shaadi" ("job at 22 and wedding at 25") routine that still holds by and large in Indian families. So engineering fits perfectly in this equation.Youth mindset: I am adding this in an edit because it's not only the parents who are to be blamed in India. The youth in India often love engineering because it's not as difficult to pursue as may be a degree in medicine or scientific research. Of course there are premier engineering colleges with tougher syllabi but those engineers form a tiny little fraction of the total number that India produces every year. Most youths aspire to graduate comfortably and then work a job in one of the big cities.Social status: people find it more cool to say "I am a computer engineer" than, for example, saying "I am a veterinary doctor" or "I am a school teacher". For the same reason parents find talking about their children more dignified when they have achieved something through academics than something through sports or extracurricular activities like singing, dancing, etc. P.S: I am an engineer and employed in TCS.

Should I follow my passion or my parents' will? My family sacrificed to support my studies in English and finance, and I'm the hope of a family of 8. I quit my job to freelance as a web developer, but my parents have arranged a lucrative job for me.

Even this world needs to be explained theoretically. We all have been reading, in bulk, motivational thoughts, quotes etc., encouraging us to do something revolutionary, blending our fears, asserting not to quit whatever the situations may be and numerous confidence giving words. A wave of hope runs in our blood resulting goose bumps, building a mountain of firm rocks stating the world to create something extraordinary, to think outside the box.Fact is, we all have been through these situations and we heroically know that all these motivational words fail when the tables turn. Tables turn and everything goes wrong, motivational words are of no use in those creepy and tough situations. Astonishingly, at that point life teaches us about money, money, being the supreme power in this cruel world. Money! The supporter, the almighty, the cherisher. Even to reach those inspirational ways we need money, indirectly.Similarly, Interest i.e. your passion and Money are two opposite words having repelling cause and effect relation. The assumption over here is, you being a bourgeois. We all are quite well known to the fact that our interest generally includes those actions, professions and mediators having average financial gains or low financial gains. As explained in previous blog, you must be determined towards creating something extraordinary, keeping money motive at last place. Diving into this matter deeply I came out of the blue discovering that extraordinary personalities like Albert Einstein, Walt Disney, Michael Jordan, Oprah Winfrey, Lionel Messi, Steve Jobs, Eminem, Thomas Edison, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Dr. Seuss, Ratan Tata, Larry Page, Sergy Bin, Elon Musk and many more, had the same problems, we have. Exactly! They suffered the same consequences we face in our life every second day. What differs us from them is their extraordinary determination and persistence towards their goal and may be this could be the reason for our life being inferior & adjacent to theirs in terms of money, respect, popularity etc.Yet, we all are quite well known to the terms Karma and Destiny. At last what we need to do is- Pray heartily, Focus on Goals steadily and Work unreservedly. Do not make yourself regret for not trying, not working hard, not taking a step and all such negations; when you will be in your fifties. At least try and let destiny decide the results.Stay positive, stay bold and have faith in God.Hope this helps. Source- Money or Passion? Should I Follow My Passion?

How much of a chance do I have getting into Harvard/Yale/Stanford/Cornell?

Cornell is significantly less competitive than Harvard, Stanford and Yale, so among those schools, the best chance of being admitted. About half of each class at Harvard, Stanford and Yale are admitted with significant preference in admission due to the following attributes- athletic recruit, wealthy legacy, diversity. (In this context, diversity refers to African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans and Pacific Islanders.) This means that instead of having 5-6% admit rates at Harvard and Stanford, the actual admit rate is closer to 2% for those without the above mentioned attributes. In the US, in terms of financial aid for a single undergraduate student under 24 years of age, deemed a dependent student, the parent's income and assets are considered for financial aid purposes.

An older kid's question about bad parents.?

You seem to know what theyre about, try talking to a professor or another kind of evaluator and get some more opinions. Try moving in with a friend or going in on a small house with 2 other friends and split the rent and just get away from ur parents...
