I Need A Shakespeare Monologue To Audition For My High School Play With.

Dramatic monologues for high school play audition?

I'm auditioning for my high school's fall plays soon, and I'm looking for a good dramatic monologue to audition with. I'm auditioning for Macbeth and The Dixie Swim Club. I'd specifically like to get into Macbeth as Lady Macbeth, but I don't want to do a Shakespearean monologue. I'm looking for a monologue that would fit Lady Macbeth but would also keep me considered for the other show. Any advice?

I need a funny monologue (~60 sec) for the school play audition. Any suggestions?

Hello my friend :)

This is a site with over a thousand different monologues from different genres for film and television:

Is it okay to cut up a Shakespeare monologue for an audition?

Ignore the first answer - evidently an uneducated, ignorant non-actor!

Yes, some Shakespeare monologues do go on a bit, and if you have to cut them, it's usually okay. As long as you don't lose the sense, the flow, the emotion or the feel of the text, it should be fine. You can also cut out interruptions from other characters if needs must.
If the director comments, just say what you've done, and why.
It happens a lot - don't stress!
Good luck!

Monologue ideas for high school audition?

Your monologue should be chosen depending on the play for which you are auditioning. If you are auditioning for a comedy, choose a comedic monologue. If you are auditioning for a Shakespearean tragedy, choose another of Shakespeare's tragedies. Your monologue should be from a play written near the same time as the play for which you are auditioning. If you are auditioning for something by Neil Simon, don't choose a monologue from something by Moliere.
One to two minutes is usually a good length for a monologue. But, you can go shorter, of course.

What are two good monologues for a high school audition?

Elizabeth's Monologue from Defying Gravity by Jane Anderson. You can find it on the internet. It is from a published one act. The first line of the monologue is, "Whe I watched my mothers ship take off, I saw it go striaght into the sky and disappear." It is not exactly a shy monologue by it is a sad one.

I found these in a monologue book called Young Woman's Monologues from Contemporary Play. Some I do believe they are form published plays.

1. The Baptist Gourmet by Jill Morley. The character is Tulula. This is a very fun monologue, but I requires a sourthern accent. It is a woman hosting a religoius cooking show.

2. Junk by Melvin Burgess. The character is Gemma. It is about a forteen year old that runs away and this is her guide to running away.

3. The Interview by Jill Morley. The character is Laura. This is about an insecure actress being interview for a theater casting director. It is a funny shy monolouge.

I also recommend looking into monologues from Neil Simon plays such as The Odd Couple (female version). I hope this helps.

Which Shakespeare monologue is the best for a theater school audition?

That is a good question but it is not one that can be answered by anyone who doesn’t know you. We could list our favourite soliloquies or speeches (monologue isn’t really a word you use with respect to a Shakespeare play) and make all sorts of strategic suggestions but the best fit is the correct answer. And we don’t know you. Maybe one of the things they’ll be looking for is whether you know yourself.some questions the audition panel will want answers to:does this person have potential? Can we see nascent acting ability and are they personally interesting?are they open to direction and change (and therefore will they learn)?do they have significant impediments to learning or a future career?will they work as part of a team or do they think they are a star and could not care less about the ensemble ethos of theatre?is there something refreshing and memorable about the way they perform?what current level of skill is apparent? Too much may be as inappropriate as too little - who wants to sign someone up who will almost certainly get bored and go off to find work before long?In any audition (not just an entry to theatre school one) they are primarily looking for an insight into who you are. They want to know what makes you unique and memorable. So, what to choose? It is not just a question of which pieces are the most interesting or the most common - it is about what suits you. I don’t mean are you 70 years old (Lear) or Jewish (Shylock) or North African (Othello). I mean what are your essential personal qualities. Are you impetuous, deadpan, sincere, brave, light and funny, strong, authoritative, slow-rhythmed, quixotic and fast-rhythmed, etc? When I was at drama school, as a young man, I was constantly being cast in exercises as Lear or Claudius - that is what they saw in my essential qualities. I hadn’t seen that in myself.

I’m auditioning for my school’s drama club and need a monologue that’s 2 minutes long. I really want one with a lot of emotion, maybe staring an awkward teen trying to fit in similar to Evan Hansen. Does anyone have any recommendations?

When Evan is introduced to the audience, he gives a monologue which lasts around a minute. In the Computer Lab, Evan says out his letter and even sings a snippet of Waving Through A Window. This should add up to 2 minutes. Before “You Will Be Found”, he gives a nervous speech. If the drama club is looking for emotion over delivery, this one is ideal. In the Finale, Evan gives a nice, long monologue about how everything is going to be okay.
