I Need Help Choosing Tablet

Choosing a tablet question?

Having the same brand won't make much difference. The advantage is when your phone and tablet run the same operating system; then you generally don't have to repurchase paid apps. Since you have a Samsung S5, that's running Android. So, if not having to repurchase applications is the most important thing, buy a tablet that runs Android.

The amount of memory is semi-useful to know for Android devices, but makes little difference on iPad because iOS manages the memory for you.

You should know that some Android tablets include memory card slots, which let you use memory cards to store additional applications, photos, videos, etc. iPads have no way to use external storage.

Since you a torn between which model to purchase just based on specs, I'd suggest you go to a retailer and try them out. Holding one will give you an idea of the weight, which is useful if you plan to read books on them, and you'll find differences in how responsive to touch differing tablets can be, and that can make a huge difference in how much you enjoy using one.

If your family has convinced you to purchase one, then take them with you so you can get their impressions. Minor physical disabilities, such as arthritis, might influence your purchase; tablets can have varying surface textures, or different bezel sizes, that influence how easy it is to maintain a grip.

Good luck!

Which size tablet should I consider for reading ebooks, 8 inches or 10 inches?

It all comes down to personal preferences really. But there are few factors that you can consider between an 8" and a 10" tablet.1. Weight and sizeThe 10" tablet is much larger and heavier than the 8" so it is surely difficult to hold for a long time. You hands will get tired very quickly.I have a 7" Google Nexus 7 2013 tablet and I have hold it with one hand. I think you can hold an 8" tablet with one hand but surely you can't hold a 10" tablet with one hand.2. PriceAs a general rule of thumb, there are not many choices for a 10" tablet. As far as I know, there are Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1, iPad , Google Nexus 10 and Sony z4 tablet for 10" tablet. To be honest, these tablets are quite expensive, considering the fact that if you only need to read but not particularly desire other features like Sony's is waterproof. On the other hand, 8" tablets are cheaper like Samsung Galaxy tab S and Sony Z3 tablet compact. When buying a tablet, I think there are few things you want to look at:1. Price2. Size3. Design and outlook4. Battery life ( as you don't want the battery to die easily in the middle of your reading session)5. Screen ( the higher the pixal density, the crsiper the words look. Generally, full HD is very enough)Hope this helps:)

What specs do I need in a laptop or tablet for programming?

Basics:Processor with less cores but more core speed (compilation time is core speed dependent)Processor with more Cache (reduces, re-compile overhead at processor level.)Large, clear screen (if you have to squint, you have the wrong screen size/font size), usually two screens help , one for reference, one for coding.Good keyboard: Scissor keys is what you get on laptop, Mechanical keyboards for gamers and typing enthusiasts.Low priority but a necessity: SSD, quick read / write of files, snappier system.8GB RAM recommended. If you have the money, then the Dell XPS 15 2016 edition, buy it from Microsoft or Dell.Suggestion from personal experience: Details here: New XPS 15 Laptop Side note:Use a laptop if you intend to code on the move, as laptop coding has backache and fatigue issues. If you are not going to code on the move (cafe's etc.) get a Core i5 desktop with 2-3 screens. If your intention is Mac App development, get a Mac, install windows (dual boot) and then you can do both.Hope that helps.
