I Need Help Over Deciding A Career In Music. Help.

Before deciding on a career in music therapy, why is it important to gain experience working with disabled ?

Because most careers for Music therapy are in institutions. If you have no patience for people with disabilities or unusual personalities (for mental institutions) - then how could you perform on that job ?

Help deciding career direction BMET?

I am having trouble on the steps one would take to get to the profession of becoming a Biomedical Equipment Technician. My current education is an Associate in Arts degree with no major declared.

I am not sure if i can take some more classes at a community college level to make my degree a BMET degree, its kinda confusing, I don't mind going for a bachelors in biomedical equipment technology if that would earn me the job and more money possibly. I am not so great at the math, but i am willing to learn it. I also am reading that i can get a bachelors degree in biomedical engineering and that may be a good bet too, Ive heard that places like devry may not be the best place to go as they arent always recognized by employers and do not take my previous credits from my associates agree. And not accredited by an organization that most reputable schools are like bigger name universities and community colleges in my area.

I just want to intern and go to school if both are possible, that way ill have experience and be ready after i get my education. I also do not want to be stuck at earning only what an associates will get me so i want to do as much school that will actually be relevant to the job;
does anyone think broadening a degree would help in the long run? instead of just going off of the associates or intern experience alone. It also is hard to find a school that offers such courses i am finding out besides devry's "bachelors in biomed equip technology"
I am confused about all of this and dont just want to jump into a degree of biomed engineering if its gonna be something to overqualify me for the time being, and im not the best at math right now or sciences.

Music or Boxing? i cant decide (Guys)?

Im 16 years old, up to 14 years old i played sports all my life mainly football (soccer) and was very good, i have very good athletic attributes in terms of stamina and natural fitness, and for my average size tremendous power ive always found, when play fighting with friends no matter what size i always had the strength in me to take them down with bare hands, and growing up with older brothers who watch boxing made me love the sport and always wanted to participate, so at 10-11 years old my brother took me to his friends gym where i trained about 5 times, using pads, skipping, and heavy bag. After the first day the coach phoned my brother up telling him to bring me back as he thought i was good, so i went another 4 times but my brother gave up taking me so i stopped and it was left at that, however my passion has grew for the sport and ive come so close to joining a gym again i started early morning running etc but i never went, now the thing is i really want to start boxing as i want to be a famous boxer, the idea of slugging it out looking for a knockout in front of millions motivates me and when shadow bozing i really think i could be lethal (obv in ring is another story) but the one thng thats holding me back is i have one other passion which is my ultimate goal and needs 100% time dedicated and thats music, im writing for a cd and all i want to do is be a musician and nearly all musicians say if you want to make it big you have to dedicate everything you have into it, Music > over boxing any day for me but they still are the two things i want to do in my life, i want to be a fighter and my brother says most boxers my weight start at a young age as skills need to be learnt, so i would have to start some time soon if i was to get big or ill be too old to become great eventually missing out on the olympics etc, but music tops the list id rather be a musician but its hard to explain, i want to be both so badly, for seperate reasons but i dont want to do both and one be a hobby if you understand? i dont want to do either of them as hobbies, if i do one of them properly i want it as a career thats why i think i can only dedicate time to one, its either go all out or just leave it, idk what to do..

PS: I have been writing music for 3 years and i have developed really well, i think i definitely have a huge chance of making it compared to others my age, i have studied it inside out like a school subject

I have to choose between pursuing a career in music or being with the girl I love, how do I decide?

Why choose one?Any girl who is in love with you truly will help you and support you in your career. You can go ahead in your career with music and still be in a happy relationship with your girl.Point to be notedIf the girl is forcing you choose between her and your career. Dude, she don't love you or not mature enough to be in love.In worst case if you've to choose one, then your choice should be your career. Yes you heard me right. Career should be above love practically.Why?Firstly, because it's your passion.Secondly, with no career, no girl is going to be with you. At some point your girl will also leave you if you do not have a good career or of you don't have a good pay.Thanks.Good luck. Hope for the best.

Is it too late to start a career in music at the age of 26? Are there any mentors that can help me in Mumbai?

If you want to be like Justin Bieber or Taylor Swift and appeal to teenagers, then yes, you’re too old. If you want to teach music, you’re not too old. If you want to play in a symphony orchestra, then yes, it’s too late. If you want to play jazz, age doesn’t matter, but almost no one in jazz has a comfortable life and income. If you want to work for a musical instrument manufacturer or sell instruments, it’s not too late.The likelihood of a successful career performing music is so low, however, that age is almost irrelevant. One must be so good and so lucky that it’s like winning the lottery. Only a very small percentage of musicians earn enough money to have a middle-class lifestyle. The stress, loneliness, and uncertainty of being a touring musician are so difficult than many (most?) of them use alcohol and drugs excessively. It’s an extremely risky bet for a career.Music is a wonderful hobby but a hard way to make a living.

Do you necessarily need a plan B if you are choosing music as your career?

It seems that a lot of people stumble on a “plan B” with the experience they receive from performing!The skills you pick up as a musician can very easily aid in finding a good job for yourself if need be. Teaching, producing, or managing are three examples of professions a musician can find themselves in, and there are plenty more, all to do with music.Music as a career spans much more than performing. Here’s a website that gives a decent list of music related careers: Music Careers List | Careers in the Music Industry | Music Business CareersEven if you consider these a plan B, it’s still related to the industry you love, and you may even find you enjoy some of these just as much as being a full time musician/performer.I hope this helps!
