They're pretty indie right now.

I'm in need of some new music. I like heavy metal, punk rock and alternative rock. Some of my favorite bands are Of Mice and Men, For All Those Sleeping, and Bring Me The Horizon.  What are your suggestions for what I should start listening to?

If you're into other types of metal deffinetly try out:Opeth (one of the best metal bands i know)Gojira (very original)Meshuggah (extremely heavy and elaborate)Conquering dystopia (sweet instumental metal like mothing i've ever heard before)Enslaved (progressive black metal - kinda weird if you haven't listened to black metal before) BUT DEFINETLY A MUST (vertebrae album)Parkway drive (my favorite metalcore band - very original)The agonist (very creative death metal with sweet clean vocals from the ex-singer who's hot as fuck)The black dahlia murder (death metal that have lot's of classical music influences)And if you like other genresHaji's kitchen (kinda metal but not so heavy)Tool (progressive as fuck - dfficult to listen at first but you'll get used to it's complexity - a must)Deftones (progressive rock - a must as well)Pink floyd (psychedelic rock - if you like getting high these are the guys you wanna listen to)Kylesa (psychedelic metal but it's also very hard to listen to)Linkin park (rock with some badass rap)Lost prophets (start something album)The police (very chilled but cool) Red hot chilli peppers (one of my favorite bands of all time - many styles)System of a down (if you like metal there's no way you won't like these guys)

How do you find new music to listen to?

New music is pretty easy to find nowadays.Apps like Spotify already “suggest” you a lot of music and artists based on your listening history.Image source: Spotify vs. Soundcloud: What Is The Best Platforms For Music Lovers? However, being this big music nerd, I personally like spending hours and digging deep on SoundCloud to find hidden gems and artists.I just love it when I find an artist who has a couple hundred followers, making insanely good music!I started with using a lot of Soundcloud to discover artists and music in the “recommended” section and then going down the spiral from there on.I also spend a lot of time on Youtube, where music channels like Soundisstyle and Majestic Casual are exceptional music curators and do a great job of recommending some of the best new music out there. The key to finding good music is that you need to have an open ear. You don’t have to be judgemental about music or confine yourself to this “genre wall”. Good music is good music, irrespective of the artist or genre.BTW, all this music digging since childhood inspired me to start my own music channel on Youtube. I spend all of my weekends and late nights on Soundcloud, curating and searching for only the best and lesser known talent from around the world. You should definitely check out and subscribe :)My Music Channel : BEATMATCH
