I Sniffed Chlorine Tabs

Accedental Chlorine sniffing?

Could have damaged his lungs. Don't know if you are aware of it but Chlorine is the main active ingredient in Mustard Gas. It is pretty poisonous if inhaled in large concentrations.

But I can't see where just smelling of a Chlorine tablet for a swimming pool he'd get that large a concentration.
They use chlorine many times more concentrated than that when cleaning and sanitizing in food processing plants with no ill effects.
Most likely just check him out good.

Accidentally sniffing chlorine?

If that's your only symptom than you're fine. Just wait it out.

I sniffed Chlorine Tabs?

I sniffed a bottle of Chlorine tabs, I wasn't even thinking.. I saw them on the counter, and opened the bottle. When I smelt them, I instantly stopped. They were strong.. Nothing is happening to me right now, but I'm really nervous because it says people can die from it.. I'm not coughing or dizzy or anything. I'm 14 years old. Help?

HELP i just sniffed a container containing chlorine tablet for a swimming pool.?

First of all, you're in little or no danger. You breathed in some dust that is NOT pure chlorine. Chlorine gas is pure chlorine and is so dangerous that it is rarely used anymore.

Like another poster's grandfather, I too once got a "sip" of chlorine gas ... I thought I was going to die! However, I didn't get enough to cause any permanent damage (at least I don't think so).

Regardless, the symptoms you're experiencing will go away within a day.

My next question is ... What in the world were you doing with your face so close to a bucket of tablets that you inhaled enough to cause problems? You need not answer as the answer is that you were doing something just plain stupid as to get enough of that dust, you had to be doing the 'sniffing' deliberately.

Pool chlorine inhalation?

Chlorine is corrisive, which is why it burned and therefore made you cough - it was irritating the lining of your lungs. However, it was just the chlorine fumes you inhaled, not actual liquid/granular chlorine. Had you inhaled actual undiluted chlorine, you would be in a lot more pain and would need to seek medical attention.

Don't worry, I work in a pool store and I fill chlorine jugs all day there. I've gotten it on my bare hands and spilled it on my pants before (it burns through right away). I am also smelling the fumes of it all day at work, but there's not really any risk of just smelling the fumes. The best thing to do is just get some fresh air and drink water if it's irritating your lungs/nose.

If you did ingest actual chlorine, you are supposed to drink milk. And always wash any part of your skin it touched very well.

What do you do if you inhaled dust from chlorine tablests?

Use a dry wipe to wipe off your face, mouth, and tounge. If your lungs are burning when you breath, or your face is burning, stand under running water until EMS gets there. Dry powder must be wiped away. The moment it gets wet(or inhaled), it becomes very caustic. Take off your clothes immediately, to get the dust off you. Go to the nearest ER and tell them you have been exposed to Chlorine...they will know what to do immediately.

While cleaning I added too much chlorine to a container with just a little bit of water. I was in a closed area (bathroom) and I started to have a headache. Can inhaling chlorine vapors cause brain damage? Can it kill neurons?

Breathing chlorine vapors is not good. Most likely damage would be to sinuses and lungs. Permanent and serious damage to the brain is not likely. Recommend diluting chlorine in a well ventilated room or under a vent hood.

I accidently inhaled some chlorine while cleaning my pool, what will happen!?

What I really recommend you is to take a lot of water in order to decrease the intoxication, if you have one.
If you know feel ok, there is no problem.
But if you are feeling something when you breath....When
inhaled, chlorine is highly irritating and can damage large
airways and distal lung structures.
Please read this medical article and go to your doctor if you fell something strange. It could be serious. The treatment sometimes is with oxygen or steroids but please I strongly recommend you to go to your doctor. I am pharmacy and biology chemical from Mexico. Please Take care!
