I Think I Fractured My Elbow Should I Be Screaming In Pain

Is my elbow bruised or fractured?

It is possible to have little tiny fractures from an injury, but it would HURT HURT HURT! There is really nothing you can do except apply ice for 20 minutes a day 3-4 times a day, take NSAID (Motrin) or Tylenol for pain and in a week or so you should be good to go.
Making your own cast is not a good idea, besides, it won't do much, as the purpose of a cast is to keep a broken bone in alignment. You could put your arm in a sling to keep it immobilized, thus decreasing your pain. You can pick up a sling at any local drug store.
If your elbow does not get better in 2-3 days or if you experience a fever, tingling in your fingers or hand it is best to visit your doctor and get an x-ray, as this could be a sign of nerve/vascular compromise.

Happy holidays!

What does an elbow fracture feel like?

From the description of your injury as you describe it you sustained a fall on outstretched arm. When you impacted your arm in this type of manner there's is a lot of force that is transmitted from your wrist to your shoulder. If your elbow was locked as a part of the mechanism of your fall, the brunt of the force could have settled in your elbow, and you may have sustained a fracture to it. The elbow joint comprises of the olecranon which is the proximal part of the ulna, head of the radius, and the distal humerus. The elbow joint is considered a hinge joint and flexes and extends. Another possibility is that you may have sustained a fracture of the proximal radius particularly the radial head. When there is a fracture of the elbow it can be subtle or quite obvious. In either case there is always limited range of motion especially with flexion and extension of the elbow which will elicit moderate to severe pain. Also by the action of supination and pronation of your upper forearm this will also elicit pain. Sometimes with a fracture there may be no bruising but with a significant fracture of the elbow there is always bruising and even put the possibility of a bony abnormality. Lastly there is always swelling. In any case the only way to determine if you have a fracture of the elbow is that you need to get a elbow x-ray and a radiologist should be able to determine this immediately when looking at the film. I would recommend in this case that you follow up with either a urgent care or emergency room where they can take care of your situation much quicker than following up with your primary care doctor. If you do have a fracture more likely than not you will receive a sling or some sort of an immobilization device and more likely than not you will be referred to an orthopedic doctor. Good luck.

Can you break a bone without crying?

Yes I broke my wrist in 2 places and dislocated it .. I had some tears in my eyes but really didn't cry, even when they put it back in place.. even though it hurt it really didn't hurt as bad as i thought a broken bone would. I even asked the doctor shouldn't it hurt more and he said everyones different , and some people just have a higher pain tolerance.

i wouldn't feel bad about crying .. my mom broke and shattered her ankle and cried like a baby .. it hurts sometimes you just can't help it

What does breaking a bone feel like?

is it comparable to anything?
i always thought it would be something that you couldnt stand
but so many people break things all the time that it cant be too.. i dont know

What is the least painful way to break your arm/wrist?

Nerves in your wrists are going to be screaming with pain no matter what you do. The least painful way is don't do it. There is no way possible to break your wrist without feeling some pain. If it's going to happen, it will happen when it happens. Don't try to break it, or fracture it. My friend broke 3 bones falling in gym, and she was crying all day it hurt so bad. Do you want to be crying all day because you took a fancy to break your wrist? :L I'm not trying to be mean but.........point is, the least painful way is to not do it at all. :)

Why do humans yell, cry, and moan when in pain?

My son has an extreme tolerance to pain. Last time he was in an accident, not only did he break his arm leaving him looking as though he had 2 elbows, but he had a cracked jaw, cracked ribs and a deep laceration and many bruises and abrasions. Since he wasn’t screaming in pain but was just laying there on the grass chatting unable to move, the paramedics left him to make his own way to the ER while they carted others off with minor injuries who were screaming and howling. He was so out of it with pain, it took him something like 3 hours to call me; when he did, he was laughing and joking as he had done with the paramedics. It took me another 4 hours to get to the ER where they finally had him in a room but had not even given him anything but water for something like 6 hours as they thought all he would need was some stitches. Such as it was, they actually assumed people coming in with the sniffles required immediate attention because they could spread germs.Granted I know white people are white, but they are not F-ing white as paper and no one has 2 elbows. I had to point that out exactly like this to the ER doctor who went in then to sanctimoniously show me absolutely nothing was wrong with my son other than the dried deep laceration exposing his jaw bone which would soon require 14 stitches. The doctor assured me that if my son had a broken arm he would be screaming in pain. Further, he did not notice he had gone into shock for having been left there with absolutely no medical treatment. He was so stunned when I showed him my son’s arm with two elbows all he could do was mumble and ask why he wasn’t screaming? This is why you scream in pain when you are injured as doctors will leave you to die. They will not examine you if you are not screaming in pain.Screaming is a matter of survival.

How can I easily and painlessly break my arm?

The simple answer is, you don’t.Knowing that you are wanting to do harm to yourself already indicates that you are already in pain - mental or emotional pain.I would strongly recommend that you consider why you want this to happen. Are you looking for attention, pity or sympathy from others? Then you need to address these issues - not try to break your arm.Even if at the time of the break, you take some drug or anesthetic to keep you from feeling the pain of the initial break, the healing process will likely have some pain accompaniment. Please let a desire to be healthy, mentally, physically and spiritually be your guide & seek support from friends, family members and professionals as soon as possible. You are worth it. You are valuable, irreplaceable and unique.Christine

I think I just broke my arm..?

Apply ice to the area. Try to move the limb and your fingers. Is there any coolness in your hand or numbness tingling? Do you have full Range of motion?

If it looks crooked or deformed, go the to ER for an Xray. If it is broken, they can straighten it and splint it, otherwise it could heal wrong or get worse. also, they can give you pain medication and an orthopedist to follow up with.
