Should I use serum before straightening my hair?
I highly recommend a serum if it says it's a heat protectant. You can find many heat protecting serums and sprays at Sally Beauty supply
Hair straightener and hair wax?
I guess it's okay, but if I could i wouldn't (unless it was designed for straightening afterwards) I would reccomend to you that you use a Straight Blam before you straighten it and then wax it out after you straighten in. Straight Balms i reccomend are: Mossimo Panta Lissante - Ironed out Straight Balm. And: Schwarzkopf got 2b glossy - anti-frizzy shine serum. Then use a ceramic hair straightener (ceramic straighteners cause LESS damage to hair than a non-ceramic straightner) after you straighten it either use a texture wax to hold it in place, hair spray (GET GLUED works best, or Schwartzkopf's hair spray), or a flat iron spray (herbalessense has a plat iron spray that's in everbodies price range if you don't want to pay crazy money).

What kind of straightener do you use? Does it matter what kind of brand to get?
Before I became a stylist I worked in a retail hair product store. I've never seen an item returned broken as much as the Chi irons. I've used just about every high end flat iron on the market and the Paul Mitchell iron is undoubtedly the best. Unlike on most CHI irons, you can change the heat setting on a Paul Mitchell iron. All hair textures need their own heat setting so to have just one seems absurd. If you don't want to spend upwards of 100 dollars on a flat iron. Try to find a ceramic 1" iron at sallys. Metal plates will split your hair ends. have fun!
Hair Straightening with baby oil?
This girl i know keeps a bottle of opened baby oil by her hair straightener, does anyone know what she does with this??? Her hair always looks so good can you tell me what this is used for, I am too embaressed to ask.
