How do I Block Android Application on Router? Example: youtube app

Nice question. I actually just tried it out if I can block it, using my Netgear router, but was unsuccessful. What I actually tried was I opened up my router settings page, and searched for a block option, and found one under Security tab. It was called block websites ( there different types of blocks available actually, like IP block, MAC block ), so I blocked websites based on keyword "YouTube", it basically checks if the domain name of website content has the keyword and blocks. The site got blocked. But the YouTube app worked. I then understood that I was wrong in assuming that the app uses some server with domain name which has the word "youtube" in it. I then blocked "google" keyword too. Still app worked. I tried since have seen some YouTube server video URLs ( direct ) with "google" word in it. So, definitely it's accessing totally different servers. So tell me what app you want to block, and based on the app, we have to check what it's server is and then block based on that, in the router.

How do I block the Facebook app in a router?

Most if not all domestic routers can block IP address ranges. To block the Facebook app, you will need to block all of Facebook’s web services because the app uses the same raw data as the website but spits it out in an app framework instead of the website framework.Depending on your computer, one can run nslookup facebook.com in terminal to resolve the geographically local IP address of Facebook.com.One can run nslookup facebook.com 1.1.1.1 or nslookup facebook.com 1.0.0.1 to ask CloudFlare which IP addresses they use for resolving Facebook.com. This only matters if you are using CloudFlare for external DNS resolving. FaceBook.com’s IP address is most likely to be cached in the router’s DNS tables.I would have to block 157.240.1.35 to block the Facebook app and website.

How do I block websites on wifi router?

Your router is probably not using DNS to filter traffic, as even though you are using a proxy, your DNS queries are being resolved out your native internet connection. If you want an easy way to prevent name resolution for the sites you don't want to be accessible, I would suggest using a customizable DNS provider like OpenDNS.As for blocking Android apps, you really need to know the internet resources each specific app uses. Once you know that, you could then blackhole those resources with OpenDNS or your routers website filtering/firewall.

How can I block specific website for specific users on my TP LINK router?

I’d suggest Googling ”block site” with your TP Link model number. One thing to keep in mind when blocking specific computers is you have to have a way to identify the device. In most routers that means IP address. If your router is set to give out IP addresses using DHCP, which most do, it is nearly impossible to set a rule to block a specific device as the IP of that device may change over time.Instead, set the desired device to use a specific IP outside the range assigned to DHCP in the router. This means the device will have a static IP.There is another way to achieve static IP assignments by using DHCP but I do not know if TP Link has the feature. It is an advanced capability where DHCP stores the mac address of each device and assigns a specific IP to a specific mac address. This is a fairly advanced networking concept so if you don’t understand it yet I’d suggest reading up on networking.http://www.tp-link.com/en/faq-27...
