How do you edit videos?

I'm trying to make a video on my digital camera. It's about 5 minutes long right now, but I screwed up at the end. I don't want to have to re-record the whole video. Can I make a second video and splice the two together, cutting off the part where I messed up? How do I do that?

Thanks!

How hard is video editing for YouTube?

That depends on the quality of editing you want to do. If you basically just want to put together clips to tell a story its not very hard. If you want to add some effects, both video and audio, to tell the same story better, you might need to put it in some additional work.It also depends on the types of videos you want to put on your channel. If you are going to be uploading vlogs or something similar which requires you to upload daily, you will possibly not be able to put in too much working editing it, as you priority is to put together a video and upload daily. If you want to make really good looking videos but the frequency of uploads does not matter to you, you will want to work harder on editing your videos.All-in-all, my suggestion would be to find a balance, since upload frequency and video quality are both important to succeed on YouTube. Provided the content is good, of-course. Hardness of video editing will also change as you keep doing it. The more you do it, the easier it will become for you and the better you will get at it.Hope that helps!

I need to prepare a simple video but I don't have any video editing skills. Can you suggest me a free and useful video editing program for Windows?

There are two that spring to my mind. The first is Windows Movie Maker. This is a very basic video editor that can splice different clips together with some transition effects. It is very popular and completely free to use. As a first foray into video editing it will give you a good basic introduction and not swamp you with techniques and features.https://support.microsoft.com/en...This advantage though soon becomes a disadvantage as you very quickly reach the limits of what Windows Movie Maker can do. For things such as picture in picture, chromakey and more advanced editing tasks, windows movie maker will run out of power. That is why the second option is an absolutely amazing product to download free.It is called Black Magic Da Vinci Resolve. This is a fully featured non linear video editing program that has the power you would have to pay a lot of money for on other systems. I can’t believe that they offer it free of charge but they do.With it you have what they claim to be the most advanced set of colour correction tools as well as all the effects, titles, multi camera editing capacity to keep you happy even if you are a professional.Blackmagic Design: DaVinci Resolve 12The question is what level of package do you require? With Windows Movie maker there isn’t that much to learn so you will be up and running with it in no time. With Da Vinci Resolve you will need to spend some time learning how to use it. Maybe start with the small one and work up as your skills improve. When you do pickup Da Vinci Resolve also take a look at Blackmagic Fusion. It is also free of charge and gives you animation and special effects that are of a Hollywood standard.I hope that helps.

I know nothing about video editing, but I want to start a YouTube channel and make fun edits. Where do I start? What (free) programs do you recommend?

Depends on a few factors. If you're on a Mac, then you already have iMovie, which will do pretty much everything you need. If you're on a Mac, here's a tutorial:If you're on Windows, you could try to use Windows Movie Maker for your videos, but it's pretty limited. However, since you've never edited before, you should try it out once or twice just to get an idea for how to import a video clip, shorten/lengthen it, add audio, and export to a different format. Here's a tutorial:Once you have those basics down, you should probably consider looking into a better editing program with true multitrack support. I've been recommending DaVinci Resolve Lite as a great free editing program, but you would have to spend some time to learn the interface and workflow. Here's the site for Resolve Lite:https://www.blackmagicdesign.com...And here's a tutorial to get you started:Other free Windows editing apps tend to either have some sort of adware or are pretty underwhelming. Openshot is a decent simple editing program for Linux distros, and it looks like the upcoming 2.0 version will have Windows support, so you might want to like their Facebook page or check their site every so often:http://www.openshotvideo.com

Where do you find Basshunter - Now You're Gone Video Edit version?

Basshunter has a song called Now You're Gone, in which it has SEVERAL different versions. Amongst them, there is only one I want. The video edit version has a few differences compared to the radio edit, including voice-over and tempo... The remixes just blow and I don't want anything to do with them. I've tried beemp3, airmp3, mp3codes, mp3raid, and a handful of other sites. I can't keep looking for that damn thing, it's driving me crazy... I have only found one video edit version of the song in total, and it was on mp3raid, however it cut out at 2:07 and I was about to strangle the computer...

If you can help, I don't want a suggested website that "Might have what I'm looking for". Post a link strait to the song on the website. (Eg. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgFwiCApH7E (This is saying "Here is what you're looking for. Not www.youtube.com, but the full url to the song.))

Thanks to anybody who can help. I'd really appreciate it.

How to edit YouTube videos like danisnotonfire on Acer?

So I've recently gotten into making YouTube videos but I don't know how to edit them. And danisnotonfire is one of my favorite youtubers so I want to edit videos like his. So I need an editor(or more than one) that can edit videos like dan and phils. But the catch is is that it needs to be free because I have 0 money to spend. So I just need an editor or two(or more) that can let me edit videos like Dans that is free. I know it's asking a lot but I don't think its really impossible. Links are appreciated! Thank you!!!!

Minimum PC requirements for 720p video editing?

You will want a dual core CPU at the very least. A quad core or hex core is preferable.

An Athlon II x4 635 is a quad core 2.9GHz CPU that is excellent for video editing and overclocks easily to 3.4GHz.

If you choose a dual core instead, you should get an Intel dual core with hyper-threading to boost your performance. AMD CPUs do not support multi-threading, but you will get more cores for your money by buying AMD.

You will want a minimum of 4GB of RAM. 8GB is best for video editing, but 4GB will do if you are on a budget. 1GB is not enough to even run Windows 7 32-bit smoothly. 1GB will not run windows 7 64-bit at all.

I've put together a Newegg wishlist for you to give you an idea of what you would need.

http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/Public...

I just threw the list together right now, so I got you the lowest priced parts, but did not look for rebates or combo deals. You might be able to save some money if you look for combo deals, rebates, or buy from a local shop such as Microcenter or the bane of retail electronics, Frys.

You can omit the SSD altogether to save some money, but the I/O speed of a SSD over an HDD will give your editing programs much more responsiveness and fast startup times. If you choose not to buy a SSD, then you will need to replace the Caviar Green with a Caviar Black. The Black has better speeds than the Green, since the green is designed for mass storage, not for heavy application and OS installations.

If your software works for you right now, then there is no reason to change it. If you do decide to get some new software, Cyberlink Powerdirector 8 deluxe is an excellent program and is relatively inexpensive. The only important thing it cannot do is burn AVCHD or Blu-ray discs. The next best choice, but a little more expensive, is Magix Movie Edit Pro. It has all the features of Powerdirector, but also supports AVCHD and Blu-ray disc creation. Programs from Sony and Adobe are just as good good, but you pay for the large brand name.
