I Want To Get A Long Board And I Need Help Deciding.

I Need some picking a longboard? Im kinda big?

Sector 9 is like the Wal-Mart of longboards. They have one or two good decks, but most of their completes (pre-built boards) are crap.

For a first board, you should look at Kracked Skulls (email him and ask him to add a couple extra plies for you, as you're a heavy guy), the Earthwing Supercharger or Superglider, or maybe a Madrid Dream (there's a lot of great deals on them).

Picking a longboard deck?

There's a couple different types you can get. The first 2 are made for cruising.

Long: http://thelongboardstore.com/longboards/...
Short: http://thelongboardstore.com/longboards/...

There are also boards made for sliding: http://thelongboardstore.com/longboards/...

But I prefer a board kinda like a skateboard with a tail and nose on it so I can still do tricks and have lots of control: http://thelongboardstore.com/longboards/…

Just remember, when it comes to longboards, you get what you pay for. Meaning the more you spend on it, the longer it will last and the better it will ride.

Hope this helps and have fun with your longboard!

Best thing to ride?????? I need help deciding? easy question...?

Hi i was looking for something to ride. I dont want to ride a bike anymore so i was wondering whats better just to ride around not for doing tricks, Skateboard, rollerblades, longboards, scooter or anything else that you might suggest..
I also want to be able to jump over bumps or the curb, and anything that comes in my way. also being able to stop easily so i dont want anything electric because i want to use my muscles....
Any help will be appreciate...........

What Longboard should I get in the Sector 9 Series?

I like riding around with friends and hitting hills and getting speed but not to much because I wont have enough money for gear like helmets, gloves, etc. I have been looking at the Sector 9 Seeker board and the Sprocket and both look awesome but I really want to make a good decision because I don't want an ugly board or a Lengthy Board because that wont help me pick up chicks lol but the Sprocket and Seeker both look perfect I love the way the Board is made but my only Con is that the Design isn't that cool but that's not a BIG deal for me because the design is at the bottom of the Board im looking at a price range from about 100-200$ please tell me what type of Board I should go with.

ATTENTION LONGBOARD RIDERS!!!?

Im sorry, but Ian does not know what he is talking about.... Ferret on the other hand has more of a realistic idea that would fit your criteria.

First of all, Original Longboards are not very durable, and their Pintails are very thin, which does not help with cruising. Original trucks do not use the convention bushings setup. They use a specialized spring setup, which provides a extremely carvy ride, that becomes dull after a few days and are not versatile. The trucks are also extremely bad once you pick up speed. You will get "speed wobbles" which to a unexperienced longboarder, will cause you to crash pretty painfully. The carvy feeling of original trucks could be obtained by getting the right bushing setup (Venom SuperCarve Bushings).

Sliding is one of the perks of longboarding. With the correct wheel, they will not wear down quickly and provide a fun element to riding. This will also require to you make or buy slide gloves, which is an easy topic that could be found of silverfishlongboarding.com

Ian's suggestion about the Loaded Dancer (newly called Bhangra) would not make a good campus cruiser since it is over 4 feet long.

As for ferret's suggestion, Earthwing makes great boards for a good value. The Earthwing Supermodel 40" 9ply is one of the best Freeride (sliding/downhill) boards, and with Independent 215 trucks, Bones Hardcore bushings, minilogo bearings, and Abec11 81a BigZigs, they are a fun carvy setup.
Another great option would be the Jet Doppler setup with Paris 180, minilogo bearings, and Abec11 81a FreeRides.
Earthwing (Superglider, SuperCharger, Miniglider, BellyRacer), Landyacthz (9two5, Switch, Switchblade, Drop Cave, Drop Speed), Comet (FSM, Voodoo), Kracked Skulls (Scimitar, Gravity (Drop Carve), Jet (Crossfire, Machine), and Arbor all make great boards.

Have Fun. Enjoy the sport and remember to wear a helmet!

Rollerblades or longboard?

Personally, I'm an inline skater and I love it. But the ultimate question is, which do you think you're going to enjoy more. If you spend your money on inline skates just to fulfill the PE requirement, you may just be paying to get the credit for school. If you like inline skating, then maybe it isn't a bad idea because you can do something you enjoy and get some school credit.

However, if you don't think you're going to enjoy it and you're just going to go through the motions to get school credit, maybe you take your money and get a longboard because you'll get more enjoyment out of it.

Longboard or cruiser?

They have longboard cruisers, they have nicer wheels among other things...

I think you want a good Sector 9 Board or like a Arbor Board... To do alittle carving or downhill? (downhill carving, no sliding) including if you live in a suburban area, of like... that kinda thing.....

here are some boards....

The Arbor Timeless Pin 46"
The Arbor Fish 39"
The Sector 9 44" Peru
------------------------------
A good freestyle board for ticks, dancing, cruising, carving and downhill that's inexpensive would be The Arbor Catalyst 42" Inch
-------------------------------------

This board is really short, but I like it and I think it's cute but it's not good for downhill, just cruising, not for carving at all........ is the Puerto Rico.. it's really cute, but not what you want ^^;;;;
---------------------------------------...

I think you should go for a longboard, the wheels are bigger, when you put longboard wheels ona cruiser skateboard, it has issues, tends to wanna flip over and stuff o.O;;;;;
so yeah..........

Also you'll have a lot more fun on a longboard.... I didn't recommend loaded because they are a bit more pricey...... but I think you should go with The Arbor Catalyst 42" to have the most fun with everything from ticks to stuff.......

Also Original gets a bad rap...
THE BEST PLACE TO ASK FOR ADVICE WOULD BE HERE.......

http://www.silverfishlongboarding.com/

IF YOUR INTO TRYING ABIT OF EVERYTHING GO FOR THE ARBOR CATALYST 42", AND DO CARVING, AND FREESTYLE AND TRICKS AND STUFF.....
IF YOUR NOT INTO TRYING DOWNHILL, OR FLIP TRIPS, MANUALS AND STUFF, GO FOR.....

IF YOUR NOT INTO THAT AND REALLY INTO CARVING GO FOR LIKE...... THE SECTOR 9 PERU OR THE ARBOR FISH

IF YOU REALLY JUST WANT A CRUISER BOARD AND THATS IT GO FOR THE PUERTIO RICO,

BUT I THINK YOU'LL LIKE THE CATAYLST THE MOST, THE 42" INCH ONE....
