I Will Start Studying Mining Engineering In Australia From Feb 2015 Just Finished My A Levels. I

I have 14 backlogs in engineering. Should I give up my life?

Well. I had 37 backlogs in my B.Tech (Most of them I grabbed due to my low internal marks). A very few of my college mates (like me ) believed that I could pass. I had a good academic records till my Engineering. But from the 1st day it self during the course, I lacked the path. I don't want to blame my teachers alone for my internals because I had my own part in lowering it :). Many of my friends said me to give up and join any other diploma/course. Some of the papers I wrote more than 3 times and just fail. It was a turning point when my S7 results came. Most of the back benchers passed because it is going to be the end of the Course, but I got most number of backlogs in S7. Even in our farewell meeting teachers were busy asking our class toppers what's next, do this course like that. I sadly thought , “I don't know if I complete my course or not”Till that time I didn't reveal parents about my backlog history. My hall ticket has caught red handed by my Parents. They didn't scolded me, instead motivated by stories inside BIBLE as well as of other great personalities in the world. I really started my course then and with GODs grace and confidence I passed all papers as 37–21, 21–18, 18–2 and 2–0. I passed…….. magical moment for our family and I believed it is one among the best in my life.I was in a computer course by HCL at that time which changed me a lot in terms of personality and technical domain. I tried for many jobs and then I went for servicing PCs at home.At that time one of my friend said that there is some opening in Sutherland Cochin, Kerala, a bpo mnc. I went for an interview there and surprisingly I cleared all the rounds and got job as Technical Consultant.I stayed there for less that one year. After that I have done some certifications, got a job in another company, Admin-ahead. Then I moved to EY (it is hard for me to believe that I got job in Ernst and Young) and then after 4.5 years of experience, moved to IBM as a Technical specialist, stayed there for 2 years and now working with Eurofins, a product based company with decent package and good profileI worked in four MNC, learned many technologies and taken certifications, Earned many best performer awards and created multiple innovative tool sets which is now being used in EY and IBM around the globe. So go forward trusting in GOD (I believe there is only ONE which has no religion), confidence and try, try and try. You will definitely succeed. No one is stopping you from doing things

I'm a girl and I'm average at Maths and Physics. Am I capable of studying aerospace or aeronautical engineering?

Dear fellow aeronautics lover,I don't know if you have heard of a man called Wernher Von Braun, he is one of the pillars of modern rocketry (a field closely allied to your aspirations). Wernher was born in an aristocratic German family and was a rather indifferent student. 1925, Von Braun attended a boarding school  where he did not do well in physics and mathematics. There he acquired a copy of Die Rakete zu den Planetenräumen (1923) ("By Rocket into Planetary Space") (in German). The book ignited a passion in him and from then on he applied himself diligently to the study of mathematics and physics. These subjects were no longer a hindrance to him, he realized that these subjects were his biggest friends when it came to understanding his chosen field. Because his passion fueled him, studying these subjects turned from a chore to a joy. Von Braun eventually went on to develop the worlds first ballistic missile (the V-2 rocket) and then went on to develop the huge Saturn V booster that put Niel Armstrong on the moon.Ever heard of Homer Hickam? He was born into a middle class family in a coal mining town in the American south, after Sputnik was put into orbit, he devoted himself to rocketry despite skepticism form his family and friends, he eventually went on to train astronauts for the American space program. Again, his passion fueled his interest in academics, driving him to excel. The point is that you wish to be an aeronautical engineer. At the risk of sounding like an ignorant sexist pig, in my limited experience this is an unusual aspiration,  especially for a girl. The kind of individuals who are attracted to aeronautics tend to be extremely passionate individuals, so half your journey is already covered, all you need to do  is to channel your passion into the study of Physics and Mathematics because they will be your bread and butter as far the study of aeronautics goes. Look at this through a physical analogy, a rocket spends up to 80% of its energy just getting through the first 100 km from the earth, but later on it travels far due to the momentum it has built up. In the beginning studying these subjects will be a hard slog, but it WILL get easier, a lot easier.Good luckP.S. watch these movies: (unless you have already seen them)October SkyThe Arrow (a Canadian movie, available on youtube)The Wind Rises (a Japanese movie)

What is your review of the CIE IGCSE A levels? I'm about to start mine in the next month. What can you to tell me that I could find helpful in the future?

Hi there. Here are a few things you need to keep in your mind :A levels are diffcult as compared to GCSEsAccept the fact that A levels are a lot more conceptual as compared to IGCSEs/O level/GCSEs which naturally makes them more challenging.Revision plays a big roleEven though most concepts (whether it’s physics, chem or any other subject) could be understood with a moderate amount of effort, keeping them in your mind through constant revision from self made notes or the ones found on the internet is what you need to do.Past papers will determine your gradeThe only way to get a perfect grade like an A* is by simply attempting past papers on your ownand as many as you can, I would start from the year 2002 and complete all of them till 2017, all of the variants and both the sessions as past papers will allow you understand the question paper’s pattern and how to tackle them. Do remember that no matter how good your concepts are, without past papers, you can barely expect a good grade and score something like a D or lower. You cannot get a decent grade without understanding all the concepts completelyYou have to accept the fact that you cannot answer any sort of question whether it’s from the book or the past papers if you haven’t understood the concepts. That’s pretty much it, don’t hesitate to ask for further queries and I hope my answer was helpful.
