If A Dog Has An Eye Infection Can It Spread To Humans

Can Dogs give humans pink eye?

Yes. And humans can give it to dogs too. And botj species can give it to their own kind. It is just a bacterial infection. There is nothing magical about it being either dog or human.

Can dogs spread eye infections to humans?

I woke up with red eyes and a yellowish discharge. I already have an appointment with the doctor; but I was wondering if maybe this eye infection had something to do with my dog. He is a three month-old chihuahua and he has a swollen eye with the same yellowish discharge, but it is common for him to be like this because his eyes always get watery when he is outside. He has his shots and everything.

Can I use people drops on my cat for an eye infection?

Rule of thumb is to use only veterinary approved drops in a cat's eye. This could be a human drop, but call the vet and let them tell you whether it is safe for your kitty with the symptoms kitty has.

You can use plain saline solution without any problem. I have used that in my cats' and dog's eyes as approved by their vet.

I do know that the Visine and other such 'get the red out' drops are not safe because of the drying effect of the medicine in them.

Please don't try to treat kitty's eye for more than a day or two on your own. It is good there is no yellow discharge, but swelling shut is not a good sign. Please make an appointment soon with the vet.

Purrs to you and kitty.

I have a sinurs infection and my eyes are seeping pus.?

Hey, Muffin - Sounds like you may have an acute sinusitis. The pus (white blood cells / WBC's) that's coming from your eyes is most likely due to upper nasal congestion closing off the ends of your tear ducts, which end up draining down the back of your throat. Close of the drain, the stuff has to go somewhere, so it leaks out your tear ducts. Ten-to-one odds on your eyes not being infected (bacterial / viral conjunctivitis) but rather just irritated by the stuff washing across them. But the only way to get rid of that much junk in your head is gonna be antibiotics and a major decongestant with a mucolytic.

See your doc as soon as you can. Good luck.

Can dogs give humans STDs?

Ajax contains a very strong clhorine bleach, and is highly toxic/poisonous if ingested. You need to get him to an emergency room immediately if you are serious about him having had Ajax in his mouth.

Very few diseases transmit between dogs and humans. Chlymydia, often found in dog eye infections, is one that can spread, but other than that there are no STDs that can be transmitted between dogs and people.

There are plenty of harmful bacteria that can be transmitted howeer, such as Staph, strep, Enterococci, etc.

For the most part however, a dog's penis, like his mouth, is not very dirty, and is in fact much cleaner, from a bacterial load perspective, than a human mouth. You shouldn't have done anything about it other than to rinse out with water or a mouthwash.

Is dog saliva harmful for human health? How concerned should I be if my dog accidentally breaks my skin? How about minute amounts of dog saliva on my skin?

I have had dogs my entire life and growing up my parents were breeders. I played with puppies who peed and pooped on me as a kid. There were tons of kisses. Even now, despite not wanting dog hair and saliva in my mouth, the dogs manage to find moments where they stick their nose right in my mouth. Sometimes their nose is covered in chewed dog food-ew. Besides being a little disgusted, no harm has ever come from any of that. Plus, I only know what I see on their mouths. Anything could be lurking around in there. I’ve seen dogs eat disgusting things! I’m sure all of that is tracked back to me, one way or another.I have dobermans and have been the victim of an accidental bite now and then over the years. Even an accident can leave a very nasty wound. My palm was punctured straight through from one side to the other. I did not see a Dr. I have a scar that is several inches on the back of my hand from playing frisbee with a Jack Russell 20 years ago. It was fine. When I have scratches or cuts the dogs always lick them, it’s been okay for nearly 50 years without any problem.I make sure to get a tetanus shot every 10 years. Tetanus comes from the soil so there’s a chance you could get dirt in your wound. My dogs have their rabies vaccinations. If I notice a bite getting infected (only once in my life) I go to the Dr. It’s basically common sense as you would watch any wound for infection. If dog saliva was dangerous, I would already been dead!P.S. I live in a farming community. You have no idea how much excrement gets on animal farmers. Saliva is hardly noticeable. There is also blood, feces, birthing fluids when a large animal gives birth, contact with animal placenta, vomit….the list goes on and on. In todays world many people forget about these things and can become so paranoid that they think a lick from your own pet dog may be scary. Farmers are always covered in scrapes and broken skin. They do not run away from the pastures every time an animal leaks something on them to go sanitize themselves— only to go back out and have it happen again. They shower at the end of the day. Farmers I’ve met are some of the healthiest people I’ve ever known. Mankind would not exist if contact with animals and animal bodily fluids were commonly dangerous. There are always stories of exceptions but as a rule-it’s fine. Possibly good for your immune system.
