If I Have To Go To Court Is There A Way To Find Out Before I Recieve A Letter In The Mail

Is there a way to find out what time the mail is delivered to my house?

Mail delivery can vary depending on a million factors. Surveys tell the PO that customers want delivery every day at the same time but carriers have to SORT the mail first before they can deliver it. Some days you get tons of mail to hand sort, other days you get very little. Some days you have to get out for almost every house to deliver a package, some days you dont. Some days you get 2 certified letters which require a signature (say 5 minutes each) some days you get 20. Some days your vehicle works, some days it breaks down. Some days no one talks to you, some days a lonely old lady wants to talk to you because she is lonely and you are the only person she sees ever and you feel like an ass telling her “look, I’m on a deadline, I have to go.” Other days someone just wants to complain about the Post Office for 15 minutes. Some days you dont have to change any locks on the boxes at apartments/condos, some days you have to change 10. Some days you dont have any junk mail that goes in every box, some days you have 3 sets. Most days your regular carrier delivers the mail, some days a substitute does it who isnt familiar with the route. Some days the carrier feels great, other days they are sick or in pain and moving slow. Some days there is no traffic, other days there is a 10 car pileup due to an ice storm and even AFTER you get past the wreck, you can barely drive because of the ice or people not clearing the snow away from the curb 15 feet before and 10 feet after their box.

How long does it take for inmates to receive their mail in prison? Specifically, how long does it take for those who have been arrested and are awaiting trial?

Legal mail for the most part is timely. However, personal mail is not priority and is not as important to staff as it is inmates. Different facilities may have different standards. An inmate can look at the stamped postage date and begin to establish a time frame to recieve a letter sent. If a letter sent Thursday gets to the facility Friday afternoon it still must be inspected. Mail is usually not done per individual. Meaning that to deliver one inmate a letter takes little time, but it is one of many and not priority. So even though mail made it to the facility Friday, it may not be till Tuesday or Wednesday till the inmate gets it. Monday holidays add extra time, and mail stacks up on weekens.

Is a letter considered legally received when it is postmarked?

Actually, the situation is that I sent payments usually couple of days before it is dued to privately owned company (and I did get a certification of mailing which had the postmark stamped by a postal worker at the post office each time I mailed the payment) The company at this time is claiming that on some occasions that the payment is received on time and some times the payment receive the payment late. They are placing late charges for each time they claim the payment arrives lates.

So I am trying to figure how mail is regulated in united states. AND why and how privately owned companies like billing companies, insurance, and etc can claim something is late when a goverment agency such as IRS and etc will honor the postmark stamped by post office as "post of service."

And what I can do legally to remove late charges...

I have literally search high and low for answer/law/rule about this...and I run into dead end.... help

How can I keep lawyers from sending mail to my house after a ticket?

I just received a ticket this afternoon and since I have received one before my parents told me if i got another I would be paying for my insurance. I live in NC but got the ticket in SC for 69 in a 60 mph zone. So my point is if i can get it dropped, which i might since its not real bad and im out of state, I'd rather save myself the headache of telling them since it might not effect my insurance rates. The only problem is the crap tone of mail you get from all the lawyers wanting to represent you. Is there anyway i can keep them from sending any or....how long do they normally send mail until they stop? any other info would be helpful :)

How long does it take to receive mail from jail ?

Trooper is absolutely correct but I have to disagree with another poster who claims outbound mail is read. It is against the law for any outbound mail to be opened and read unless we have a court order stating to do so.

All incoming mail is scanned for illegal contraband and gang related writing, but it is not "read".

Mail is sent out by the jail Monday through Friday each morning and incoming mail is picked up at the same time. Allow the normal time for any letter to be sent this same distance as you are from the jail and add one more morning for the outbound letter to be handed to the Post Office.

Best of luck and I hope this is useful to you

In georgia if you receive a 3 days notice to pay rent or quit and letter is dated?

He was not supposed to mail the thing, that is why it is hard to give you an answer.

The judge might throw this out because of the mailing, so the landlord would be wise to count from the 9th before he files the eviction.

He can go to court for full rent and court cost, it will be up to the tenant to prove the amount is wrong. It will not stop the eviction though, if rent is not paid in full it is still an unlawful detainer.

No lawyer will help you unless you pay in advance. This whole case is about you being unwilling to pay your bills as contracted. They know that your ethics will include them too, so they want cash up front. It is also very unlikely that you have a legitimate legal reason to not pay your rent, and they hate signing up to loose cases, stats are kept on them.

How long does it usually take prisoners in jail to get letters that were mailed to them?

Figure as long as it would take a normal letter to that area, then add a day for the jail to inspect and process.
