If I Mix Developer With Purple Hair Dye Will It Make It A Light Purple

Can I use a 40 developer creme with my hair dye to put on my bleached hair? What will this creme do to blonde hair dye on bleached golden blonde?

40 volume developer is used to lift color of the hair 3-4 different levels. It's rather complicated in speaking. You really wouldn't want to use 40 volume developer with permanent color to achieve a color. You would use 40 volume developer with either bleach (in rare cases) and you would also use 40 volume developer with a color that is called a "hi-lift". A hi-lift is a color that will color and tone the hair up to 6 levels, but can only be used on virgin hair. What developers do is open or swell the cuticle of the hair so that color can enter into the hair strand. 40 volume developer is used in rare cases to really get the hair to lighten it's color. If you have already "bleached" the hair to the level that you wanted, then you would use a toner to get the desired shade. If your hair is not light enough yet, then you would want to re-bleach the hair until you get the desired level and then, again, use a toner. With fine hair, you do not want to use anything more than a 20 volume developer. For medium, you don't want to use anything higher than a 30 volume... same goes for coarse hair but in some cases a 40 volume can be used on coarse hair. What will the creme do to the blonde hair??  It will cause the hair to become very dry, very brittle, and turn it into spaghetti. I wouldn't recommend this.

Will mixing 30volume developer with semi permanent hair dye make it permanent?

Mixing a semi permanent hair color with developer will not make it a permanent color. Permanent hair color contains different ingredients that react with the developer and because semi colors do not contain those same ingredients adding the developer to it will do nothing but damage your hair. It will damage your hair more than bleaching. When bleaching hair the developer is what actually does the lightening not the powder you buy. The powder has ingredients in it to help condition the hair and protect it from the super damaging effects of developer and also has ingredients to help speed along the developers lighting power/ activate it. So, putting just developer on your hair (which is hydrogen peroxide) would lighten your hair with very damaging effects because it does not have the conditioning agents that the powder gives it. So this is why adding developer to a semi with just ruin your hair.

The bright colors you want are not natural hair colors, there for can not be a permanent hair color. The only way to get your hair those bright colors it to lighten you hair color and use a semi. Go to a salon to get your hair professionally lightened to a nice shade of a blonde so you do not damage your hair. After that, go to Sally's Beauty supply and pick up a box of Ion Color Brilliance Brights hair semi hair color in your choice. It cost about 5$ for the box of color (which is super cheap so refreshing your hair color will be super easy and inexpensive). The color lasts a few weeks and its only downfall is how thick the color is. Mix it with a little conditioner (just enough to make is a little more smooth but not too much or else it will fade the color to much) apply it to your hair, wash it out and there you go :) and to keep from fading, mix whatever color is left in the tube with some conditioner and every time you wash your hair use it as a normal conditioner and it will refresh your color and keep it lasting longer. Washing your hair every other day also helps it not fade. or if you still want to use the schwarzkopf do the exact same thing but with what color instead.

How do I get purple out of my dyed hair?

If you try to bleach it out, it might turn green. Trust me. The way I did it, I fade it as much as I can with shampoos that aren't color treated hair friendly, try to remove them with crushed vitamin C, and if nothing works, I'll resort to bleach. And if it turns green, I dyed red over it because red counters green in the color wheel.

Will mixing blonde dye with purple dye make my hair a lighter color of purple?

No, and you shouldn't mix home dye kits.

FYI:
Playing with chemicals is not like playing with paints on canvas & people violates those warnings, ignoring side effects. Even hair color experts at the salon are not rocket scientists, they do a bang up dye jobs to their clients or their own hair.

Some chemicals in hair dyes can be absorbed in small amounts through the skin or inhaled from fumes in the air.

> > > Hair dye chemicals linked to cancer
London, Feb 20, 2013 I've been saying that since 2009.
Hair dyes, which include home hair colouring kits and those used at pricey salons, are linked to deadly cancer-causing chemicals, warn scientists. In 2009 the Mail revealed that women who used hair dyes more than nine times a year had a 60% greater risk of contracting blood cancer.
A year later the European Commission banned 36 hair dyes which put long-term users at risk of bladder cancer. < < < <

How do I dye my hair purple without bleach?

There are two things to consider when coloring hair, the level you want to achieve (light vs dark) and the tone you want to achieve. The lighter the level of the hair is, the better your desired tone will show. If you just wanted a purple shine to your hair, you can put temporary purple dye over it. If you want your hair to be grape bubblegum purple, you will need to get rid of existing pigments in your hair before putting your desired purple tones over it. Using some sort of lightener is the only way to remove natural pigment from the hair. Permanent hair color uses a hydrogen peroxide developer to first, lighten the hair and second, activate the pigments in the dye. You could get a purple toned permanent hairdye and use a 40 volume developer, although a 40 volume developer will only lighten the hair 3-4 shades and, depending what level your hair starts out, can leave your hair with unwanted orange or red tones. 40 volume developer is extremely hard on the hair and is comparable damage-wise to bleaching with a 20 volume developer. Unless your hair is already light you will need to lighten it somehow, otherwise the tone won't show through over the natural pigment. All in all, getting a vibrant purple is unlikely without first lightening the hair and the most efficient way to lighten the hair is with bleach.

If I put red over blue hair dye will my hair turn purple?

Most likely, your hair will turn a vibrant blue. Green has yellow in it, which purple gets rid of. the results will be a strong blue or a dark blue. If you put red, even worse. It will turn a very unattractive greenish mud color or a muddy color. NOT PRETTY. I suggest that if you want purple hair, bleach your hair with 30 volume developer and wait for an hour. after an hour, rinse off. By this point, your hair will probably be a light turquoise green/blue which is light enough to put purple. If you want red though, you'd have to bleach it with the 30 volume, but you'd have to do a soap cap after and if it's still a vibrant green or blue, keep doing a soap cap until the color isn't strong and vibrant. Then put red on it. But your hair would most likely be badly damaged and you'd have to shave your head and start over.

Can I add developer to hair chalk (mixed with Conditioner) to dye my hair? How long will it last?

Details: the reason I ask this is because there's no place in my country to buy unnatural hair dyes. I want to dye my hair green, blue or bright purple but these colors are not available anywhere in the country and importing is waaayyyyy too expensive. So first will the hair chalk even stay on if i mix it with a developer? I don't want the color to washout completely with the first shampoo (which is what happens when I use simple chalk). Second if this works how long will it last approximately? It takes a long time for me to dye my hair so if it's going to last for a week it's not worth the hassle. Third can someone please suggest cheap hair dyes apart from manic panic, sparks, punky, directions and the other major brands since none of them are available here.

Should I go for 20 volume developer or 30?

Just a week and a half ago I dyed my hair mixing 20 volume developer with the colour I was after (Light Chestnut Ultimate Burgundy 5V) which was a purple-red burgundy colour.

My hair is only slightly showing the purple-red when I'm outdoors or under lighting, my previous hair colour was a faded darkest brown.

The lady who dyed my hair (family friend who finished a hair dressing course) told me I should dye it again in two weeks with 20 Vol Developer to get the colour more vibrant, however, I was wondering if 30 Vol would do a better job at showing the colour up? I want it as vibrant as possible without the use of bleach!

And just how damaging is 30 volume developer? Thank you!

What happens if I bleach my purple hair?

There are several answers to your question… bleach with lift (make lighter) any hair color. If you want the purple a shade or two lighter you want to use a low volume developer. (20)If you want to lift out all of the purple color you will need a higher volume (30 or 40) 40 is the highest volume BUT be advised this is very damaging to the hair. Once the color is lifted your hair will be some shade of blonde (anything from a brassy yellow to a platinum blonde)Never leave bleach on your hair longer than 30 minuets! Shampoo hair at 30 minuets, don’t use conditioner, dry your hair with a hair dryer, if the color isn’t what you want and if your hair isn’t split or damaged, you can reapply a fresh mixture of bleach for another 30 minuets and repeat the above process.
