If My Budgies Only Mated Once Will The Eggs Still Be Fertile Pls Help

My female budgie laid 3 eggs but i dont thinknshe mated???? Plz help need to know if there fertile?

First of all, parakeets DO NOT menstruate. Get a flashlight and aim it at an egg. If you see veins on it, that means the egg is fertile and a baby chick will be born in the next couple of weeks. DO NOT touch the eggs. The parakeet will become frighten and not want to sit on them if you touch them. Then, the baby won't be born and it will die while still in the egg.

Mating problems with my budgie bird .?

First of all your budgies MUST be at least 12 months old.
Especially with the female. She could get egg bound or kill the babies accidentally from being inexperienced parents. Budgies will only try to breed if there is a nest box. Perhaps your budgies just need some more time to bond. Is your female in breeding condition? You can tell if her cere (above the beak where the nostrils are) is crusty and brown. Put some calcium in the cage. I find that broccoli is a great source of calcium and cuttle fish bone too.10 - 13 hours of sunlight would also help and maybe buy a book about budgie breeding or just go onto google and research some things. Your female will lay eggs anyway without the male. These eggs are called infertile eggs. Just remember if you see eggs than dont get your hopes up. If you do want to find out if the eggs are fertile torch them. Place the egg on a torch and see if there is any veins.

You cant force your budgies to breed. It is something that happens naturally.
Or maybe the female just doesnt like the male.
Good luck. :)

I don't know if my budgies egg is fertile or infertile?

24 days is too long for a fertile egg to hatch. My budgie began sitting on the egg this August 30 and it hatched today, September 16. (That was exactly 18 days.) Using a flashlight is a good idea for determining fertile or infertile eggs! If you shine a flashlight on an infertile egg, it would be light in color and appear bright. However, fertile eggs would appear dark, and do not let light pass through. They would also have red veins in it when you shine on one. It appears that the eggs you have are infertile. If ever they are infertile, don't remove them right away. Let the hen sit on them until she gets tired. This would satisfy her breeding condition and prevents her from laying another clutch again until the next breeding season; as excessive egg-laying is bad for her.

How long does it take for a female parakeet to lay her eggs?

14 days after the first mating she will lay an egg, they will need toe mate every day after that to lay another egg (fertile) she should lay an egg every day after the first egg until her clutch is complete! 17-21 days after the first egg they will begin to hatch keeep an eye out for pip marks ;)

Uhh excuse me Rachel they need to mate everytime before laying a new egg so it is fertilized! one mate only produce one fertile egg silly, not all her eggs are in her at one.. when she lays the first one the second one is starting to develop so they need to mate again to fertilize it!

How long does it take for a canary to lay an egg after mating?

Hello.
After they mate , it takes a few days for a female to lay eggs . After she laid eggs , it takes 2_3 weeks for the eggs to hatch ( my canaries only took them 2 weeks, but I know heard some pairs take up to 3 weeks ) . The babies will know how to fly out of a nest in 3_4 weeks . TM.

How long does it take after mating for a female zebra finch to lay her eggs?

A finch egg could potentially be fertilized from copulation 24 hours prior to laying. A single mating can fertilize an entire clutch. Subsequent matings may enhance the probability of fertilization.

The female has the ability to store sperm in storage tubules for an extended period. I don't know exactly how long finch species can store viable sperm, but it is at least two weeks and probably longer. Larger birds (i.e. turkeys and some waterfowl species), have produced fertile eggs more than 60 days after copulation.

That being said...... While 14 days is a pretty good average for the birds listed, as long as people realize that the birds don't start incubating when the first egg is laid. Many birds don't start the incubation process until about the 3rd egg, and some will wait until the last egg is laid. There are several variables involved with the incubation process. Some birds won't sit as tight as others and it will take longer to hatch the eggs.

Do female parakeets lay eggs even if they dont mate?

Yes all female birds are capable of laying eggs, even in the absence of a male bird. This does not mean it WILL happen, but it is possible.

Do keep an eye out for possible egg binding. This is a life threatening emergency. Also, continued egg laying can seriously deplete and exhaust the bird, causing illness and death. If this does happen, there are steps you can take to help stop the egg laying.

Budgie hen raising chicks alone?

Hello everyone. This i believe can be answered by those who already had similar situations in their flocks. i have 2 pairs of budgies, 2 hens and 2 males. One of the hens mated with one of the males and now has 3 fertile eggs out of 5 (i candled them and 2 seems to be infertile). so far so good, but after some time the second hen started mating and she didn't like the second male but she chose the first male which already has eggs with first hen. so the question is: Will the first hen be able to raise the chicks on her own if the male decides to stop feeding her? now both males try to feed her but she accepts food only from the one she mated with. I am worried what will happen if he decides to completely leave her and not feed her nor the chicks. Moggie I see you are an expert in budgies so please answer.

Thanks a lot

Nikola
