If You Steal Something From Walmart And They Where To Call Your House

How long do you have to get caught from stealing from Walmart if you’re not caught in store? My friend steals from Walmart and I’m sure they have his plate number. He said he hasn’t done it in a while. What are the chances he’ll be arrested later on?

Walmart once thought that I was a thief. I purchased a store display television back in the pre-flat screen days. I carried it out over my shoulder and the store security officer decided that, because the TV was not in a box, I was stealing it.The security officer and his cohorts attempted to stop me as I left. No request to see a receipt, simply an order to stop walking. I do not take orders from strangers who are not police, so I continued walking out the door.He tailed me uttering many threats which I ignored. I am nearly six and a half feet tall and work out often so I felt that there was little he could do. I placed the television into my car.The security officer then attempted to block my vehicle in the space it was parked. However, he neglected to note that there was no car parked to my vehicle’s front and I simply drove over the small median with my SUV.As I drove away the officer exclaimed that he would call the police. He also followed me to my home.I never heard another thing about this.Walmart security thought I stole a high dollar item, noted my plate number, obtained my address, and called the police. Nothing was ever done and I continued to shop at Walmart.I doubt your friend has much to worry about if he stops stealing from them.

Stealing alcohol from Walmart?

If the management @ Walmart is smart there are a couple of layers of security you would have to get through to make it out with the alcohol.

First, the cameras in the area of the beer aisle. Since that would be a "hot product" for thieves they probably watch that area very closely.

Second, store security "floorwalkers". Look like shoppers, act like shoppers, work like a security force! They have a habit of "frequenting" areas with high risk product. Home electronics, Office supplies, automotive, beer aisle, etc. If these people are any good at what they do, you don't know they are not shoppers ... until they bust you for lifting goods.

Last, security around the doors. Once again, if they are any good at what they do, you don't see them until they got you. The office where the cameras are monitored is usually near the main exits, so the monitoring personnel can quickly get into position to stop a theft attempt, and there are "front end" personnel (cashiers, baggers, management, etc) that can also the "repurposed" to stopoping theft attempts.

If you steal from walmart and they dont detain you then can they issue a warrant after you get home?

They need to catch you in the store, they dont usually have any kind of leg to stand on if you leave the property. The only proof they have is the tape.....but you cannot tell faces on those tapes. I would ask to see it. Then ask then how they know you did not pay?? If they lost sight of the theft for even 2 seconds, they cannot prove that anything was taken. What im trying to say is they have no "proof" that anything was stolen, you could probably win in court.

the only time I have ever seen them actually call the cops on someone and arrest them at home is if they have alot of evidance on multiple tapes, with multiple thefts. But then they still had to catch them in the store.

What happens if you get caught at Walmart stealing?

Depending on the laws of your state, any number of things could happen.

Would it go on your permanent record?
Yes and no, it will go on your record for a period of time. But a judge could call for the charge of theft to be removed if you completed a probationary period.

Would it be on the news?
I doubt that the news would be interested in a local shoplifting case unless it was a slow news day. But most newspapers printout a police blotter on all people who are arrested. While you wouldn't headline the news, it is possible your name could appear on a Google search with the charge.

What if it was like 20.00 dollars worth of theft?
It wouldn't matter, if Walmart chose to press charges for shoplifting you will still be cited and ordered to appear in court.

How much would it all cost?
Depending on your state's laws you could see anywhere between $250-$300 for a fine (if what you stole was under $100) if you plead guilty $300 or more if you decide to hire an attorney to represent and plead your case.

How long would you stay in juvie or jail if your 18?
If you are 18 you wouldn't go to juvie, you would likely go to jail but again this depends on the laws of your state and the order from the judge.

Walmart could make the choice in not charging you and it wouldn't be on your record and you wouldn't have to go to trial. The store manager could just drop all charges (since they also want you to spend money at Walmart) you may get a lecture or they'll call your parents. You may even get trespassed from the store.

In a larger perspective, stealing things from a store causes a store to increase their prices to other customers because they need to make up sales for what they lost due to theft. I don't think it's fair that someone has to pay more money simply because you thought you could get a five finger discount.

What happens if u get caught stealing like at walmart ?

I know they have options like if they catch you they can give you a warning they can ban you from that store they can just fine you or they can call the cops and press charges aka prosecute you if they prosecute you what exactly happens like punishment wise you go to court and what happens like whats the normal punishment ? what happens if they dont have you on video can you just lie and deny it or i even heared that some walmarts are such ***** that if you they dont catch you on video they try to lie and add more charges so they can make more money

Can walmart send police to your house?

long story short i took medication from walmart but noo one stopped me. i got really paranoid so like 15 minutes later i went back into the walmart and basically sat in customer service for a while but again no one came for me. i thought i heard someone talking about it on the walkie talkie but would they stop me in walmart or send police to my house?

I got caught stealing from Walmart. Whats gonna happen to me?

I have a friend who works in security in our local Walmart

they do not play around when it comes to theft --- even if all you got caught taking was as 25 cent item

they would rather nail you hard in the hopes that the lesson sticks so you won't steal again

they can & do prosecute ---- they do not have to give you any kind of ticket at the time --- they will let the police come by your house to arrest you..... you will then be put in jail, possibly bonded out... and then go to court... either directly from jail or while out on bail

at court, it will be determined (1) what you owe Walmart (2) what you owe in court costs (3) what type of program you will be going into.. for example, many have to go to certain classes or counseling... at your own expense (4) how long you will be on probation & how often visits to probation officer... with monthly payments at your expense

around here.... the theft of that $2 item... could easily end up costing over $600

when my son was 7, he stole a cool looking eraser from a local art supply store... I discovered he had it in the car about a block after we left..... I immediately drove him back to the store... made him return the eraser, give an apology.. and also brought him back on the following Saturday (he had to miss his best friend's bday party) to help clean floors ---- he is now in his early 20s & has thanked me for that lesson... unlike some of his friends, he never tried to steal anything because the lesson of scrubbing floors instead of going to bday party is forever burned in his brain

What happens to an employee of walmart if they are caught stealing?

The store (if she was seen) will investigate more to see if she has done any other thefts. Once the investigation is complete or near complete she will be called in to Loss prevention office. There she will be questioned by LPN about this and any other incident. Once interview is done she will either be fired or suspended without pay. Its also possible she will be turned over to Police at that time and arrested. If she is called in she should answer no questions without an Attorney present. The LPN will already know what he is going to do talking to your friend will only enhance their case
