Im 12 Years Old And Weigh 100 Pounds And My Height Is 5

I am 11-years-old and weigh 102 pounds. Am I overweight?

Hello! Height and muscle density matter, so does overall health. It is never my wish that anyone, especially at your young age, would have these concerns. Eat well and exercise a few times a week, get plenty of sleep at night (10-12 hours for your age), limit technology, focus on your studies and choosing healthy and friendly peers, and everything else will fall in place.❤

I am 12 years old, 5'3″ tall, and weighs 133 pounds. Am I overweight?

Yes, but did you know lead weighs more than helium? Or, that African Elephants are larger than Asian elephants? Also kinda interesting, but just as irrelevant, that muscle weighs more than fat? At least I assume so since muscle is more dense than fat.So if you are the muscular 12 year old that lifts heavy objects for fun you could look thin, but be super, duper, strong. Maybe you lift cars, or motorcycles for fun?The important thing to remember is you may look considerably larger than the kids your age, but looks aren't everything. Do not worry if it makes you uncomfortable to be so large. It's nothing that a healthy diet can't fix. If you can't change your diet, then try to take care and love yourself. You are so young to be worrying about being overweight and all the problems associated with that. It might help you to study nutrition, and take up a sport, or other enjoyable activity like dance, or gymnastics.

I'm 10 years old, but 130 pounds. Am I overweight or fat?

I would not do drastic changes without consulting a doctor. That said, if you are overweight, it means your current diet is not optimal for your body. There are a few changes you can do that are very safe and easy. You don't provide much detail in your post, so I can only make assumptions.First, what do you normally drink? I know at your age I drank lots of sodas. One single can of soda has more sugar than an adult male should consume in an entire day. All the extra sugar just gets stored as fat. Consider drinking water instead. Not juice, not diet soda, just plain water.I also had candy and desert every chance I got. Consider skipping the desert or having some fruit instead. Many kids avoid vegetables. I know kids that have never had a salad until they were 20. Ideally one should eat vegetables in every single meal. Those are weight loss 101 tips. Those are low risk things you can do. No doctor will advice against those things. What you don't want to do is stop eating and starve yourself to lose weight. Not only it's not effective, but it is flat out dangerous. This is really where you want professional help. You are about to go through puberty, this makes it very easy for you to slim down, but you do need to improve your habits.Losing weight and keeping it off is hard work. It will mean permanent changes to your lifestyle. Changing any habit is hard work. You might read the advice above and think it would be to hard to do. The good news is that you get used to it. If you were to start today, a month from now it would be second nature to you.

How much should a 12 year old girl weigh (pounds)?

Thank you for all the great answers! I'm average. 80 pounds. It's sad to see that some of my friends are 60 pounds but they're like so short tehy look like 5 year olds.

I'm 12 years old. Is it normal that I'm 5'7" and weigh 136 pounds?

You are tall for your age.You already know that from looking around at your peers.Given your height, your weight is normal. Now, when I was 12, I was 5′4″ and weighed as much as you do. I was a little fat girl. I had thunder thighs :(Two years later I was 5′6″ and weighed 105 lbs, which was not healthy because I was athletic and I had a lot of muscle weight. It was not my fault! I ate and ate and ate and I was still too skinny for the next two decades. I caught everything that was going around. When I was around 40 I finally reached 125 lbs and then I stopped getting sick.Better to be 5 lbs over perfect than 5 lbs under perfect I say.

I am 12 years old, 63 inches, and weigh 120 pounds. Are these stats normal?

In the United States, most males at age twelve stand at 5′1.2″ [1]. You’re above average, but healthy. In the United States, 117.8 lbs at 5′1.5″ is within the normal range of BMI, therefore, it’s healthy [2].You’re also likely to have only just begun puberty [3]. In this case, your weight, and height will soon change dramatically. If you’ve begun puberty earlier, visit your doctor to assure that the higher chances of stunted development don’t impact you.Footnotes[1] https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/se...[2] Calculate Your BMI - Standard BMI Calculator[3] Disorders of Puberty

Is it normal for a 12-year-old to weigh 170 pounds? I’m 5′5 and very self-conscious.

Google BMI calculatorI don’t want to offend you, but I’ve been reading some other responses and they’re all optimistic and telling you to be yourself. Although I definitely recommend motivation and optimism, I feel like you’d be frustrated at those responses, and you just want a straight answer, blunt or not, cause I have been there. No, it is not “normal” considered by science, but these days, it is very normal. I would say around 20–25 BMI is the “normal” range. I am 5′7″, and 170 pounds for my height would be considered overweight, but don’t mope just yet! Since you are 12, I would say to definitely not worry about it because you have not hit puberty yet. Many kids pack on fat but it shreds when they grow and therefore they become skinnier but taller. I cannot tell you countless of my friends growing up fat and at 100 pounds become so so skinny as teenagers, they literally are a twig.I’m assuming that since you are 12, you indulge in some junk food and candy, stuff like that. And guess what? That is OKAY. I literally do it right now, actually, as I am writing this response. We live in a world where food is in abundance, it becomes our comfort. As kids, we are driven to like sweet and hate those bland, healthy foods that adults consume. At 12 years old, you should most definitely not be trying a fitness fad like diets, fasting, or bodybuilding. Your body and bones are not completely developed for those. I would highly not recommend it.What I do recommend, if you want to lose weight, which I’m sure is one of the responses you’re looking for, would be trying out for a sports team. It forces you to have to go to them and be active. You can make friends and love the sport too. Win-win.Because you are 12. I don’t recommend anything but sports. Try walking/biking to school instead of driving, Don’t spend hours on the TV. I think that as you grow up, you will learn that little things can make such a big difference. But before doing all this, consider whether it is worth it.Trust me fully when I tell you this, I understand. I understand the struggle and the lack of self-confidence you have. Today, we have a permanent obsession with being skinny. I am no stranger to the crisis of confidence. It is difficult to understand how in the first place we got into this situation where it is normal to be at war with our own bodies. But remember, no matter what life throws your way, the best reaction you can have is to love yourself unconditionally.
