Insanity Workout Questions

Insanity workout question?

I'm thinkin of trying Insanity workout videos...I'm not horribly out of shape but I know it will be a big challenge!
I need to lose about 30 lbs & I really would like to try it but I'm getting discouraged as it says its not for beginners...I do consider myself a beginner becuz all the people on the infomercial are in shape
Anyway do u think I can try it and modify the moves to something more my level?

Insanity workout questions?

Do the fit test. It is hard than you think it is...it is a great way to see your endurance and strength improve. Trust me. You can start on any day you want just put an date or a mark so you know you did the workout. It is nice to have the rest day on the weekend.

If you miss a workout do the workout that you missed - you will be a day behind, but there is a reason why Shaun T sequences the workouts this way. Do them in order...miss one...no worries follow the calendar.

Good luck love, love the workout! Email me if you have more questions

After 'Insanity' Workout, Chocolate Milk question...?

I keep seeing this chocolate milk question pop up and I'm not sure why.

The idea behind chocolate milk as a recovery drink revolves around the fact that it contains protein and carbohydrates, both being things you need after a workout. The problem is that right after your workout you want a quick-digesting protein, like whey. Milk's protein is 20% whey but 80% casein, which takes 4+ hours to digest. This does not fit into the optimal "1 hour window" after your workout.

If you cannot afford the recovery formula, don't sweat it. You can buy cheap whey protein powders from the store or places like GNC. I would recommend these over chocolate milk or the pricey recovery powders. Most whey protein powders will be low in carbohydrates so either get a flavor you like and drink it along with fruit or fruit juice, or you can get vanilla whey protein powder and make a smoothie with fruit/fruit juice. This is a better way to go since fruit contains carbohydrates and other nutrients instead of just sugar (in chocolate milk).

If you really don't want to do that, I would recommend chocolate or vanilla soy milk (sweetened or unsweetened...if unsweetened pair with fruit or fruit juice) as soy protein digests faster than casein. If any of this is confusing you can email me (lovelifting@ymail.com).

How long does an Insanity workout last?

The first month, given the fact that every workout lasts somewhere between 35-45 minutes, and considering a minute or two as to prepare for it (get a towel, water, cover the floor, maybe hook you laptop to a TV), not that much. The videos for the second month though usually last for around 55 minutes to an hour. So even with adding the time for shower, you are done in less than one hour and a half.

What workout do you do on day two of Insanity?

I use a combination of HIIT exercises for lower body, followed by a pilates burnout round, the kickboxing and end with upper body weight training, after which I cool down with some yoga. I usually go for Fitness Blender workouts(you can find them on youtube/their website) and for yoga, I either pick something from Tara Stiles or Yoga with Adrienne.  If you want two days, the next day I'd go easier on the lower body and I'd focus more on upper body and core, although I do not recommend going 2 days in a row like this.
