What is a good average GPA in high school?

This all depends on what your goals are in further education and career. The word 'good' can mean different things for different people. A GPA of 2.5 (C+) is enough to attend most state schools or community colleges. With this GPA you would be considered slightly above the average. More competitive schools, i.e. ones with an acceptance rate under 50%, like to see a 3.0 (B) or higher. This would mean that you are a solid student with respectable grades. If you wish to attend very respectable, competitive universities, a GPA of at least 3.5 (borderline B+/A-) is preferable. For the most competitive schools in the nation (Princeton, Harvard, Stanford, Yale, etc.) you shouldn't even bother applying if your GPA is anything under a 3.7 (A-). Schools like this like seeing a GPA of 3.9 and above. Keep in mind that a 4.0 GPA is not the maximum, as advanced placement classes and other credits increase your number. The highest GPA ever recorded was a 10.03 (wow!) received by Florida high school student Dhara Patel. Also note that GPA is not the decisive factor of your future. If your GPA is a bit low, but you are heavily involved in other activities and have decent test scores, colleges and employers might give you a chance.Getting back to your initial question, any GPA over a 2 will be seen as desirable by someone, but note that higher level opportunities typically like seeing higher GPA's. Personally, I believe that anything over a 2 is okay, anything over a 3 is decent, anything over a 3.5 is good, and a 4 or higher is excellent. Again, it's all about the standard you want to achieve. For some people average is excellent, and for others 99th percentile is lacking.

Is a 3.5 gpa good in high school?

I just finished my sophomore year and I'm not gonna lie I f@$ked up. Out of the two semesters I got five b's and the rest are a's. This year I got a hard English teacher, and math teacher and I usually don't struggle in those classes but I tried my best and I still got a b. I say I messed up because in my language class, I didn't try my best. I can speak that language fluently but I got a b because I constantly talked with people and didn't listen. Now I'm regretting what I did and I feel I ruined my chances at good colleges.

I think that's pretty good. A high B average right?
I have a 3.0 GPA. Man, I wish I was in your shoes.

Is a 3.56 GPA good for sophomore year in high school?

Did you give a reasonable effort? Did you attend class? Did you take copious notes in class? Did you do your homework? Did you do your reading assignments? Did you study a reasonable amount? If they answer is yes to all of those, then Yes whatever GPA you had is good. It doesn’t matter if you got a 2.0 or a 4.0 it is good. If however, you didnt’ try hard and didn’t study hard and you got a 3.56, then NO it’s not good. It’s not the score, it’s the effort.

Is a 3.5 GPA good for Sophmore Year in High School?

It all depends on the college. The nation's best public and some private universities mostly admit students with a average GPA of 3.6. This is an AVERAGE and 3.5 is really close. It is your 1st semester sophomore GPA so if you raise it and show improvement, colleges will recognize your ability to be better.

Middle school GPA 3.5 good?

You need to look at the GPA scale of you school. If your school is currently on a 4.0 scale, than a 3.5 would be the equivalent to A's with a few B's tossed in. If your school is base on a 6 GPA scale or higher, then it would be a different story.

Find out what grade scale you school is operating under. Also, call the high schools that you are interested in and ask them what a typical grade point average (GPA) of a student that is accepted at their school. You may need to perform some cross multiplication if the grade scales differ from each other.

Could a highschool sophomore with a 3.5 GPA raise it to a 4.0? How so?

Just running a few numbers real quick, it definitely is possible, but you have to work at it for sure.  Lets look at some numbers:You can do this yourself by doing (3.563 * 65   + (estimated GPA) * 97) / 162 If you get a 4.0 in every class from now until you graduate with 162 credits your GPA will be 3.825.If you averaged a 3.9, your GPA would be a 3.767If you averaged a 3.8, your GPA will end up at 3.70 I noticed that you said you want to get into medical school.  You can definitely get into med schools with a 3.5 GPA, but you will be on the lower end of accepted GPAs.  Even bringing your GPA up to a 3.6 would make your application look a lot better.  I wouldn't worry too much over your GPA though.  Keep working hard and doing the best you can in your classes.  If you haven't started shadowing doctors do that now. Get to know your science professors and get really solid letters of recommendation.  Try to volunteer in positions that give you access to patients.  Work your way up to leadership in a school club.  Study for the MCAT.  It is definitely possible to get into med schools with a 3.5 GPA. I don't know if its possible to get in with a 3.5 GPA if you don't do the things in the paragraph above. (Even with 3.8 GPA, if you don't do the things above it's hard to get in)
