Is Is Socially Acceptable For An Adult Without A Child To Ride A Carousel

What is the difference between a Merry Go Round and a Carousel?

there is no difference.

What is the difference between a Carousel and a Merry-go-Round?

Tiamat has gotten the right answer, and will be awarded the 10 points when I am allowed to pick a best answer. Thank you to all others who has answered. I hope you are happy with your two points. LoL.

Describe all forces acting on a child riding horse on a merry-go round. which of these forces provides the cen

The guy above me is kind of right, but he left some stuff out. I can give you a complete list of forces acting on the child:

1) Force of gravity (due to child having a mass).
2) Normal force pushing up on child (equal to the force of gravity, because there's no net acceleration in the vertical direction).
3) Static friction between child and horse.
4) Centripetal force (pointing toward the center of the circular ride)

Of the four mentioned forces, force #4 (centripetal force) is obviously the one the causes centripetal acceleration (ac).

ac = mv^2/r

The greater the tangential velocity (speed) of the ride, the greater the centripetal acceleration, and therefore, the greater the centripetal force pulling you toward the center of the circle. Since merry-go-round is sooo slow, you don't feel much of a centripetal force, which tells you that the centripetal acceleration is very small.

For my AP Physics class, we went to an amusement park (Cedar Point), and we measured the centripetal accelerations of various rides. They had something similar to the merry-go-round. The centripetal acceleration was so little, our measuring devices could barely calculate it.

How do homeschooled children make friends?

I know a lot of people have answered this already, but here's my take. I was homeschooled all the way from preschool through high school. After senior year of high school, I stepped directly into college with no problem. I really had no issues socially, mentally, or educationally. I am the second of four girls, so there was never a shortage of action at my house. I was not lonely. My sisters, especially my older sister, are still some of my best friends. I must add SOME, because my sisters are definitely not my only friends. From the beginning, I had friends at church. I had friends that were neighbors. My parents had friends from who know how long ago with kids my age. I had friends at the park. We had no shortage of interaction with other kids. Between the library, the park, the carousel, etc. We had plenty of interaction. Here's my definition of plenty: No, I was not spending 6-8 hours each day in the company of several hundred kids my age. That honestly would have been stressful. A positive aspect of being homeschooled was that I had interaction with people of all ages. Rather than being surrounded by kids in the same grade as me, I interacted with kids of all ages. I have grown up having normal conversations with adults. At this point in my life, I can have a perfectly good, enjoyable conversation with a seventy year old, a 40 year old, a 20 year old, a ten year old, or a 5 year old. No matter. I didn't end up being one of those teenagers that are "creeped out" by "old people". And I do know people like that. They all went to public school. Not sure if that's a coincidence. So I had good interaction with a wider range of people, in my opinion. I also made friends at summer camp during my teen years.Moving into University, I got up a great group of friends right away with no problem. People didn't view me as different or weird. Now I'm spending a gap year (between Freshman and Sophomore years) in Zimbabwe, of all places. I think my life of interaction with all kinds of people helped me to be comfortable moving to a strange place for 8 months. I can slip easily into another culture. It's great. And I have lots of friends from school that are away this year. People in Micronesia, south-east Asia, France, Spain, Honduras, Chad, Malawi. Yep, I have plenty of friends.

Physics Amusement Park Ride Help Please!?

The figure shows a photo of a swing ride at an amusement park. The structure consists of a horizontal, rotating, circular platform of diameter D from which seats of mass m are suspended at the end of massless chains of length d. When the system rotates at constant speed, the chains swing outward and make an angle θ with the vertical. Consider such a ride with the following parameters: D = 7.50 m, d = 2.50 m, m = 10.8 kg, and θ = 29.0°.
Figure not necessary, but is of a swing ride at an amusement park.

(a) What is the speed of each seat?
m/s

(b) Find the tension in the chain if a 40kg child is riding in the seat.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Carnival rides while pregnant?

Theres a reason they say pregnant women shouldnt go on those rides, the g forces can cause placental abruption.

There are several issues to consider when going to an amusement park while pregnant.

The first concern, and perhaps the most overlooked, is the risk of physical exhaustion and dehydration. If you go to an amusement park while pregnant, make sure to take it easy and keep full of lots of fluids.

There are certain rides you should avoid at an amusement park while pregnant. These typically are roller coasters and spinning rides, or rides with jerky movements. Many parks will actually prohibit a pregnant woman from riding such rides. Disney, Six Flags, Busch Gardens and even your local state fair all pose warning signs not to ride certain rides during pregnancy. The danger with these types of rides is that the rigorous activity on these rides creates additional jarring forces within the uterus that may lead to premature separation of the placenta from the wall of the uterus, which is called placental abruption.

During pregnancy may be the time to enjoy some of the less physically stressful features in a park, such as exhibits and shows

** edit** no you wouldnt feel it if the placenta was separated from the uterus, the only way you would know is when you went to the doctor, and they did an ultrasound, and gave you the bad news. just pray everything is okay.
