Is It A Good Idea To Open Up A Auto Body Shop

What is the total cost to open an auto body shop?

ok guys listen up you have disposal fees for used oil's and liquids you can call a company like (Safty clean) they also rent uniforms, frame machine is around $12,000 for a descent one and all hardware, air compressor is about 3,500 for a good onemost tools can be bought on time from snap-on or mac or anyplace like that and just pay a certain amount each month, your paints and clears and thinners should be bought in bulk to make it cheaper, and as far as your lift and welder go you wont need a 6,000lb lift your frame machine will do just fine and the welder guess again try 2 to 3 thousand for a descent mig at an guestimat i would say a probable start up would ru8n you at a bare minimum if you were just to get the doors open would be around 20,000 to 30,000 dollars it isnt cheap plus your building rental or lease and to have it rewired to handle your electric needs as for compressor and lighting would be pretty high alsoi would lean toward the 30,000 dollar mark for start up cast! good luck in your venture i hope it works for you p.s. i would look into auto repair cheaper to operate and tools are cheaper.

My car was broken into while at the auto body shop, should they be held responsible for belongings?

A waiver doesn't matter in the case of negligence. Your car was left in their care and they negligently left it unlocked in a open parking lot. However, you will probably need to take them to court to get restitution. Realistically, you should have gotten everything of value out of your car when you went to the shop and signed the waiver but hindsight is 20/20.

First, call the police and file a police report for the missing goods ASAP. They are stolen and you will need to police report to document what happened. Any pictures the insurance agent took of your car (he did before it was totaled) would be good to - that shows your belongings in the car at the body shop.

Tell your insurance agent what happened and that you expect restitution. Remind him that you sent your car to this shop on his recommendation. You might win a lawsuit, but it's much easier to push on the insurance company and have them push on the body shop themselves.

If the insurance company doesn't make it up to you (or regardless), submit a Better Business Bureau claim against the Body Shop, contact the customer service at the insurance company (not your agent) and report the body shop, and submit a BBB complaint against your insurance company.

As long as you have a decent insurance company, they will take the complaint against the body shop very seriously. If they don't make it up to you and either reimburse you or wrap the lost items into the money you get back / waive your deductable / etc, sue the body shop for the lost item as well as legal costs and fees.

Keep complaining and make sure the officer documents that the employee at the shop didn't lock your doors. If there was no damage to your doors or locks or a broken window, it was probably an employee who stole your stuff.

How can I open my own auto repair shop?

Get into an automotive repair training program at a community college, like at PCC, or LA Trade Tech. Take business classes, as that is very important, if you want to be able to open and stay in business.

LATTC Automotive http://www.lattc.edu/dept/TAUT/programs....

Get a job or volunteer internship (no pay) at one of the local auto repair shops. You might be sweeping floors, but you will get a chance to see how things work, and you need that if you want to have a chance at succeeding. I wouldn't tell them you're planning to open your own shop (that's years down the line anyway), but that you're learning to become a mechanic, or whatever specialty you're looking at.

An auto repair shop with a good reputation can be extremely lucrative. A friend owns a small shop on the Westside, foreign cars, many celeb clients, he's very fair, but makes a lot of money, and the repairmen are highly paid.

Good luck!

Do auto body shops use their own paint?

Or do they get the exact color for make and model?

Due to an accident, I had a new bumper put on and then painted. When I picked up the car, I noticed that the bumper is lighter than the rest of the car. My car is jet black, so it's very obvious.

When I mentioned this, the guy said that all auto body shops get the same black paint and that there is no specific color

Someone told me that the guy should have ordered specific paint, and that he didn't because he didn't want to spend the money. Is this true? By the way, my car is only two years old.

What is a creative name for an auto body repair shop?

We are opening a new shop and are wanting something cute and creative, maybe a play on words or something that rhymes. Some examples of others that we liked (but have already been used): An Auto Body Experience or The Car Clinic. Something other than just (Our name)'s Auto Body and Collision Repair. Any ideas?

My spouse is opening a auto repair shop with his friend. They want to me generate a contract for a partnership?

You can get a fill in the blank partnership agreement form that's compliant with your state at { http://www.legalformsbank.biz/partnershipagreement.asp } and you can learn more there too.
