Is It Bad To Eat Less Than 1 000 Calories A Day

Why is it bad to eat less than 2000 calories a day?

Depending on your age, height, physical activity, whether you are pregnant or nursing a baby, etc. less than 2000 calories may make it difficult for you to get the required nutrients necessary to maintain health, physical systems, and support growth and/or tissue repair. Children, teens, women who are pregnant or nursing, people who are doing a lot of exercise or manual labor, need to eat more than an older adult.

Also, the faster you lose weight, the more likey you are to put it back on.

Eating less than 1500 calories a day can also slow down your body's metabolic rate. It is a reaction that served our species well when food supplies were unreliable.

The best way to lose weight is slowly. The best method is to change habits over time resulting in more physical activity with sensible eating of nutritious foods. When your calories expended is higher than the calories consumed you will lose weight. If you eat too little you will not have the energy to exercise and will wind up thin and still flabby. THen when you cease depriving yourself (which always happens) your weight will increase again and, since your body has adopted a lower metabolic rate you will gain weight back quickly.

Eating less than 1000 calories per day?

i sometimes feel that the so called 'rule' of never going below 1000 calories per day is just a load of bunkum and your diet is proof of that, its a great, healthy body fat burner as it's nutrient dense but calorie sparse which allows you to exercise to keep your metabolism high + you have cut out all the crap junk that generally makes people look and feel lethargic so yes it is really ALL about the actual food intake and feeding the body with a balanced plan - people all over the Western world are overfed BUT under nourished ,if only they followed a diet like this - the word 'obesity' would not exist,congrats...

Does eating less than 1,000 calories a day bad?

Less than 1000 calories a day can lead to health problems. You can get some vitamins and minerals in tablet form (although food is always better), but dietary fiber and essential amino acids can only come from food. You should not be eating less than 1200 calories a day (the absolute minimum) to ensure you get a very basic amount of nutrients. Dietary fiber for example can reduce the chance of developing bowel cancer.

15lb in one month is still very achievable if you eat a minimum of 1500 calories, and do enough exercise. It would be far healthier though, if you were to aim for 15lb in 2 months.

The effect a very low calorie diet has on your metabolism is you become less energetic (even if you feel you have no problem exercising at the moment, it will catch up with you), you become more and more likely to skip exercises, you fidget less, you might take the elevator more often, you might not bother to get out of bed to switch the landing light off etc. Just lots of little ways in which people can become more and more lazy. If you lack certain vitamins you can only get from food, you can easily get colds/flu more often, which means more time in bed, less time exercising.

Also, roughly 10% of the calories in your food are used to digest the food itself. So if you cut out 500 calories from your diet, it would only equate to 450 calories worth of body weight being lost.

Is eating 1000 calories per day bad?

Ok, I use to eat between 2000-3000 calories per day. I'm 15, im a guy, my height is 5'7 and I weigh 180 pounds. I eat 6 small meals a day. Small meals to me is a granola bar or something that has less than 200 calories. And for dinner ill have a sandwich or something that is 500 calories or less. Through out the whole day i eat 1000-1300 calories. I've been on this diet for a week now, and I'm use to it already, like I won't get hungry anymore and when I eat between 1500-2000 calories ill consider my self a fat @$$ .i lift weights 3-4 times a week and ill run miles sometime. But most of the time ill lift weights. I do dumbbell exercises cause thats the onky weight equipment i have and everyday before school ill do 20-30 push ups to start my day. And my body is use this diet already. Like its adapting lol. Is this bad? And how much weight will I lose in a week? Or a month. Thanks!

I'm eating less than 1000 calories a day. Is that healthy?

Probably not.. unless you’re 80 pounds already. Google ‘calorie calculator’ and assume no activity to get something close to your “basal metabolic rate” which is the amount of calories you burn just laying down and breathing. I’m almost six feet tall and weight about 200 pounds. My basal metabolic rate is around 1700 calories. So, if it’s not healthy, you might be thinking that, temporarily, it’s healthier to lose weight with restricted calories; therefore the means justifies the end. Maybe. If you have a solid plan, managed by a health pro, and you can deal with the lack of calories.. chances are you’re winging it and hoping for the best (I assume so, because you’re a human and it’s how I do almost everything!)The problems with just doing extreme calorie restriction to lose weight is a few fold:It’s very hard to maintain healthy eating habits alone, much less with so few calories. One small snack of shit food, like a small bag of chips, and you’ve consumed 20% of your calories and have few vitamins to show for it. Good luck getting even a fourth of the suggested allowance of fiber, or anywhere near what your need for calcium, zinc, etc.Doing this for any length of time is a challenge your body is not up to… so it will respond by slowing your metabolism to conserve energy. In other words, if your basal metabolic rate is now 1200 calories, your body might bring this to 1100, or lower. The challenge this might have on your social life or sense of well being might not make it sustainable and failing over and over sucksMy advice? Shoot for 100–200 calories more than your basal metabolic rate (try this calculator: Calorie Calculator - Daily Caloric Needs)(Using this calculator says “extreme fat loss, 1720 calories a day” for me. So I would shoot for 1900–2000.)And.. AND.. and very important.. I would exercise 1 hour a day 6 days a week.Doing it this way has so many benefits I don’t know where to begin, the best thing though is building habits that control your weight forever. And eating more means getting more nutrition. When you hit your target weight, the exercise habits developed can increase, substantially in some instances, your metabolism, allowing you to eat even more and enjoy more occasional treats.

Healthy to eat less than 1000 calories a day???

No it isn't healthy. You need to eat a minimum of 1200 calories daily. In order to get in all the nutrients your muscles need, that is what you need to take in. So it might take you a touch longer to lose what little weight it seems you need to lose, but you will keep it off because you did it healthfully. If you eat less than 1200 your body will automatically go into starvation mode and save everything you take in as fat rather than burning it asap.

Not hungry eating less than 1000 calories a day?

Well - stay with those green vegetables - you can't do better. they're monster nutrition. And turns out that people who eat very little are more healthy overall. Of course you don't want to starve yourself to death. But go by how you're feeling

Add some beans, peas, lentils to that, and you've got quite a good diet. Cheap too.
