Is It Legal To Enter Sewage/sewer Systems

Is it illegal to go into the sewers or underground?

That's a good question...if there aren't any signs posted about DO NOT ENTER or w/e then I don't think it's illegal unless you are planning on defacing the property.

I'd look on your state law web site just to be sure.

I never got in trouble for it, went through our drainage ditches (just for rain water and stuff) everyday after school because it was a shortcut underneath the roads to get home.

Is it illegal to go down into sewer systems?

The ones that are usually at the end of each street that are for water drainage. I am NOT looking forward to going down into one, I just would like to know if it is illegal.

Is it legal to enter sewage/sewer systems?

If that wasn't clear, is it legal to enter the sewers below cities, the things that manholes cover (and "alligators are found"), or do you have to be part of a company of some sort, or do you need a permit or something?
I'm a writer shooting for accuracy. I've seen it often enough in shows, but then again, those people aren't exactly always the 'following the rules' type of people.

Is it illegal to go into sewer tunnels?

You mean storm drains don't you? Yes it would be classified as trespassing. As a kid some friends and I used to go exploring storm drains, once we got busted and cited for trespassing. Wasn't a big deal though.

What is the difference between a sewer line and a water line?

A "water line" usually refers to a pipe supplying pressurized water ready for use while a sewer line refers a pipe carrying water with human waste at atmospheric pressure. My understanding is that a further distinction is made between drain lines from sinks, showers, toilets and washing machines to the perimeter foundation of a house which are then referred to as sewer lines from the house perimeter to the street and under the street. Roof drains and patio drains are not permitted to enter the sewer system but must instead drain to the street and the storm drain system. Otherwise they will cause dilution and process problems at the waste treatment plant and may also flood it resulting in raw sewage reaching the nearest body of water such as river, lake or seashore.

Can you put vegetable oil down a drain to stop sewage odors?

So, almost everyday, raw sewage odors were emanating from my laundry room. I was smelling the odors badly inside of the washer compartment. I lived somewhere else that had this same problem, however, I was able to delute water and bleach and pour it into the drain. Right now, I m unable to do so because my washer and dryer sits right on top of the drain. Told this to my landlord, and oddly enough, she has informed the maintenance guys to put vegetable oil in the drain. Is this the proper thing to do? I have never heard of this method before. Vegetable oil sounds like it would cause additional problems. Am I right?

Can people go into the sewers?

Legally, are people allowed to open a manhole and go underground into the sewage system? I see on shows like Supernatural that they go down there all the time, are they legally allowed to do so?
