Is It Necessary To Have Body Hair

What is the purpose of body hair? Is it necessary and why is it different on everyone?

It has many uses. It lets you sense small insects (such as mosquitoes) before they stick you with their proboscis, it traps a layer of warm air close to your skin, and it is attractive (in certain spots) to females. There's more on the head to insulate the brain from cold.

It may be different on some people because their ancestors may have lived in hotter or colder climates - ever wonder why in movies about ancient Rome the Romans were clean-cut, while the barbarians were covered in a thick mat of fur?

EDIT: Sarah R, we shared a common ancestor with apes - we didn't evolve from them.

Is it necessary for women to shave their body hair on the bikini area? Does it make it less itchy "down there"?

As everyone else has said, it’s a personal preference- though it can be a nice aesthetic I think. How you treat your skin afterwards though is very important to prevent itchiness, ingrown hairs, and razor bumps [all basically the same thing]. Make sure to wear non-tight clothes as things like super tight underwear can actually prevent the hair from coming in straight and then you’re dealing with fun stuff like ingrown and you’ll never want to shave again.Personally, I use Penchant Bare which you can get on Amazon. You put it on dry skin right after you shave in the shower and it’ll protect from ingrowns and razor bumps which will end any of the sexiness of a shaved bikini area. I put it on a couple times a day until the hair starts fully growing back and poof, you’re good to go and can admire that fine work you did for days to come.

Is it necessary to shave for Muslim girls?

Appearantly everyone should shave in Islam.According to authentic hadith of the prophet (pbuh):Al-Bukhaari (5889) and Muslim (257) narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “The fitrah is five things – or five things are part of the fitrah – circumcision, shaving the pubes, cutting the nails, plucking the armpit hairs, and trimming the moustache. These things are mustahabb (recommended). The only thing I could find specifically for women is:Al-Bukhaari (5079) and Muslim (715) narrated that Jaabir ibn ‘Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were with the Messenger of Allah (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) on campaign, and when we approached Madinah, we wanted to enter the city straight away, but the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Delay it until we enter at night, so that the one who is dishevelled may tidy herself up and the one whose husband is absent may shave her pubic hair.”As always, Allah knows best.

Is it necessary for men to shave his chest?

No, it's not necessary. There are girls who like it. Me for instance :) my bf has lots of body hair! lol. (He'll kill me if he gets to know i said that on Y!A. lol) But i like it this way. So if your gf doesn't like it and you want to get rid of the hair then do so. But as the others said, don't shave. Wax.

Is shampooing necessary?

Hello April,Awesome question. In my opinion, there are a few reasons why you really don’t ‘need’ shampoo to cleanse your hair. Now, your question refers to ‘shampoo’ in the context of a verb, however, I will reference my answer to it as a noun.Basically, shampoo is really a liquid or a powder or a mousse used to cleanse your hair. The shampoos in our world today are way too harsh because of all the chemical and preservatives that they use to keep the ‘ingredients’ ‘shelf-stable’. The best shampoo is really one that is gentle on your hair and you can find this in sulfate free shampoos designed for that purpose. Then, on the other hand, you can make your own shampoo using natural ingredients and in as small or big amounts that you choose. So, to answer your question more pointedly - no you do not have to ‘shampoo’ your hair but you do need to cleanse it or keep it clean. You can do this using:natural ingredients [1] - indian powders [2] , plants, vegetables (yes)dry shampoos[3]sulfate free shampoos[4]plain waterAnd this is just an idea. Is it necessary to shave my vagina ?

The people trying to give you an anatomy lesson know what you mean and its common to refer to the genital area as the vagina even if its not medically correct language. It's become fashionable for some reason for girls to remove their pubic hair but not essential because women down the centuries have left it in place more often than not. Even a few decades ago completely removing pubic hair was a rare thing to do. You could always just trim it short if you don't like the idea of taking it away it completely.

Why, in Islam, is it necessary to cut pubic hair for women?

Body hair removal (pubes and armpit hair) applies to men and women both in Islam, with men having the extra onus of mustache trimming. Non-religious rationale is that the prophet did it, and the hairs allow unpleasant smells to accumulate, and general cleanliness is considered good in Islam writ large. While it is certainly possible with modern plumbing and Dial soap to keep hairy areas of our bodies clean, it is far easier to maintain cleanliness in non-hairy bodies. Outside of Islam, they say cleanliness is next to godliness. In Islam, a desert religion with historically difficult access to water, a hairless undercarriage makes sense.

What is the importance of hair on the body?

Hairs extend our sense of touch beyond the surface of the skin - we feel puffs of breeze, the slide of cloth, the presence of biting insects, close passes by hard objects. According to W.Montagna - “Evolution of Human Skin” (1985) - human hairs are exceptionally rich in follicular nerves - more like that of dedicated feeler hairs (whiskers) than “ordinary” hairs compared to related apes. Nerves in follicles detect movements and vibrations from hair shafts. They comprise “ the principle anatomical unit of cutaneous sensibility”. In ordinary language that means hairs are the main way the skin feels stuff. Small body hairs are exceptionally sensitive and allows detection of things that cannot be detected by direct skin contact, like small ticks and biting insects. It may be a more interesting question to ask how people who live their entire lives immersed in the sensations that body hairs provide could seriously suggest they serve no significant function; don’t their work?
