Is It Normal To Get Blurred Vision When Staring At A Phone Too Long

Vision a tad blurry after staring a phone screen?

A small part of our vision is due to our tears that sit on our eyes. When we blink, we replenish these tears.

When we play games on our phone or computers, we tend to get a little caught up in the moment and forget to blink properly. You may not notice, but your eyes will get dried out when you concentrate that hard on something!

Remember to blink. =)

Is it normal to have blurred vision after looking at a Magic Eye picture?

I recently stumbled upon some Magic Eye (or Stereogram) pictures for some blast-from-the-past type fun. I've always been able to see the 3-D images they create, but it has always left me with blurred vision for several minutes after looking at one. I'm wondering if this is normal. I've read articles explaining how Magic Eye can help REDUCE blurred vision, but I've never seen anything that says it can CAUSE it, even temporarily. I find the Magic Eye pictures interesting and I really enjoy them, but I am concerned that they may be doing more harm than good for my eyes. I am lucky to have perfect 20/20 vision and would hate to screw up what I've been blessed with just because I'm easily entertained by something that may be harmful. Does anyone have the same issues with these pictures or have any helpful info on them?

What does it mean when your vision is blurry like you just stared into a light bulb?

About 20 minutes ago my vision started giving me issues. Mainly in my left eye, it's like i stared at a light bulb. My vision is blurry and i have a spottyness to it. Is this something that i need to be concerned about?

Is it normal to have blurry vision at night?

You could be experiencing glare from the lights at night, which is a common problem for a lot of folks. The glare produces a "halo effect" which makes them seem brighter and blurrier because of the glare you're catching from them on the front and back side of your lenses.

If you wear glasses now, you may want to look into asking for an anti-reflective coating. Its a lens treament that usually must be put on when the lenses are surfaced and cannot be applied after the fact. There are some coatings that you can have applied after you've had your glasses a while, but my experience with those coatings is that they aren't very good. They scratch quite easily. There are 2 types that are very good IMO for durabiliy. The first one being Crizal or Crizal Alize by Essilor and ZEISS makes several excellent anti-reflective lenses. It greatly minimizes the glare AND they are incredibly durable against scratching. Some lesser coatings scratch VERY easily and after a while, they are so foggy and crazed that you can't see out of them.

So, next time you get your glasses updated, tell the doctor that you having problems with glare and they will hook you up. The anti-reflective lenses are also great for computer users since you get a great deal of glare from the screen. They will help with the eyestrain and the headaches from sitting in front of the computer for too long. Its still important to take frequent breaks, but the anti-reflective lenses help a great deal.

Good luck!

Is being able to blur your vision normal?

I dont mean crossing your eyes, and my eyes dont shake, and my pupils dont even change. To an outsider, my eyes look normal, and i even once recorded myself doing it and nothing happened. Basically, i can just look at something and go "i should make that blurry" and my eyes blur everything. Its kind of like when you look through your grandparents glasses, and you cant really see much through it. No zooming in or anything, literally its just a blur. Like the text i am typing right now becomes just colors, black and white. Is this normal? Can any of you do it? Most of my friends have said they cant, but one of my friends says she can, but unlike me, her eyes shake when she says it goes blurry. It took 13 years of my life to finally start questioning this without any answers, and years later i finally realize i can just ask the internet...
