Is It Ok To Start Stretching Your Ear At 10 G

Is it ok to start stretching your ear with a size 10g?

I started with 2g, which is the largest my reputable piercing establishment said is adviseable so starting with 10g is not a big deal. Whatever you do DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT use Vaseline, Neosporin, or any other type of ointment before or after you stretch, these petroleum based products will actually attract more bacteria leading to slower healing and or infection, all you need to do is rinse frequently daily with anti-septic which you can get anywhere in town that offers piercings, and rotate the earrings every now and then to relieve pressure and ensure your ears don't heal to the earring/plug itsself.
After having my virgin lobes hogged out to 2g right off the bat the pain took about 5 days to completely go away, after that stretch to the next size about every month to month and a half, but make sure your lobe is completely healed before going to the next size, you can go everyother size to stretch faster if your body can handle it, however slower stretches are better, and the only way you will get the "cat asshole" earlobes or "blowout" is inproper stretching, go to www.onetribe.nu and click on their ear stretching/care link, they have very good info, have fun!

Stretching ear 14g to 12g or 10g?

Ok so I've decided that I want to start stretching my ear a little bit (eventually the highest I want is probably 4g). Do not tell me that this is a bad decision or that i shouldn't do it. I've thought about it for a long time.

Anyways, right now I'm at 14g. Since they are very small, can i go to 10g or do I have to go to 12g first?
I heard you aren't supposed to skip, but the difference is only 0.4mm.

Stretching ear from a 18g to a 10g?

Well, because some ****** ******* tend to reply to these trying to warn you not to and be a mother or whatever, take it from someone who has 00s. I would've skipped 18g in general and just started at a 16 or 14. And yeah, if you think of it that way, these are super small sizes anyway. So yeah, start at 10gs. That's what I did. But go slow. If you gauge your ears too fast, it'll blowout and bleed. Be careful and go your own speed.

Ear stretching question 12g to 10g?

I stretched my ear from 14g to 12g. That just barely stung. Then after only 4 days (way too quick, i know you're supposed to wait like a month) I tried to put in a 10g just to see how far it would go without it stinging, and it slide in like butter. No pain at all, no stinging, no resistance, no blood rush or anything. I was really surprised... So I was wondering if it's ok to leave it at 10g?

Can I use acrylic plugs while stretching my ears?

Can you? Yes.Should you? Mixed answers. See this poll: Ear stretching question?I have used acrylic, glass and metal at various stages (I am currently at 1/2″). And have had mixed results. The real key is to ensure you wash everything VERY well (you can boil or autoclave glass and metal), keep things clean, and use oil or some other clean lubricant to help (examples Emu Oil or vitamin E oil).I would say overall, I have certainly had better results with metal or glass, as they are easier to clean and keep clean. The acrylic can have greater porosity, which will trap bacteria and make them more difficult to clean.I think when stretching your ears, especially if you want to go a fair ways up, your goal should be to do so with as little risk for damage or infection as possible. The more times you tear, blow out, or infect your ears, the more difficult each step will be.So take your time, spend the money, and do it right is probably the best approach.

Why does my stretched ear hurt? 10g to 8g swelling?

Hi :D, About three days ago i decided to stretch my ears from 10g to an 8g. It hurt like... REALLY BAD! I lost the other plug so i couldn't wear my plugs only my tapers. So everything was going good the right ear, perfect but the left was like gunking up a bit or bleeding and i thought it was normal cus my other ear did so too. But when i woke up today and cleaned my gauges my left ear was really though around the gauge and it hurt to touch, and it swelled a bit. As the right ear was pretty much good but was a bit though too. So i put on some A and D ointment on that and now it itches SO bad! What can i do to stop this pain and make my lobe the same again? P.S. I cant down gauge because it wont take in the plugs D:

Stretching from 14g to 10g?

Yes, put the 10g taper in.

A lot of people don't even bother with 12g - the normal first stretch is 18g to 14g (1mm to 1.6mm) so 14g to 12g (1.6mm to 2mm - a difference of less than half a millimetre) is smaller than that and lots of people consider it unecessary when the next size (10g, 2.4mm) is so close. 1mm to 1.6mm is 0.6mm of a difference, 1.6mm to 2.4mm is 0.8mm of a difference and after 8g (3mm) you start going up in 1mm increments anyway, so for that one size it doesn't really matter all that much.

I hope you've got plugs to put in after your tapers have been slid through. Because you shouldn't be wearing the tapers as jewellery... not only does it look stupid, it's bad for your ear lobe.

How can I keep plugs from falling out of my stretched earlobe piercings?

Thanks for the A2A. I don't have stretched ears myself, but I do know a decent amount about them. I have 21 piercings and being “alternative,” I've been around folx with stretched lobes. So take my advice, but remember that I'm not as expert as a piercer would be.It sounds like your lobes may have naturally stretched to a larger size. This can happen with weighty plugs, or your lobe can just stretch from taking your plugs in and out. It can even happen without fiddling by the lobe owner. You might want to try to go up a size and see if that fits more sungly. Just remember not to stretch your tunnel further than it wants to go. If the plug doesn't want to go in, don't force it it! You don't want to tear anything. If your ear hasn't stretched to a larger size, or at least, it hasn't stretch enough to fit the next size, you can try different jewellery. Smooth jewellery, like plastic, is more prone to slipping out. If you haven't already, try switching to a natural material, like wood or bone. Their texture helps the jewellery grip to the skin.Lastly, I assume you're using plugs that are flared or use O-rings, but if you're not, you should switch to this kind of jewellery. This is stretching 101, but there are piercers and pierce-ees who don't pass this info along. If you aren't wearing this kind of jewellery, switch. Plugs with O-rings are nice because the rings go on after you put the jewellery in. With flared plugs, you have to stretch your ear over the flared end. Check out this link: The different types of ear plugs and tunnelsIf you've tried all this and are still having trouble, contact your piercer. They should be more than happy to take a look. When you get a piercing by a licensed piercer, it's assumed you can go back to them for help. If you don't have a piercer, you can contact one near you. I recommend checking reviews online before calling. You may need to go into the shop to have your ears looked at. If you go in to be looked at, they probably won't charge you, but you should tip them at least $5 (more if they're working with you longer than 20 minutes).I hope this was helpful. Good luck!

I stretched my ear piercings from 12g to 10g. One ear became inflamed for over a week. I've backed it down to a 12g. could there be problems going back up once the inflammation has subsided?

It sounds like perhaps that side ended up over-stretched? Or, possibly the procedure was not handled hygienically? Before going up in size, it is important to wait until the tissue is ready to expand without causing any damage. Was an insertion taper used? Or did you just put in something larger? If the latter, tha could be a problem too. Also, how long did you wait (after piercing or previous stretching) before enlarging? All of these factors are critical for minimizing problems.Chances are you haven’t damaged the tissue enough to cause problems with future stretching, though.
