Is It Possible That Feed Conversion Ratio Be Less Than 1

Farming: What species have the highest feed-conversion rate?

FCR is a funny thing and is really (in my opinion) not the best indicator for determining livestock / produce efficiency as it is simply a measure of an animal’s efficiency in converting feed mass into increased body mass. Whilst not common nor (yet) socially acceptable in the western markets, Insects have one of the highest conversion ratios and further research based on the FAO research will be warranted if this direction interests you.Towards the more traditional products sets, Salmon is considered to have the highest FCR for any farmed livestock product at about 1.2 to 1. Common farm animal equivalents, by way of example, are:approximately 8 to 1 for most ruminants (i.e. sheep and cattle) around 3.5 to 1 for Pork2 to 1 for poultry, fowl and rabbitsWhat FCR does not taken into consideration is the quality, type or nutrient density of feed.It may very well be possible to get a 2 to 1 conversion for chickens - but not if you only feed them grass. In a free-range environment, however, they can access a range of plant material, insects, grubs and other material need for the omnivorous diet to achieve the conversion. A Bovine can, on the other hand, achieve the 8 to 1 ration on good pasture alone. So, yes, while FCR can provide a very good indicator of the efficiency of mass conversion - it is a tool I best use to assist in determining my breeding choices (e.g. FCR EBE values of Angus) rather than choosing between species.

Is it possible to convert a non turbo 2.0 impreza to a turbo?

it will be expensive... in the US it costs around $10,000 in parts and labor to do the conversion. your best bet is to find a wrecked turbo impreza and buy the whole car so you have all of the wiring and misc parts needed for the swap.

it might be cheaper and easier to just buy a turbo impreza in the first place

don't listen to others you say you can do this for a low cost. it takes a lot of money to perform the conversion. you can install a turbocharger on the existing motor and potentially save some money up front, but you will have much more potential reliability and driveability issues than a motor swap

Dried dill weed vs. fresh snipped dill -- conversion?

I'm making a recipe that calls for half a cup of fresh snipped dill weed. I can't find any fresh dill at the market, so I'll be using dried dill weed (jar of McCormick from the spice aisle.)

Trouble is, I don't know how much dried dill weed to use as a substitute for the fresh snipped. Obviously far less than half a cup, but how much will be enough? Any suggestions?

3 qt feed scoop??????

You have to weigh feed...no two are alike. Some pellets are more dense than others, and some grains are the same. Even hay must be weighed to have any idea of what you are feeding. Go to any feed supply store, fishing supply store, etc. and buy a scale with hooks on each end. Hang one hook , or hold it, and after pouring one of your scoops full of the feed into a bag with a handle, hang the bag on the other hook and weigh it. Then you will know the weight of one scoop of that feed....only that feed. Each feed mix has to be weighed separately.

Why does beef cost more than chicken?

Beef costs more to the consumer because it costs more to the producer, and there is slightly more of a demand for the product. Cows must have more room to roam and graize so there is some more expensive real estate. They also take much longer to grow and feed and therefore there is much lower turnover and a higher investment. If one cow dies that can be an expensive loss compared to the loss of a chicken. Chicken's can be mass produced and don't require much if any room to graize. A chicken has many chicks and often. They are often processed within a few weeks of hatching. There is also certain cuts of beef that are more desireable than others and are more expensive. Like the breast of the chicken is also more desireable and expensive. It is possible for the breast of a chicken to be more expensive than ground beef, but the premium cuts of beef like a filet are never as cheap as the breast.

If everyone was a vegan the planet would be destroyed?

Completely agree, and why I've always thought being a vegan was silly. We would have to grow such a wide variety of beans, nuts, fruits, and greens in order to get a healthy diet, and yes, that means destroying what is left untouched of the planet. Many nuts and fruits only grow in certain climates, so we would have to quadruple production from those places, and of course whatever grows solely in a cold climate would have to be multiplied as well. We have to do a lot to make sure those things don't get destroyed, and what happens when whether doesn't permit them to grow? We're screwed, is what happens.

All in all, something dies either way... Eat plants: something dies. Eat animals: something dies. I'll stick with balancing out the food chain the way it's always been.

Why don't people eat pigeons as compared to chicken? They are quite abundant, eat clean food and are sizeable enough.

Why don't people eat pigeons as compared to chicken? The assumption of this question isn't accurate.People do eat pigeons. In my hometown, Zhongshan, there's a famous dish called Roasted Infant Pigeon, 红烧乳鸽It looks like this:Photo resource: www.dianping.comThis Roasted Infant Pigeon is so important and famous that every formal dinner in Zhongshan must have this dish. Each Roasted Infant Pigeon costs 30~50 RMB. Usually two people share a Roasted Infant Pigeon and a formal Chinese dinner will have 8-10 people. Total cost= 30*(8/2)=120/7 =17.12$ However, the pigeons we use are not the same kind of pigeons as you could find on squares. The pigeons we use are a hybrid kind. They are bred for meals. Infant pigeons will be transformed into another form when they are 21-28 days old. Yeah, I didn't misspell.   21-28 days old.But really, Roasted Infant Pigeons taste amazingly delicious. A great treat for foodies. The meat tastes juicy. So soft. So smooth. Even the breast meat tastes unbelievably good! Way much better than chicken breast. And the skin tastes so crispy. When you actually have a tender bite on a piece of Roasted Infant Pigeon, you will immediately understand how come the local people in Zhongshan feel so proud of this dish. Therefore, the question should look like this:Why don't people eat pigeons as often as eating chicken?Answer:1. The pigeons on squares are, to some extent, wild animals. They are not bred by people for meals. Sometimes, they might have unexpected virus.2. Breeding pigeons for meals costs much more than breeding chicken. My family isn't in this industry, but as a local people in Zhongshan, I do know something about it.3. Because of the breeding costs, pigeons are more expensive than chicken. Even in Zhongshan, we only serve important guests with Roasted Infant Pigeons or buy an infant pigeon back home to make medicine soup if there is a special discount.Unfortunately, I don't think our lovely special infant pigeons have been exported to your local Asian supermarkets.XD
