Is It Possible To Upgrade My Laptop

Is it possible to upgrade a laptop motherboard?

It MAY be. It is likely that you won’t be able to… but there is a possibility.See… companies like Dell, HP, Lenovo, Toshiba… although their motherboards are designed to only fit into the cases they have made for them… there is no standard Form Factor for laptop motherboards… it is possible to find a BETTER model laptop than the one you have. For example, you could find a cheap Dell Inspiron with a dual core Pentium processor. The motherboard in that one won’t take a Core i7 processor, but you might be able to find a Dell Inspiron that was released at the same time and used the same body components… which would indicate that the motherboard inside was likely the same shape with the same screw mounts as the motherboard in the cheap inspiron with the Pentium. So you could, in fact, swap the motherboard with a “better” one.I’ve done sideways motherboard swaps… swapping out an Intel board in one unit with an AMD board from an almost identical model. I’ve done two upgrades like this as well… neither was intentional, since in both cases the original motherboard was unavailable. So can it be done? Yep. Will you have the choices people have when upgrading their desktops? Not by a long shot. You might not have any choices at all, depending on the make and model of your particular laptop.Oh. Feeling the urge to post a comment stating the make and model of your laptop, and asking me where you could get a better motherboard and processor combination? That’s a completely different (and new) question. I’m not partial to shopping questions. People can do their own Google searches for stuff… they never actually appreciate it when they get others to do their shopping for them.

Is it possible to upgrade my laptop?

I have an Acer Aspire 5560-7855

AMD Quad-Core Processor A6-3400M with TURBO CORE Technology up to 2.30GHz

AMD Radeon HD 6520G (Inter-grated GPU)

6GB DDR3 RAM

500 GB HDD

I am wondering if it is possible for me to install a new GPU (Maybe something comparable to; Radeon HD 7950M)

People have said I would need a new Motherboard because it's soldered into my laptops motherboard.

Is it possible to upgrade laptop's 15" 1080p screen to 4K?

pretty sure the smallest 4k screens are like 27". and 27" are actually a little on the too small side for 4k displays due to how smal all the icons and windows become (if EVERYTHING had good support for 4k monitors, and had good window scaling, it wouldnt be a big problem. but with the pixels being so small, many things are un-readable).

So at only 15", everything would just be unreadable at 4k.

Also you would definitly not be able to game at 4k on a laptop, just because no laptop gpu available is good enough for 4k (maybe if your laptop had sli GTX980Ms, and nothing less then that, probably have to actually overclock the 980Ms aswell)

http://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-GeFo... shows some benchmarks of sli 980ms. 4K is 4x as many pixels as 1080P. so if a game gets 80fps at 1920x1080, at 4k you would get like 20 fps.

Is it possible to upgrade the CPU on my laptop?

Unfortunately, you can not upgrade your CPU in you laptop, reason being is that the Intel Celeron B820 is a FCPGA socket type. The FCPGA socket type, means that your CPU is soldiered to your motherboard and can not be replaced.

There are two socket types on laptops that can be changed out for another CPU, the first one is the (rPGA) socket type, also known as the "G1" and "G2" socket. The second one is the (PPGA) socket type. It is pretty rare to find a laptop with these sockets, mainly because these two socket are found in high end gaming laptops and workstation laptops such as the Panasonic ToughBook.

Here is a link to the tech sheet to the Intel Celeron B820,
