Is It Safe To Switch Antibiotics The Same Or Even Next Day

Is it safe to switch antibiotics the same or even next day?

I was having an odd allergic reaction to Clyndamycin, I got these very very painful blisters in my mouth and on my tongue after 1 1/2 days of use. (approx 6 maybe 7 pills 300mg) I phoned my Dentist and he told me to go pick up a z-pac at the drug store. So I did. According to the slip I am to take 2 today, and one each following day from now on.....

Uhm. Although I took my last clyndo at 5:30am this morning, Is it going to be safe to take a new antibiotic 14 hours later?

Is it safe to switch antibiotics mid-course?

I have been on 500mg (2 every 12 hrs) of amoxicillin for an upper respiratory infection for 5 full days. I am still feeling pretty bad. I have a full unopened 10 day prescription for 500mg Cephalexin that is one year old. Should I switch to the cephalexin and see if it works since obviously the amoxicillin isn't? I haven't ever had an issue with an antibiotic not working before, and I rarely (once a year) have to take them. Thanks!

Switched antibiotics? Is this safe?

I have an abscess tooth that I was prescribed amoxicillin for until the root canal. Took the antibiotic for about four days but around the same time got bronchitis. The doctor prescribed me z pack for the bronchitis and told me to stop taking the amoxicillin, which I stopped since z pack is an antibiotic. The tooth pain has now come back and now I'm worried. Should I take both antibiotics?! Will this affect my root canal since I didn't continue with the amoxicillin? (My dentist is currently closed ugh!!!! So I can't ask yet!)

Can we take Urine culture while on antibiotics?

Ideally, any culture specimen (including urine) should be collected before first dose of antibiotics, coz chances of it being negative increases after initiation of antibiotics ( as such , a culture has sensitivity of only 30-40% under ideal conditions). So,yes, you can still collect urine culture sample, while on antibiotics, but chances of it being positive reduce dramatically. Moreover, your form should mention that culture has been collected while patient is on antibiotics, because the cut off for significant colony count on culture is taken lower (1000/ hpf),compared to 100000/hpf when not on antibiotics. So,result might be reported false negative if antibiotic details are missing while requesting a urine culture.

Antibiotics switched from Amoxicillin to Clindamycin for tooth abscess/infection?

I've been taking Amoxicillin 500mg 4x a day for 6, today marks the 6th, day now and pain has gone down dramatically but lots of swellling still as if swelling went up as pain went down. I called in this morning and brought up my concern with the swelling as the pressure causes me discomfort/ low pain. They call me back saying they're switching me to clindamycin (don't know dosage yet as I still have to pick it up when the script gets called in). I asked if it's "stronger" per-se and the person on the phone said yes, and that it should help more than the amoxicillin because it battles bacteria in a different way. Most of my swelling is between my gum and cheek.
Will Clindamycin do a better job seeing that Amoxicillin has done all it can for now?
