Is It Still Possible To Start My Own Country

Is it possible to start your own country?

"Register" is not the right word. It's more of a declaration. If you get yourself a piece of land, "starting" a country is as easy as writing a letter to the current government declaring your sovereignty. Of course, that's ridiculous; if you stop paying taxes and following the country's laws then you won't get very far. Owning an island does not give you sovereignty over it, and an existing, legitimate country would never just hand one over. Things like this have happened numerous times in history, never having good results.

The Montevideo Convention (which really isn't international law) says:
"The state as a person of international law should possess the following qualifications: (a) a permanent population; (b) a defined territory; (c) government; and (d) capacity to enter into relations with the other states."

So this means it will take more than you to create a country. Even the smallest country in the world (Vatican City) has more than 900 citizens. A defined territory means that you need land that no other country claims; land like that does not exist and no country will hand any over. You need a constitution, and laws which takes plenty of expertise in the subject. The last one means that other countries need to recognize your nation's sovereignty as a separate country from other states.

The de facto acceptance into the international world of "being a country" is being in the United Nations, which is as easy as writing a letter to the Secretary-General of the UN requesting membership. He would then bring the proposal to the General Assembly which consists of 192 countries, all with an equal vote. I guarantee you, you won't get a single vote... that is of course if the SG even opens your letter.

Your best bet is to find about 10,000 people and about $50 billion dollars and go build a platform in the Atlantic. Since this area is outside of the 200 nautical mile-wide economic zone of any existing country, you can claim it as a new country.

Is it possible to be deported from your own country?

no but people make mistakes

Laws~how to make,enforce, and reasonable.
Jobs~ how do I provide jobs and it's probably not alot to do on the land.
Land~ how do I find land for sale and it's really big like a big island and how to I claim my independence for the country holding it.
I don't need people who have negative to say.

Could Alaska be its own country, if it was possible?

As an Alaskan I feel that we get treated that way any way. Growing up you couldn't participate in contests becuase msot were geared for those ressiding in the continental US.
We also pay more to have stuff shipped to us. Personaly I'd rather we join Canada to get some of that health care.

But to answer the question yes, as it is seperated enough the state would shift into a country with trade with neighboring countries (US, Canada, Russia ect). We would sell oil and fish (our top commodities) to other countries and since the US would probably not want to leave us they would remain like other overseas bases (which Alaska is actually considered as currently in the US military).

Population dosn't seem much of a factor when you look at some of those really small countries out there. The diffrence is we'd have more land then people where smaller countries tend to be more people then land.
