What steps should I take to start playing lacrosse if I have never played before, and must be ready by spring as a senior in highschool?

Assuming you're starting your “training” right now, you have about 5/6 months before lacrosse season, so i'm going to give you a 6 month timeline, also assuming you practice at least 2–3 times per week in order to be prepared for a JV lacrosse team.Month 1: Buy stick, mouth guard, goggles and cleats. During the first month, you won't be using the mouthguard that much since you won't be in actual gameplay, but these are the only pieces of equipment you need. The first thing you do is learn how to cradle, which is a fundamental skill of the game. Next learning how to throw and catch with your dominant hand is obviously something you need to learn. If you look to be playing lacrosse past senior year, investing in a rebounder will be helpful especially if you are practicing without a partner. Ground balls are the last skill you should learn in month 1. These skills will need to be practiced all throughout your training.Month 2: This month concentrates on the skills of an attacker/ midfielder, the two most popular positions in the sport. You'll need to find a lacrosse net, or something close to it. You will learn how to shoot and how to aim, and different types of dodges. The dodges to learn are the face dodge, roll dodge, and split dodge. Practice these all while repeating what you learned in the first month.Month 3: This is the defensive month. Something like an agility ladder or even a field with lines would be great for footwork drills. I am a defender, so shuffling in an athletic stance, and guiding the player with the ball out of the 8 meter are things that you will need to do in game situations. Speaking on the field and communicating with your teammates about ball position and the person that you're marking is helpful to your teammates and the goalie.Month 4: Repeat month one, but learn it all again with your non-dominant hand. In order to play JV lacrosse, you have to be able to use both hands in a game, so throwing, catching, cradling, ground balls, dodging and shooting have to be learned all over again. Do all drills with both hands.Month 5: Repeat month 4. It takes longer to learn your non-dominant hand than your dominant so another month would be helpful to that. And now you're ready to play JV! You'll learn a lot more at practices and during games, but this is a great start in order to learn the basis of the game. Good luck:)))

Is it too Late to start playing lacrosse ?

I didnt pick up a lacrosse stick until 10th grade. It is never too late to start playing such a great game. It is a lot of fun. If you are really commited it is not too hard to pick up. Wallball, wallball, and more wallball is the key to getting better. Lacrosse is a game that you arent going to get overnight.
But if you work hard enough you will be good in no time. Wallball everyday for at least 30 minutes.

Is 9th grade too late to start lacrosse?

I really want to start lacrosse, but I'm not sure if I'm too old to start. I'm a girl 14, and going into 9th
grade the following school year.
I think my area has a traveling/non school lacrosse team i could join, cause I think I wouldn't be good enough for school lacrosse, but yeah.
I've played lacrosse once or twice in PE, and I'm not that bad at it, and I can run endurance so I kind of want to start it.
I do have the summer to practice and the school year before lacrosse season starts, so I could start practicing now if 9th grade isn't too late to start.

Thanks!
