Is It Wrong For A 16 Year Old To Wear A Rolex

Is it wrong for a 16 year old to wear a Rolex?

My mom just closed a very large business deal, which made her lots of money, in celebration, she bought me a Rolex. I really like it, but I was then told not to wear it too often, because strangers will notice it, and insult me. What do you think?

Is it wrong for a 16 year old girl to date a 24 year old guy?

It is absolutely wrong. And so is your friend's relationship.

Teenagers mature A LOT in one year, so even a 2-year age difference can mean a lot. The older person typically is able to control and persuade the younger person to do things they shouldn't be doing. If the age gap gets over 2 years for teenagers, it starts getting close to being morally "wrong." A 24-year-old should NOT be dating a 16-year-old. Completely unacceptable.

Large age gaps have issues. The first is basis of relationship. Do they actually have anything in common, or is it just based on physical attraction? Hey, if I was 30 and could date a hot 20-year-old, I'd do it in a heartbeat. It might not last long, but I'd enjoy it while it did. The other issue is a difference in stages of life. A 16-year-old should be doing her homework. A 24-year-old should be starting out his career and starting to look to create a family. What could these two people possibly have in common?

Besides, why can't these guys get women their own age? Why do they want to date a teenager? Just sounds fishy to me...

As a 27-year old man, which Rolex should I be eyeing to buy?

Looking at your question, I suppose this would be your first Rolex or even “good” watch. Your choice should definitely go to the most versatile option available. From my perspective, I would be considering two options depending on your lifestyle. The dressier option. I would go by the Rolex Datejust 41 126334. This watch embodies all what makes Rolex… Rolex! You’ll have the movement 3235 running at -2 / +2 seconds per day, the Oyster bracelet, a date window with the cyclop and a gorgeous blue dial. While this is a dressier watch, it still has this sporty look making it versatile and that you will be able to wear on any occasion. The dial plays very nicely with the light, so does the case made of 904L steel, you’ll find yourself looking at your watch for no reason! The sportier option. The Rolex GMT 116710BLNR nicknamed “The Batman”. The GMT is a Rolex icon and I would recommend this version that is really appreciated amongst the watch community. The Submariner was my first Rolex but I would rather recommend you a GMT as you will still have a watch with a high water resistance while adding a new complication with the GMT. Also the date is a great plus versus my own Sub. That being said I don’t regret my purchase as I was also very attached to the icon status of the Submariner and all it ment.As for the Datejust, you get a very Rolexy watch with that GMT, you can’t regret that purchase! To give you an example, I have brainwashed my dad that wasn’t neither into watches over 100$ nor Rolexes and he ended up getting this watch and is very pleased since. I even try to borrow it every time I can! Those are some classical options and you can’t go wrong with them, knowing a little more context I might have proposed something else.Enjoy them and be sure to post a wristshot!

Should a 14 year old wear nice watches?

Unless said 14-year-old is unusually sedentary and precocious, the likely answer is "no," although that depends on your definition of a "nice" watch.  I have encountered 14-year-olds with Rolexes before, but it's never given me a high opinion of their parents' judgment or of the kids themselves, who tended to flaunt them.   At age 14 a kid is unlikely to appreciate the value that comes with a nice watch and also is likely to have poor judgment about said watch, doubly so if they haven't previously worn a wristwatch.  I wouldn't trust any 14-year-old's judgment enough to give them a timepiece worth thousands of dollars to just carry around.  They're likely to lose it, damage it, or have it get stolen.  They also are unlikely to get any of the social cred that might come from carrying a nice watch, or if they do it might be negative unless it's in a situation like a formal family gathering with people who might notice. Finally - and I freely admit this is only my personal opinion and not any objective argument - doing something like that is sending the wrong message about wealth.  A nice wristwatch should be bought with one's own money after the long deliberation and careful choice that comes with a multi-thousand dollar purchase.  Giving someone an absurdly luxurious item at a young age devalues the experience, and moreover teaches them to careless about expensive items because they become the baseline.  Watch forums will often tell you that even if people have the means to afford a nice watch, the best watch for a 14-year-old is going to be a G-shock, Timex, or other watch that is durable, rugged, inexpensive and functional.  Once the kid has some idea of how to wear a watch naturally and has the higher level of maturity that comes with age, then I'd say it could be time to wear a nicer wristwatch on a daily basis.

Why do so many people hate Rolex and those who wear them?

Let’s look at the facts. 99% of people that are hating Rolex and those who wear them are jealous. Those are the same people that see a Rolex as a status symbol object but have not a single clue of what the actual product is.Those people are haters. What is there to hate about Rolex seriously? The fact that Rolex pioneered the first ever watch case with screw down crown, bezel, and caseback that offered water resistance and dust protection? Or the fact that they were the first brand to release a watch waterproof to 100m with the Submariner?Maybe it is the fact that Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, well known for their first ascent of Mount Everest, were equipped with a Rolex watch? Or is it because the first watch to be tested at the CERN, the world’s biggest particle physics laboratory was the Rolex Milgauss? Or because Rolex is the only brand to produce watches that are guaranteed for five years with an accuracy ranging from -2 sec / +2 sec per day?I KNOW! It’s because of Roger Federer! Yeah, he’s such a bad guy! And the Rolex Hans Wilsdorf foundation, financing culture and students that can’t afford university. Horrible stuff as well! Let’s all hate on Rolex!I could go on forever like that.Of course no one has the obligation to like Rolex. But there’s nothing that could justify a feeling as strong as hate towards a brand like Rolex. It all comes down to jealousy. Jealousy from the success of Rolex and people that are able to afford one. And unfortunately, that’s just human nature.

Is my rolex real or is it fake?

I do not think it is real, based on your description.

You can not tell much by the inscriptions. Only a misspelling (like "Polex", instead of "Rolex") is a dead giveaway. Often fake products have misspellings on the inscriptions.

Many fake S/S Rolex are stamped 18k. The same dies are used to make all the fake bracelets. Only the fake gold ones are plated.

69173 is not a serial number. That is a model number that refers to two tone (s/s and gold) watch.

Shake the watch from side to side. Do you feel the "weight" inside moving? Do you hear it scraping. You can not feel or hear the scraping on a real Rolex. I have seen many fake Rolex. They all make a scraping sound.

Wind up the watch fully (turn the crown about 50 times). Set the time, and leave the watch alone for about 30 hours. A real Rolex will keep time for nearly 40 hours. A fake will loose time in less than 15 hours.

When being worn, most fake Rolex gain or loose about 5 min a day. A real Rolex might gain or loose 15 seconds in a week.

Do people notice when you wear a Rolex?

I own a number of Rolex watches. I buy and sell them regularly. There are a few reasons that I am loyal to this brand:People do notice when you are wearing a Rolex, whether for good or for bad, they do notice. Colleague’s and peers always notice. Bankers notice. Clients notice. I teach 10 year old kids at church on Sunday. I heard them whispering and pointing at me one morning and asked what was going on. A few of the kids had spotted a President that I was wearing that morning. The following week I wore a $40K Hublot in 18K rose gold with diamonds and not one of them knew what it was or had ever heard of it. They saw it and they asked about it, but none were impressed. The following week I wore a stainless and 18K blue Submariner (I took an image of that watch since I’m wearing it today). They all noticed immediately. I’ve since sold the Hublot watch, made a $6,500 profit on it that I immediately spent on an additional Rolex and now I just wear Rolex. Not because of what the kids reactions were, I have just preferred the brand since I started wearing them in 1982. My wife and children all wear Rolex. They are excellent time pieces when serviced correctly. There are a lot of hacks that try to fix your Rolex. Find someone that is truly good and the watch will only need serviced about once a decade.Rolex is a marketing genius. They reduce the number of dealers and they constantly increase the price of their product making it harder for many people to purchase. It keeps their watches more rare, thereby keeping the prices of some of the pre-owned Rolex watches increasing also.Buy the right Rolex watches and they tend to appreciate in value. People thought I was crazy when I took money out of 6.5% CD’s and started buying used Rolex watches. The watches I purchased increased in value between 17% and 100% within a year. They continue to increase in value today. I recently paid $5,850 for a stainless Submariner. I used to buy those for $600 in the early 1980’s. I just sold a 1973 stainless GMT for $12,000 to a watch dealer. The watch would have been about $500 in the mid 1980’s.Do people notice when you wear a Rolex? Many do, and for good reason. It shows that you may know and appreciate quality and that you won’t waste money on lesser quality items.

If I buy a Rolex today and keep it in a perfect condition for 50 years, how much would it cost and would it be a wise investment?

I bought my first Rolex in 2010 at the price of $3,800 while it was retailing at $4,800 at the time. Today, in 2017, that same watch in totally unworn condition is worth around $11,000. We are talking of a compound annual growth rate of 16.40%. Do you know a lot of investment that are performing better? Crazy, right? Now, not all Rolex watches would perform this way. Here are some elements that you should consider to maximize the value of your investment and its returns.Buy a Professional model. Submariner, Daytona or GMT. No Explorer, no Datejust, no Milgauss. Stick to the classics.Buy steel. Forget those horrible diamonds, full gold watches or even worse, two-tones steel/gold watches. Those are watches where you can actually lose money.Keep it unworn. I mean it. The watch should sit in a safe and never see the light. If the watch has protection stickers, do not take them away. The watch must be full set. Keep literally everything, boxes, papers, bills, gifts, bags. E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G!That leads us to the main question. Would that 16.40% annual growth rate will continue over the years? I highly doubt it. You will hit a plateau. No one can tell how it will behave in the course of fifty years versus other type of investments.Would I do this myself? Very unlikely as well! I love watches too much to keep them unworn in a safe. Hell, I won’t even consider making any decision that would engage me for such a long period!Buy wisely, invest in things that you like and you might see the value of your collection growing over time but usually, collectors aren’t investors.See you in fifty years!

Would you ever wear a Rolex submariner with a suit and/or blazer?

Absolutely! As already mentioned, Rolex advertised their Submariner model with a suit, and furthermore, Sean Connery was also seen wearing the Submariner with a suit in the James Bond movie. The Submariner has grown so immensely popular partly because it has proven to be so immensely universal. It is made to be a rugged diver’s watch, able to withstand extreme pressure, but at the same time, today, the majority of people who wear a Submariner never even shower with their watch, not to mention dive with it.The Submariner really has a timeless design, and it has an impressive versality since it looks just as good with a diver’s suit as with jeans, or with a suit.In the Rolex advertisement for the Submariner, Rolex wrote “You’ll find it in the cockpits of most ocean racers as hard-driving skippers beat down to Bermuda, Hobart, and the Fastnet Rock. How come it’s seen so much where the wettest thing is a Dry Martin? Who knows. Maybe it’s because the black dial goes so well with a black tie. Ask her, maybe she knows. So, not only is the Submariner a great watch to wear with a suit, but it is also because the steel against the black goes very well with a suit. Here are the 33 most interesting facts about the Rolex Submariner.Hope you found our answer helpful!
