Is Jack Nicholson Retired From Acting

The better actor: Al Pacino or Jack NIcholson?

Those are three of the best, in my opinion, and it's tough to say one is better than the others, but DeNiro has always been my pick. Another great actor I would put in this group is Robert Duvall.

Has Jack Nicholson retired from acting?

There was speculation a few weeks ago about him suffering from memory loss and being forced to retire but then a week later Nicholson rebuffed the claims to say he is fine and hasn't retired: Here is a link to what he said: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/film/...

Did Jack Nicholson go to acting school?

Andrew Gutsch is incorrect. While many of Nicholson's generation did indeed attend the Actors Studio, Nicholson decamped New Jersey (where he was born) for California when he was 17. His training came from classes taught by actor Jeff Corey. http://www.biography.com/people/...

What happened to Jack Nicholson?

I don't think he is quitting, but he isn't doing as much movies as he use to, which really sucks because he's my favourite actor as well. I'm pretty sure I watched one of his video's somewhere on YouTube where it said he's only doing one movie a year, but he hasn't had a movie since 2010. Also before on his IMDb, it said that he would be on a movie called "Last Vegas" which comes out in 2012, but it's not there anymore so I guess he's not doing it. :(

By the way, he is on The Bucket List (2007) and How Do You Know (2010) which are newer than The Departed.

How was Jack Nicholson discovered?

Jack Nicholson initially started working under William Hanna, and Joseph Barbera the top animation makers, responsible for iconic cartoons like Tom and Jerry, Flintstones etc. He was offered the position of an animation artist, by them, however he declined as he wanted to be an actor. His first movie was a low budget feature in 1958 called The Cry Baby Killer, produced by the Master of B-Cinema, Roger Corman. In fact one could say, Roger Corman, was the one who discovered Jack Nicholson, the former cast him in many such movies like The Terror, The Raven, and the iconic cult horror flick, The Little Shop of Horrors, where Jack played a dental patient. However he seemed fated to be a B-Movie actor, not really breaking into the top league for a long time. Fortunately the counter culture movies, The Trip and later  the Head, for which he wrote the scripts, managed to bring him recognition.  And finally his big acting break, came in Easy Rider, though he was not the first choice for that role.  Rip Torn, was the initial choice for the role of the sleazy lawyer George Hanson, however it's said, that when he sat down with the movie's main stars Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper, the latter made some remarks about Rednecks down South.  Himself hailing from Texas, Rip Torn did not take those remarks too well, and a scuffle broke out between him and Hopper. With Rip Torn, pulling out of the movie, Dennis Hopper choose Jack Nicholson for that role, and the rest as they say is history.

What are Jack Nicholson's best movies?

I think these are Nicholson's top 5 performances, in order of their ranking:About Schmidt -- I think this is easily his best performance, a side of him and emotional vulnerability we've never fully seen before. The unraveling of this man's life, his sense of abject loss, and his search for some kind of meaning and redemption come to a simple and powerful little final image. Nicholson is great throughout, and that final scene has so much emotion that it's easy to get lost in it and cry along with the moment.Chinatown -- One of his most famous and easily among his best performances, there's often an understatement to the portrayal that really makes his explosive moments all the more affecting. A basically perfect performance in a near perfect film.As Good As It Gets -- His best comedic performance, every line just snaps perfectly for him, so that even his most cranky moments are full of heart and you can't help love the guy. This is one of the films in which I get a strong feeling Nicholson was having a great time and really personally loved the role, too.One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest -- His humor and sense of rebelliousness trapped in a prison of conformity doesn't fully disguise the uncontrollable rage and recklessness lurking below the surface, but in the end the film's points are made all the stronger by the fact that we come to realize even his worst behavior doesn't condone the oppressive and abusive system in which he's trapped.Five Easy Pieces -- Another role in which extremely calm understatement and patient reflection offset sudden eruptions of violent rage, and even in those quiet moments we can see the restlessness and coiled tension that pushes him to always move, always seek a way out, lest the spring unwind unexpectedly again and upset the delicate balance he pretends to want but which never satisfies him.
