Is My Outfit Too Revealing Is My Skirt Too Short

Why do some girls wear short or "revealing" clothes?

The answer depends on what you mean by "provocative." That's an extremely subjective assessment. If you're from a culture where women don't wear trousers and favor long, loose skirts, then fitted trousers might seem provocative. If you're from a culture where women cover themselves from collar on down, then any décolletage might be shocking. If you live on the beach in Southern California, then you're used to women roller-skating by in a bikini top and cut-off shorts.  Generally, women wear body-revealing clothing for one of three reasons: It's more comfortable than something less revealing, we enjoy displaying our body, or we're simply conforming to fashion trends. When it's 95 degrees out, I want to wear as little as possible. On the other hand, I sometimes wear something revealing in cold weather because I like the look of the body parts that are showing, and I like that other people like them. And sometimes I'm not thinking about whether others will enjoy seeing certain body parts, and instead I'm thinking "Midriff-baring shirts are trendy right now. I want people to see me as a fashionable person, so I will wear a midriff-bearing shirt." (Ah, the nineties!)  As you suggest in your question details, some people (particularly uncouth men) assume that women wear revealing clothing as an invitation. We certainly do that sometimes. But it's a bad idea to assume that's why a given woman is wearing a given outfit. Even if an outfit shows all the signs of being intentionally sexy, we might be wearing it to issue an invitiation to one specific person, not to you; if we don't own a trenchcoat, you see us in that outfit when we're on our way to the hottie we're interested in.

Is my skirt too short for a job interview?

I have a grey pinstriped skirt suit from Banana Republic that has a skirt that's 1 1/2 inches above the knee when I'm standing up. It fits me very well & doesn't look revealing, and I'm a pretty conservative dresser who never wears miniskirts. But I'm concerned that it will still be too short for a job interview. It doesn't show thigh when I'm sitting down. I'll be applying for low-level/entry-level clerical or retail work, & will be hitting some temp agencies.

I can buy the next larger size, which is knee-length but I'd be swimming in it. I'm short & very scrawny. I can't afford tailoring or another whole suit. I also need to go on interviews ASAP.

Comments? Advice? Keep the shorter skirt or get the longer one that's big on me?

Did you see Kyla Ebbert's really short skirt on the Today Show?

She was the college girl from San Diego who Southwest airlines said was dressed to revealing. She had the same outfit on the Today Show. Did you notice you could see right up her skirt when she sat down? I mean really...if you can see up her skirt on the Today Show, what kind of view do you think the passengers boarding the plane had? And for her lawyer to compare her to Paris Hilton?? She's trying to portray herself as a wholesome college age girl. Comparing her to a panty-less nitwit like Paris is just hilarious!!!

As a woman did you ever wear a physically revealing outfit or dress out? If so, how did people react?

While I wore revealing outfits in my early 20s and can’t remember people’s reactions because I’ve never paid attention to them because I never cared, there’s one story in particular that stands out to me.My boyfriend and I went to California for the first time about 5 years ago. We went in the morning to Malibu beaches and our hotel was in Beverly Hills. After the beach, I wore my beach cover up. My bikini was a black 2 piece and my cover up was an ivory crochet dress so you can see completely through to my bikini. Once we arrived in Beverly Hills and I got out of our car by the valet… people were staring and pointing at me and turning their heads so far to look at me. My boyfriend was like omg, I think people think you’re wearing a sheer dress and that’s your bra and underwear. It was uncomfortable in the moment because I am not the most comfortable with attention but I really didn’t care about people’s opinions or reactions. But I thought to myself, wow! If I were wearing something really revealing, that’s how people would react!

Is it normal that my boyfriend doesn’t let me wear short skirts?

There is a big difference between "doesn't want me to" or Doesn't let me".

If he is ASKING you to PLEASE not wear those things, then he is concerned about your appearance and how others might perceive you when you dress that way. (He doesn't want other guys looking up your skirts.)

If his is TELLING you to NOT wear those things, then he is manipulating you. Guys like this start out by telling their girl friends not to do small things. Like "don't wear that skirt, I don't like it". As time goes on, they add more things to the "don't do it" list until you have a father instead of a boyfriend. Guys like this will also do everything they can to keep you away from your friends. If you stay with them long enough, they will even keep you away from your family. They will make sure they have total control of every aspect of your life.

Anytime you start a sentence with "he doesn't let me", then you are in a bad relationship. Relationships must be a compromise and should never be one partner telling the other one things they can't do.

Why are the cheerleader's skirts so short?

Clearly freedom of movement! Being a guy I tried on various skirts to see what they are like. I soon discovered for best freedom of movement (super important for cheerleading) the skirt needs to be less than 12" long. Preferably 10-11" long.  (Yes shorter is better thus the invention of "Micro Mini Skirts").There really is no need to wear shorts under short skirts when less restrictive briefs or bikini bottoms (spankies) serve the purpose. Even regular panties will cover the goods so there is nothing to see or worry about but today's paranoia and/or insecurity has set in making it popular to go redundant wearing both skirt and shorts!Ok that is the practical side... there is the fashion side to consider... Short skirts simply look better in all cases on trim fit chicks. Worn with pantyhose the look is both beautiful and catches ones attention for the event at hand and that is what cheerleading is all about!Ha...even guys can rock short skirts and look better than wearing shorts... What length of skirts/shorts can be considered too short?

To answer the question there is no such thing as skirts/shorts too short! I believe that people should wear what makes them feel comfortable.I also am very aware of societal norms and in certain instances society may view cheeky shorts as being inappropriate. With societal norms in mind I try to not to be a rebel and conform a bit to the culture around me, but there are many places where cheeky shorts are appropriate.Europe:I have had the opportunity to travel to many places in Europe and can honestly say one can wear cheeky shorts and skirts without any problem. I have worn cheeky shorts in the Netherlands, Italy, England, Germany, Belgium and France and seen many others wearing skimpier outfits.USA:There are many places and times when one can wear cheeky shorts and skirts and fit right in. I have worn cheeky shorts in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Houston, Miami, San Antonio and Phoenix without any problems. Also during Mardi Gras (New Orleans), Memorial Day weekend ( Myrtle Beach) one can wear very revealing skirts and shorts and fit right it.Brazil:Brazil is a huge county and I have traveled to Fortaleza, São Paulo, Brasilia, and Rio and felt the most comfortable wearing revealing outfits. On the beach I normally wear my thong bikini and take my top off and look like the rest of the Brazilian women. I love very short micro dresses, therefore during the day I feel very comfortable wearing an extremely short dress with my cheeks peeking out of it with some nice stiller heels. I have walked all over Brasil and absolutely had no issues. I love to dance so at night I love to go to “baile funk” and dance to funk music. I usually wear very extremely short dresses, but the length does not matter. After dancing to funk my cheeks usually end up being exposed just like most of the women in the “baile funk”. Once again I never had any issue of someone groping me or calling me derogatory names. The moral of the story is that there is no such thing as too short. What you will find as you travel is that cultures are very different and what is unacceptable in one culture may be accepted in another.yes you're right I agree with you totally.

Is this outfit cute or trashy?

For one you are not fat at all. Gosh no wonder people develop eating disorders. You have a wonderful figure that most people are probably jealous of. I wish I had those gorgeous curves girl! I suffer from low self esteem so I know how tough and judgemental people can be. And the skirt is a pencil skirt almost to your knees. I have seen skirts a lot shorter than that. Trashy would be showing too much skin ot boobs hanging out or something. To me your outfit is not trashy just showing off your figure! Nothing wrong with that. No matter what u wear somebody will always have something bad to say. People can b cruel especially over the internet
