Is My Urinalysis Positive For Bilirubin

1+ Bilirubin in Urinalysis?

A one-time positive urine bilirubin is nothing to worry about. Several things can cause false positive readings for the test, including how concentrated your urine is, or the color of your urine. Did you have a serum bilirubin test? It can be indicative of liver disease, however this is probably not the case. My best advice is to have it checked again the next time you visit the doctor, and make sure you are plenty hydrated when you give the urine specimen. The positive protein should also not be a major concern, since this is common with females or with exercise, etc.

Bilirubin and protein in urine?

i also work in a doctor's office and frequently do urine dips. the ones that have came back with positive bilirubin i can't say that the doctor was really all that concerned and the ones that had positve protein were usually on people who had not yet eaten or barely had eaten that day and that was the reason for the protein in the urine. try not to worry until there's something to worry about. obviously you must be fine as the only reason you checked your urine to begin with was because you were bored. (i can't imagine being that bored at work that the only thing i could find to do was check my urine!)

Urinalysis Question!!??

Hi,
I had a urinalysis recently and there were a few things that came back outside the "normal range". What do these mean???

Protein neg
Glocose neg
ketones neg
bilirubin neg
Occult blood TRACE
esterase neg
urine urobilinogen .2

WBC - none
RBC - 0-4
Squam Epith - 1+
Mucus - none
Bacteria - rare
Amorphouse - occasional

and then at the end it says...
10,000-49,000 cfu/ml mixed gram positive growth, probably contaminants

Thanks!!!

What does it mean if you have 1+ bilirubin in urine?

Bilirubin is a bile pigment present in blood. Its presence in urine indicates jaundice either hepatic and post-hepatic (obstructive) jaundice. Presence of bilirubin and bile salts in urine indicates post-hepatic (obstructive) jaundice, whereas presence of only bilirubin in urine indicates hepatocellular (hepatic) jaundice. Go for liver function tests (LFT) for proper diagnosis. Consult a physician or gastroenterologist.

How to read my Urinalysis Test?

I just got my results from LabCorp, and won't be able to see my doctor not until next Tuesday.I'm not too positive on how to read a test, but this was my result:

Specific Gravity-------------1.029
pH-------------------------------Norma...
Urine Color-------------------Yellow
Appearance------------------Turbid Abnormal
WBC Esterase--------------Negative
Protien--------------------------Trace
Glucose-------------------------Negati...
Ketones-------------------------1+ Abnormal
Occult Blood------------------Negative
Bilirubin-------------------------Nega...
Urobilinogen, Semi-Qn----0.2
Nitrite, Urine------------------Negative

(The Ketone & Appearance was in bold)

What does it mean if you have blood, protein and bilirubin in the urine?

It means you need to discuss these results with the doctor that ordered your test. No one here knows what your exact levels are, therefore, they can not inform you correctly of anything other than scaring you. You may need other tests or your levels may not be abnormal enough to even worry about. Please call your doctor to discuss your results.

Urine Results? High Bilirubin?

Bilirubin is a break down product of red blood cells which the liver is responsible for breaking down and excreting. You may have gotten a false positive, you may have some liver dysfunction or there are a couple of other rare things that may cause this. If you have gotten over your UTI and you feel otherwise well I wouldn't worry too much. A blood test to check your liver function and full blood examination would definatively check for any problems. Ask your Dr. for a FBC and LFT if you're still worried.

What does bilirubin and ketones in urine mean?

Thanks for the request.Ketones in the urine is called ketonuria. What does it mean? Well, it’s seen in conditions in which the body makes excess ketones. It could indicate that the body’s using an alternative source of energy, which is probably caused by starvation. I doubt that’s the cause (I don’t know you, so I can be sure); it might be an indication of type 1 diabetes mellitus, though.Bilirubin in urine can be a indication of liver diseases. If you are concerned/ got these results and are concerned please talk to your health care provide. This wasn’t medical adviceI don’t know you or your specific case.

Urine dipstick gave a dark, vivid orange bilirubin result?

I need help interpreting my urine dipstick result--specifically in terms of bilirubin. With the strips I used, urine that has no bilirubin does not cause a color change at all on the dipstick; in other words it should remain a light cream color. A positive result is supposed to be a tan-ish color. My result was neither. Instead, I got a dark, vivid orange result. I've read elsewhere that any color change is abnormal, and that a color other than the typical positive result (tan) may indicate bile pigments other than bilirubin in the urine. Can anyone tell me what the significance of that would be? Or any other explanation of that color change?

If it matters, the only other abnormal result was trace amounts of protein. Specific gravity and pH were also high, but I know those vary with hydration status and type of food consumed. Urobilinogen, glucose, ketones, nitrite, leukocytes, and blood were all negative--so I know my kidneys are fine, I don't have a urinary tract infection, and I'm not diabetic.

Just to rule some things out: the color of my urine was normal, I have not consumed anything containing red or orange dye (only thing I've had in the last 3 days is chicken, plain pasta, and coffee), I'm not on any medications or vitamins, and I performed the test properly.

Thanks very much for any help!

Urine analysis :what does all this mean ?

One by one:
No nitrites: this is normal. Positive nitrites are a sign of infection
Leukocytes: slightly raised, this is abnormal & is a sign of inflammation in the kidneys or urinary tract
Urobilinogen: this is high - normal levels are <0.1mg/dl. This can be an indication of many factors such as loss of liver function, liver infection or poisoning
No glucose: this is normal. Glucose in the urine is an indication of diabetes
No bilirubin: this is normal, raised bilirubin is indicative of liver disfunction
No ketones: this is normal - ketones in the urine are found in diabetes or malnutrition
Specific gravity: 1.020-1.030 is normal
Blood: this is high and is an indication of damage to the kidneys or urinary tract
pH: this is acidic; acidic urine can be an indicator of fever, gout, or kidney stones, but is not precise
Protein: no protein is normal
White blood cells: more than 2 cells per hpf (high power field) is abnormal; this patient has high levels, indicating infection
Red blood cells: more than 4 cells/hpf is abnormal; this high finding confirms the earlier blood in urine dipstick result
Epithelial cells: normally a few are found in every sample, so this is normal
Crystals: no or few crystals is normal, more can indicate kidney stones
Casts: none is normal. Depending on the type of cast, their presence can indicate glomerulonephritis or pyelonephritis
Yeast: none is normal, present in Candida type infections
