Is Taking Someone To Court Over 200 Bucks Worth It

How can i legally obtaine some money someone owes me, like $100 if they havent paid me?

Small claims Court, is the most sensible option for you. That is, if they have that sort of thing there in new zealand.

Recovering small amounts of money is always hard because of the potential costs involved with dealing with collecting. Sometimes it's cheaper to let it go, and lesson learned.
Credit collectors here in the USA get as much as 50% of the take of they collect. It's really almost not worth the effort for such small amounts unless you can take them to whatever would be the equivalent of Small Claims in the USA.

The fees to file a Small Claims case in my area are $50.00 alone, and then you have to prove your case..

Someone owes me 200 dollars can i sue them?

I loaned this girl 200$ for rent money a while back after her ex broke into her house and stole her safe.

She is (I had though) a good mom with a job so I felt comfortable doing so. It has been a year trying to get that money back and numerous times of her telling me she is going to pay me back and then ditch me. (I.e. meet at walmart, I got to walmart never show)

After this last round she blew i said im going to sue her. Because I am tired of the disrespect, and I know its not a lot of money but this is not OK.

Can I sue for such a small amount in Pa?

Is it worth going to court for a 200 dollar speeding ticket?

In my experience - and this is only my experience and it's all in NJ - the legal system is just as corrupt as it can be when it comes to stuff like this. I've gone to court wearing a suit and tie, respectful, apologetic - I've presented a reasonable defense and had the book thrown at me - maximum fine plus court costs. The violations were pretty minor - speeding, rolling stop through a stop sign, etc.

On the other hand, I've gone into court for similar infractions with an attorney - who goes into the back room with the prosecutor and makes a deal for me to plead guilty to a lesser charge - they'll knock the clocked speed down a few MPH or let you plead guilty to "Careless Driving" which has no points against your license - that sort of thing.

With a lawyer, you have some bargaining power - without one you're treated like a piece of $hit.

I've been to court about six times in 30 years, and this is what I've seen. I see the same thing happen with all the cases before mine, while I was waiting.

I find it disgusting.

EDIT - Please don't misunderstand me. The cop is not disgusting - he is just doing his job. Nor is he lazy - he is paid for the day whether he shows up in court or not - but he can't get away without showing up unless he's doing something else more important.

You are not required to show up in court for the precise reason that you asked this question - you plead guilty, you pay the fine, the system gets their money. If you DO show up in court - well, the system is rigged against you. YOU don't know the law, YOU don't know what you can and cannot say in court, YOU do not have the experience or the connections, and THEY know it.

If you have a lawyer, well, your money still goes to feed the system - it's just a legal fee instead of a fine. The judge was once a lawyer, you know - the DA is a lawyer, the public defender is a lawyer - the system is rigged and you're the fall guy.

The only way out of this is to not speed.

Can I take my girlfriend to court?

My girlfriend on three years now has been using my credit card. Without my permission, but saying I had okayed it. So owes me 200 or more dollars. I told her if she doesn't pay me back that I would take her to court for it. I have the proof that she took money from my credit card, because I was at work when these purchases were made.
Her parents told me that because I use whatever she has bought with my credit card, that I cant take her to court. Is this true?
Isn't it illegal any way to take someone else credit cars that is not yours and use it? Right there can't I take her to court, for using my credit card that does not have her name on it?
Please help me. I know she's my girlfriend, but she hasn't stopped taking money from me.
Thanks

Who thinks $200 per month is good enough Child Support for two kids?

Yes I work. Technically 3 jobs, two small part time from home and one full time secular. Things have been rough. I asked him to split the cost of our child's 4th grade fieldtrip and he wouldn't even do that. He told me to apply for a low income scholarship for our child. The school doesn't even have scholarships and there were already kids in the class who's families couldn't afford to let them go, the class sent home letters asking for assistance from the other parents. It sickened me that he actually suggested I do that instead of him donating $100 for his child to go on an overnight field trip. That's the kind of things I am dealing with. The last time I brought up child support he tried to tell me if I hadn't left him he would be able to support the kids but as it is he "can't support two household" endquote. Sorry I'm venting now!! Oops

If you owe a $200 doctor bill & dont pay it, will they take you to court?

First hand experience! NO THEY WONT

Story:

I had pneumonia at the tender age of 17 and 3/4 a couple of years ago. And I used to go to the pediatrician for checkups; long story short I went on my birthday and did everything like normal however a few weeks later I received a 270 bill from the doctor. Apparently since I turned 18 and I went on my birthday I should have gone to an adult doctor instead of a pediatrician and the insurance company wasn't going to pay. My brainiac of a father told me not to pay either so they sent it to collections. 3 years later; No court dates, just a blip on my credit that I have to resolve.

So you need not worry.

My ex still owes me over 200 bucks...What should I do?

You can start sending his mail back to the senders stating that he no longer lives there. I would also suggest going to your local post office and see if they will change his address.

For the $200 if you have proof that he owes you the money then sue him in small claims court but if you don't I'd say let it go...
