Is 1,228 calories too little to eat in a day?

it depends on if you are working out or not, if you are doing any type of physical activity you should eat between 1500 and 1700 a day. If you are just dieting that will not work as well, you need to incorporate some type of exercise or activity in to be successful in losing weight. Honestly, you should probably on lose 5 pounds, right now you are at the perfect weight for your height

I eat alot but poop very little?

No it is not. You are not eating the proper foods and you are constipated. Chances are you are eating too much dairy, protein and processed foods. Include more raw veggies and fruit in your diet and drink plenty of water.

Ignore William. Any DOCTOR will tell you that you should have a bowel movement at least once a day. It is not healthy for it to stay in there. I doubt his mom is a nurse. I'm sure any nurse would tell you the same. Yeah everyone is different but when it comes to this we are not different.

How do I know if I eat too little to build muscles? Can I know this without counting calories?

Counting calories is something that everyone will benefit from.Regardless if you want to build muscle, lose weight or just want to eat healthy and maintain your body weight.Counting calories and having better understanding of macros (protein, carbs and fat) is something that if you learn and get used to understanding will get you a lot of better insight to what food really is.Back in the days I used to joke that I don’t see food — I see numbers; calories, protein, carbs, fat etc. I used, and still do, judge the food not by taste but by what it offers to my body.But I digress.In the very beginning of my training what I used to do is; I bought a scale. I used to weigh myself multiple times during the day and keep track of my weight and how it changes.One of the best ways is to just pay really close attention to your weight.Be careful though. Your weight will change depending on, say, you weighing yourself before and after you’ve eaten.There a multiple things that can make your weight seemingly change. (but this is not a real change in the weight)Dehydration.Eating food.Drinking water (or not drinking water).Going to the WC.Make sure you weigh yourself at the same time during each day. Having a routine is beneficial.For example — if you weigh yourself today after eating and you weight yourself tomorrow before eating there will be difference because of the food you’ve eaten — this will not mean you’ve gained or lost any real weight.Of course you can be losing weight and gaining muscle in which case there might be no real difference on the scale but this is not such a big concern at this point.Stay Positive!Miro

What are the negative side effects to eating too little?

Eeek... you are setting yourself up for diappointment. By eating only twice a day and so few calories, you are going to slow down your metabolism. If you plan to work out, eat at least 1800 calories a day to lose weight. Try and have a snack every 4 hours to keep your metabolism in gear. Eat lots of fruits, veggies and lean protein, with some whole grains in there too. Drink lots of water.

IMPORTANT: If you do not give your body enough calories to function, it will go into starvation mode and hold on to every calorie it can, causing you to feel tired and not lose weight. It's about eating smart, not eating less.

Yes, that's true. If you don't eat enough, your body freaks out, and will actually try to keep pounds on. It knows you aren't eating enough to support your level of activity, so it will slow your metabolism. This makes it so you can't lose weight - or if you do, you lose less than you might otherwise.

You also need to be eating the right types of foods to build muscle. Enough protein, for example.

You need to lose weight slowly to keep it off, anyway. And you need to eat enough each day, or you won't be able to lose weight in the first place. So listen to the software.

Give two reasons why people might get too little to eat even in a country with plenty of food.?

Not willing to avail themselves of social assistance. (Grew up in a poor family without that myself; skinny as a rail. :D)

Do not know how to raise animals or grow food, do not have access to a place that sells animals or a friend to give them one. So again, we come back to socialization problems.

Does eating too little cause stomach pains?

You must eat properly or you will simply drop dead. You are a tall man at least drink full milk that will settle your stomach. Have a banana that will help. Make sure the water you are drinking is good natural stuff but you have to eat properly**
