Are reality shows like "The Apprentice" edited to make the participants seem overconfident, mean or lacking in common sense?

Not without moments of truth, perhaps, but could be anything between that and fabricated completely. I'll let Charlie Brooker explain...

On the show "The Apprentice" did Trump do the actual firing?

LOL IT WAS A SHOW! no employees, just contestants. Trump said “you're fired” and the focvus was on the loser, where other game show hosts would look at the winner and tell them they made the next round.Trump style is to draw attention to the negative… a common attribute of his demographic base and the media. People love to ignore achievement and focus on negatives, which is why we must tell parents and potential leaders to emphasize the positive… the placing of emphasis on positive attributes is contrary to normal begavior., and so, must be taught.Trump understands this, so his show gave the people what they normally default to… YOURE FIRED! YOU’RE A FAILURE! YOULL NEVER ASCHIEVE ANYTHING! LOOK AT THISE CLOTHES, THOSE HIGH HEELS, THOSE…what ever can be dissed and be made the subject of derogatory remarks (without crossing so imaginary line called “bad taste”) so as to belittle others. Its a favorite tactic with QUORA trolls, assert negatives, cross the line, because subconsciously the negative will stick and shape long term attitudes.Trump didn't fire, he just told them they lost and made being a loser the punchline.

How did his appearance on the Apprentice help Donald Trump?

I would call it much more than an appearance. He was the star of the show.It helped him in many ways, including the money he made from the show. Estimates are that he made around $200 million from his years on The Apprentice.Greater name recognition also helped him tremendously in his run for president. His time on TA also helped him sell more of his branded products and increased the value of his brand.I think is is safe to say that if Donald Trump had never done The Apprentice, he would not be president now. With TA, he reached the target audience that he would later need for political support. He caught lightning in a bottle with The Apprentice.

Why doesn't India have reality shows like The Apprentice, instead of the Bigg Boss and Splitsvilla types?

Apprentice is U.S (TV series ) related to business. ( those who don’t know)We can’t compare Apprentice and bigg boss ,splitsvilla . It all depends upon us , there are many business related channels they have many shows going on .. we never follow it ….And one wil look for profit ..if Indians are giving more profit with Bigg Boss , Splitsvilla why they will not do it ..Bigg Boss and Splitsvilla are also not bad as per my opinion .. they have their own +ve points ..we can’t judge them ..even U.S. have Big Brother and Bigg Boss has come from there only.

What does this mean? "Hi. All BBC Apprentices and Trainees are employed as BBC staff and therefore you must have a right to work, unrestricted within the EU."?

I would read this as… Hi. All, potentially unpaid people (apprentices and trainees) doing stuff for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). You are considered employees (staff) (of BBC) and therefore must have the paperwork to prove you have an unrestricted right to work within the European Union.

How staged are reality shows such as Big Brother, The Apprentice, etc.?

If you watch the show UnREAL on Lifetime… you will see. They are PRODUCED. If you were on a show, they would CAST you as a certain type based on how your interviews had gone. That information is used to help move the storyline forward. If your “character” steps away from a follow through line.. you might see yourself booted.. or “repurposed”. UnREAL is created by a woman who used to work on The Bachelor. Her REAL story inspired the fictional series. But it is pretty damn close (except of course the Telenovela murderous way some of the characters become)..
