Carmen Winstead/Jessica Smith Ghost Story These stories are classic Internet "urban legends." They started on MySpace from three teenage girls trying to see how many friends they could get from it. There is NO news report from any reliable news agency that records any story similar to the Carmen Winstead / Jessica Smith hoaxes. According to the story, Carmen/Jessica was accidentally killed when her "friends" pushed her down a sewer. Now she will visit a horrible death upon anybody who doesn't post her story on their MySpace page. Later versions of this story were sent as more conventional e-mail chain letters. There's also a nearly identical version with a victim named Jessica Smith. The story appears in emails and text similar to this..... Carmen (Jessica) and the rest of her class were on a fire drill and 5 girls trying to embarrass Carmen pushed her down a sewer when she didnt come up they called the police and the girls said she fell the police belived them. FACT:two months later a boy got the text of Carmen and didnt send it later tht nite the boy went to the bathroom and heard laughter and out of fear he ran into his room grabbed his cell to send the txt later tht nite his mom wuz awakened by a loud noise two months later they found the boy in a near by sewer eye balls gone skin peeled off and mouth gaping open. People believe unsubstantiated stories like this, for the same reason they are drawn to murder scenes, listen to ghost stories, and watch gory movies.

No, No and NO. Ok. Possibly on the first one. I've never heard of thsi carmen Winstead, but what you have here has all the earmarks of an urban legend. I hate chain letters and occasionally send mean letters to people who send them to me repeatedly. I've never forwarded one like they tell you to (Occasionally I know someone who might enjoy the text in one so I'll send that on and edit out the threat) I've never followed the rules on one. I've also never had exceptionally bad luck, been killed, been hospitalized except for a routine birth. It's crap. Do you really think an electronic mail has the power over life or death? Really? Do you envision someone sacrificing a chicken over a keyboard and cursing all the people who don't read their e-mail? Really? Sometimes people who make these stupid things will take a real event and add it to the standard (Send this to ten people before midnight or you will die!) format. But it's junk. Don't loose any sleep. I also assure you that you won't win the lottery because you returned a chain letter, you won't miss out on your winnings from the British sweepstakes that you never signed up for. Bill Gates will not give you 150.00 if you let him track your e-mail and no vengeful spirit will ever haunt you into the grave if you hit the delete button on this junk. And for good measure, no one is going to give you 50 million dollars in diamond for a five hundred dollar investment or access to your bank account. Never give your credit card number to anyone until you can see the fine print on their name tag and even then, be careful...

She Was Being Bullied By 5 Girls. After lunch, her teacher announced that the school was holding a fire drill. When the alarm sounded, Carmen and the other students filed out of the classroom and assembled in the yard outside. As the teachers read out the roll call, the gang of five girls decided that this was a great opportunity to embarrass Carmen in front of the whole school during the fire drill. They moved over to where Carmen was standing, near a sewer drain, and began crowding the poorgirl, getting in her face and nudging her towards the open manhole. They pushed her and she tripped over and fell head-first down the manhole. When they saw her falling, the girls started giggling and when Carmen’s name was called out, they shouted "She’s down in the sewer!" All of the other students began laughing. But when the teachers looked down the manhole and saw Carmen’s body lying at the bottom in the muck and the poop, the laughter abruptly stopped. Her head was twisted around

OMG! How can you even start to think this is true. Yes, its possible a girl fell into a sewer, but do you think that if this dead person was going around committing millions of murders from non-posting myspacers, that the only way to spread the word is through MYSPACE BULLITENS!! HELLO!!!! Dont you think it would be spread through television, radio, newspapers? no, because the only way apparently is through Myspace bullitens (which BTW, are apparently taken so seriously). I hate when people actually think that if they dont repost a bulliten, they will never fall in love, or wont live past midnight. Come on people, GROW UP!
