Is the Schwinn ranger Mountain Bike good?
24" wheels? Are you a kid? No offense - just asking. If you're 5' tall or more, the best thing to do is go see some real bike shops. They have bikes in both 26" wheels & 700C wheels to fit most everyone of any height. To get down to business - yes I have one of these bikes with the 26" wheels, not 24" wheels. I bought it used from a local bike shop. The ONLY reason I bought it, the bike had several upgrades over the years. The original rims (wheels) had been replaced with Weinmann 519 rims. The original rear derailleur had been replaced with a Shimano Altus. And the last time around, someone had dropped it off for a new bottom bracket - and never picked it up. The bike sat for 3 months. It became property of the bike shop. I bought it for $60. Even after that, I made some more improvements...a 30mm riser handlebar vs. the o.e. flat bar, a better saddle, etc. I just use it for a 2nd bike. It's nothing fancy. If you buy a new one, expect to sink some more $$$ into it for repairs in just a few years, if not less. If it's going to be your only bike, I'd look elsewhere.
Can I replace a kick stand on a Schwinn ranger mountain bike?
It had one with it, but it got stuck with the peddle, none of them would move so the kickstand busted off. Now I'm just curious how to if I can put a replacement kickstand on it?? It's my dad's bike, and he is pissed.
Is the Schwinn Ranger a good bike.?
Schwinn is among the few bike make you can get that is not as great as the originally were but are still very good bikes that can be found at department store and very old bike shops that have sold Schwinn's for decades, look over it to see if it was assembled right but if you buy it then adjust it to be sure. The first mountain bikes were made from old bicycles from department stores like my Sears Spaceliner in my yahoo answers avatar that were called Klunkers that use parts from lightweight racer bikes which mine was done by the previous owner. http://www.klunkerz.com/ It is a bike not a bike shaped object like some would lead you to believe because they spent too much for their bikes, how I know is because I have had experience with department store bikes all my life and have never had anything bad happen to me and my family with them. Like Public Enemy said "Don't believe the hype".

So what do you think of Walmart bikes? particular this bike by Shwinn http://www.walmart.com/ip/26-Schwinn-Sidewinder-Men-s-Mountain-Bike/21191091 . I would like to buy it and it has very good reviews but people say Walmart bikes suck. So what do you guys/gals think about it?
