Is There A Fee For An Sr22

How to you get rid of an SR22?

I have an SR-22 stuck on my insurance that was supposed to expire after 3 years, they only required it for 3 years. For some reason it is still on there and the insurance agent says it will stay on there forever unless you ask to get it removed. Is that true. If I have it removed will I get charged some sort of fee from the DMV.

If I remove it from the insurance will they issue an SR-26 or whatever it's called to the DMV still?

What is a SR-22?

an sr22 filing is proof of insurance. If you currently have insurance all you would need to do is call your current insurance Co. and have them "endorse" the sr22 onto your policy. Some companies however will not issue as sr22 filings if that is the case you will need to ensure your vehicle with a company that can file is the sr22 with the Department of Motor Vehicles on your behalf. In the sr22 means state responsibility form number 22, this means that the insurance company notifies the DMV that you are currently insured if the insurance cancels for any reason to DMV would be notified with a SR 26 form which would suspend your license. If that happens you will need to refile you sr22 and pay the reinstatement fees at the DMV. That is why you should make sure that you keep your insurance of today. Hope this helps

How do I get free SR22 insurance quotes?

In the United States, an SR-22 (sometimes referred to as a certificate of insurance or a financial responsibility filing) is a vehicle liability insurance document required by most state Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) offices for "high-risk" insurance policies. An SR-22 is an endorsement to a normal auto policy, and most people need it immediately. In Florida, it MUST be a specific copy, so you have to either wait to get it in the mail, OR go to your local agent to get it. Typically the SR-22 itself is only a $15 extra, but it usually raises your cost of insurance because you usually need it because the police found out, stopping you for another ticket, or because of an accident or the police were stopping everybody to check for insurance and now you have to PROVE to your state that you have the insurance mandated in your state. The reason that your insurance will cost more, though, other than the $15 flat fee, has nothing to do with the SR-22 and everything to do with that you do not have prior insurance. Just another good reason to keep your auto insurance paid up to date.

An SR-22 is not a type of insurance. It is a filing that your insurance company makes with the state. It is also referred to as a financial responsibility filing. This means that the insurance company agrees to notify the state if your liability insurance goes out of force so that the state can re-suspend your driver's license.

Rates for this type of coverage vary by company. Many do not charge any extra for the filing itself, but will charge extra for the event that caused the need for the filing (such as your DUI). In my state, there is no surcharge for just being charged; the surcharge comes once you have been convicted of the charge.
