Is There A Law In Minneapolis Minnesota That States If A Renter Has Had Too Many Calls Of

Can I use a rental car to take driving test in Minnesota?

Hi John!

Yes, you can definitely use a rented vehicle for the road test, in Minnesota or any other state, doesn't really matter. Just make sure the car is rented out into your name and have the rental agreement with you when you show up at the DMV!

Good luck with the test!

Why are ferrets illegal in California and not in any of the other states?

Actually, ferrets are illegal in several other areas including Hawaii; Washington, DC; Dallas, Ft. Worth, Beaumont, and various other cities in TX; Bloomington and Burnsville, MN; Tulsa, OK; and Columbus, OH. London, York, and East York, Ontario, Canada and Puerto Rico as well.

Although ferrets aren't actually illegal in New York City or Minneapolis, MN, they are not welcomed and may be confiscated or ticketed. Similarly, although it's legal to own ferrets in South Carolina, it's not legal to sell them there, and the state is known to be pretty ferret-unfriendly.

Many military bases ban ferrets. It seems to be at the discretion of the base commander.

You can find out about your town by calling the local Wildlife Department or Fish and Game Department, the humane society, or local vets.

The majority of reason ferrets were banned include: 1.)Ferrets are seen as wild animals 2.)Ferrets pose a serious rabies danger although studies have indicated that it's very hard for a ferret to catch rabies. If one does, it dies very quickly. 3.)The idea that escaped pets will form feral packs and threaten livestock or native wildlife.

If you want more information on ferrets, especially the laws and regulations for your county and/or state, you can go to ferretcentral.org. Keep in mind that this site is ferret friendly so you may also want to talk with you local vet, Fish and Game authorities before purchasing!

Minnesota Renters Law, move-in time?

I live in Minneapolis, MN. If my lease officially begins on May 1st, is there a specific time I should get the keys to my new apartment? It is not outlined in the lease.

Thanks in advance

What is the crime rate in Minneapolis, MN?

Current but not lifelong resident of Minneapolis here... I moved to the Twin Cities metro with my spouse and toddler children in '98, and bought a house in Minneapolis proper (or as I like to call it, civilization) in 2002. I live just north of Minnehaha Falls in the Longfellow neighborhood - a waterfall so beautiful that Longfellow wrote Song of Hiawatha about it, even though he never actually saw it. :)I love Minneapolis. I will probably live here the rest of my life. As a skilled programmer, I could easily live in any city in the country - nay, the world. I like this one. My children, now adults, have grown up here and plan to stay here as well. Now, to the question... "Crime rate in Minneapolis" varies strongly by neighborhood. My neighborhood is about as safe as the "safe" suburbs - minor property crime is the main issue. We hardly even get graffiti. Parts of north Minneapolis, on the other hand, are as bad as the average major city. Denser, rental-heavy neighborhoods like Uptown and Dinkytown have middling crime levels, more muggings and sexual assaults and such. But in general, Minneapolis hasn't rotted out like so many big cities. It's truly a wonderful place to live - and I mean Minneapolis, not dull flat suburbs. We have a fantastic arts and theater scene, one of the hottest restaurant scenes in the country, and a vibrant economy. Bland crime statistics don't matter. What matters is that Minneapolis is a great place to live.

How long does it take to get evicted after not paying rent for an apartment?

There was a recent question where a tenant had not paid rent for two years, another where rent went unpaid for four months - and that is just until the landlord woke up to get the eviction started. Some landlords are more proactive and aggressive to evict, starting the steps toward eviction as soon as the rent is considered late. Here are some example of landlords delaying.Steve Babiak's answer to How do I do an eviction now that it has been over two years since I’ve seen the tenant or payment in Atlanta, GA?Steve Babiak's answer to Tenant called me jerk when I asked her to pay rent. She did not pay for 4 months now. I do not want her to be upset enough to damage my house, so what should I do?Steve Babiak's answer to Tenant lost his job and got no assests. How will I recover unpaid 3 month rent and legal fees? So, we can't give an accurate answer simply due to any delay by the landlord. Then there is the matter of the law in that jurisdiction. There are certain preliminary steps that are required by law, such as furnishing a "notice to quit", and those have some built in (by law or the lease) time periods before the eviction action can be filed with the courts. And then the court has to schedule the matter. And even if the landlord wins a judgment for possession, the tenant might still have an opportunity to appeal that decision and just might do so.Of course, there is a minimum timeline that you can calculate by looking at all of the timings involved and using the smallest - but even that can vary by jurisdiction. For example, an eviction in a big city could take weeks or even months to get on the court schedule, whereas in a smaller town it could happen in short order.

Lying on apartment application?

I was just wondering how in depth places check your apartment application.

I've looked at like 30 different apartments and I just got back from seeing by far the overall best. However they have weird income restrictions and we can't both be full time students for some tax credit reasons. Anyways we are both taking enough credits to be full time students, but my roommate only goes to school 3 days a week and has a full time job so maybe we can put her as part time student. And then you can't have more than $5,000 in cash assets, which we do, but we won't in like a month and a half after we pay for school and buy furniture and stuff.

Anyways I really want the place, so I'm going to fill out the application and hope for the best, but are there any penalties for filling it out besides the lost application fee?

-I live in Minnesota in Minneapolis if it matters.

How do you report Craigslist scams?

You can report to the website admin, but they will just suspend the scammer’s account. Your money is still gone. Craigslist as well as other ads listing websites is a home for scammers because of the wide variety of services offered there and the ridiculously low fees to post these ads. I have been scammed twice on craigslist and neither craigslist nor the authorities could do anything about it.I was lucky however, to meet a cyber specialist who helped me recover my money. All he did was collect the payment receipts and trace the payments. When he found what he was looking for, he petitioned their bank. Eventually, my money was returned to me. Financial institutions do not like courts. They will do anything to protect their reputation. This is a loophole that one can exploit if you know what to do. If you are a victim of a craigslist scam or any kind of scam, you should contact Brian Anfield immediately. He is also on Quora. Just type his name in the search field at the top of this page. Goodluck.

Why is it illegal to live in a basement?

It’s not specifically that it’s a basement, it’s the building codes, and it’s actually not illegal if the unit is old enough to be grandfathered under older building codes. That said, you’re probably going to have a hard time getting a Certificate Of Occupancy in most states, unless it meets current code. These tend not to transfer over to new owners. Most building codes these days require smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. They also tend to require two exits, and they tend to require a range hood that vents to the outside, if the cooktop or oven is a gas appliance. An easy test is if there is a separate mailbox; most jurisdictions require that.In some jurisdiction, such as a multiunit rental in San Francisco, you are required to have a hardwired fire alarm system that hooks up to the fire department, and a sprinkler system. You also can’t have a single exit to a hallway, instead of to the outside in a basement rental in San Francisco. You see these most commonly with Efficiency apartments, also called bachelor apartments; they are always small and feature a combined living and sleeping space. There is not a wall separating the kitchen from the living area, which is required by many fire codes. Usually, it’s a “kitchenette” in part of the living room. You also probably won’t have a washing machine unless it’s in a common area with the owner. If you’re not sure, ask for proof in the form of a copy of the Certificate Of Occupancy.
