Is There A Life Before Conception And Birth

Is there life before birth?

Is existence fundamentally causal? My experience of the external world would certainly seem to suggest so. I drop objects and they fall, reliably. This argument pervades old religious thinking patterns: how does a seed become a sprout? So, if all things are causal, what is the cause of my existence? If my existence is without cause, then the condition is always met and it should always occur. Why is one moment contiguous with the next? When we speak about causes in other contexts, everything is occurring in the experiential external world, whereas 'life' could be construed as the act of inhabiting an external world, or engaging in perception. If everything I can acquire knowledge about depends upon the existence of my perception of it (where the mind apprehends like any other sense), what reason do I have to reify the external world and only describe causation presuming its primacy?Should we scrape away the external world as prior to and above perceptual existence, since neither can demonstrably exist without the other, then we can see the conditions for a continuity of experience are causeless. If you existed in the past, you must have only existed for a finite quantity of time or now could not have been reached. There is no tenable description of a permanent personal existence for the infinite future. If you assert any sort of heaven or hell, I will assert they cannot serve their functions (pleasing or punishing) indefinitely without the experience numbing you to its aspects. So, heaven grows boring and hell grows comfortable. To continue the purpose of either, you must forget and start over. If you return to nonexistence ever, the conditions are equivalent to the established conditions prior to your existence in the first place. From equivalent conditions come equivalent results. Existence arises without cause, and the only way to establish existence is experience, then experience of existence arises without cause. Is it you? Well, why is there continuity between the moments you perceive currently? If existence is belched out without cause, why did it start at any given moment? Since causation is observed between moments in this existence, it does not seem reasonable to provide a discontinuity for causality at the end or the beginning. After that I fall back on something I want to be true: the fundamental impeller of existence is inextricable from action and morality.

Is there life before conception?

Yes, your parents life. You are here because there’s an enormous line going back thousands and then millions of years, an unbroken string of individuals who have successfully found a mate, had an offspring that survived and had offspring themselves.Isn’t that incredible?Your life stretches way way back into history. An unbroken line of lives that gave you yours.

When does human life begin, at conception or birth?

As a dedicated and baptized member of the unified worldwide CHRISTIAN congregation of JEHOVAH'S Witnesses I am only concerned with what God's infallible written Word the Bible reveals on this subject.

That being said, THE BIBLE reveals that as far as God Almighty (the Source of all life) is concerned, human life begins at CONCEPTION:

(EXHIBIT A)
~ Psalm 139:16 (Common English Bible):
"Your eyes saw my EMBRYO,
and on your scroll every day was written what was being formed for me,
before any one of them
had yet happened."

(EXHIBIT B)
~ Psalm 51:5 (New Living Translation):
"For I was born a sinner—
yes, from the moment my mother CONCEIVED me."

Therefore, as far as God Almighty is concerned, whether imperfect humans want to acknowledge the cold hard facts or not... ABORTION IS MURDER (the unlawful taking of human life) from the standpoint of the Creator. Period.

"For the thoughts of YOU people ARE NOT MY THOUGHTS, nor are MY ways YOUR ways,” is the utterance of Jehovah. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so MY ways are higher than YOUR ways, and MY thoughts than YOUR thoughts."
~Isaiah 55:8, 9

*** EDIT @ 'lilangel' who stated in part:
"A woman has the right over her own body..."

Correction, the Bible shows otherwise... and I quote:
~ 1 Corinthians 6:19 (New Living Translation):
"Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? YOU DO NOT BELONG TO YOURSELF, 20 FOR GOD BOUGHT YOU WITH A HIGH PRICE. So you must honor God WITH YOUR BODY."

Life After Death = Life Before Birth?

Our journey back to God is a long one. It is one where we
work to earn our right to re unite with our Creator. Our work
consists of recognizing that we are all a part of our Creator
and sharing our love with all men. How long will that take?

Between earth lives we analyze our past life to see how
we performed. Then with a panel of higher souls we write
a script for our next incarnation. what challenges do we need
to work on; how will we accomplish the tasks, who will be
the other actors in our script? We plan it out but allow variations.

A loving Creator gives us constant help and all the time we need.

If life begins at conception, should a persons age be counted from the day they were conceived and not the day they were born?

Life is not necessarily a human being. A fetus has to grow into a human being. As far as definition goes, once the baby is born, then it is an independent, living, human being. Until then, it is a life but not a human being with a birth date - no birth date - birthday - because it has not been birthed - born yet.

Does Jeremiah 1:5 imply that life begins before conception?

Such ignorance and misinterpretations derive from not reading St Thomas Aquinas, Summa Theologica.God is an eternal present. There is no past, nor future to God. He IS.He thought and knew everything before he commanded the Creation into existence. Our immortal souls are created as soon as there is a suitable body to be infused in.There is no such thing as reencarnation.Scientific proof of religion (God, the soul, Jesus, Catholic Church)
