Is There A Way To Allocate Certain Amounts Of Internet Speeds To My Internet Browser

How to allocate download/upload speeds to a certain user?

Not so much as the answers some people give. If there has been a question asked, that person is very obviously worried about something in their world, and they do need advice from answerers on here. I get a bit frustrated trying to think of a PROPER answer but there are some I cannot answer at all. The ones about " am I pregnant " is one of them, we arent a doctor and can only refer the asker to their G.P. Others are " am I pretty ".We cant see the person or know their personality. I do have difficulty answering some of the youngsters questions about boyfriends / girlfriends at school, but I am getting old now. If the kids are asking how to deal with their parents of siblings, I do my best but they dont always like what I say to them. A persons perception of beauty is personal... personality and nature is better.

What is relation between internet speed, download speed and browsing speed?

Using the internet involves sending and receiving data electronically in the form of bytes.1Byte = 8 bits. A bit(or binary) digit is the basic unit for computing and can store only one value(i.e. 0 or 1 / true or false). The lower case b always refers to bits and Upper Case B refers to Bytes. The prefixes k = kilo (10^3) and M= Mega (10^6) and G= Giga (10^9)The data rate is always mentioned in kbps(kilobits/sec) or Mbps or (Megabits/sec)while kBps (kiloByte /sec) = kbps / 8 OR MBps(MegaByte/sec) = Mbps/8Your (ISP)Internet provider’s speed consists of two parts - Download speed (receiving speed) and Upload speed (sending speed). Usually your ISP will advertise download speed since majority of the home user’s data exchange is primarily download (content consumption).Any data you receive from your ISP regardless of browsing, files, video streaming, viewing is considered as downloading data.A website usually contains (texts and images) which is much less data(few hundred kBs to a few MBs) to download compared to videos(>50MB) or large files. All of these are stores on servers across the world. Browsing speed i.e. browsing websites is usually fast since the server bandwidth(i.e. total data transfer rate for multiple users accessing the server) required is less.Downloading videos or large files by multiple users on the servers requires bandwidth restrictions so the server can allocate speeds to different users. This is why download speeds are usually lower on mass downloading sites. This is what you would typically call as download speed it is the minimum of the server speed and your ISP download speed.

How can I limit internet speed of certain devices connected to my wifi?

If you follow these steps i may help you out.Step 1Launch a Web browser on your computer and type the router's IP address into the address bar. Consult the router's instruction manual for details on its default IP address. Typically this address is "192.168.1.1."Step 2Enter the administrator username and password to access the router's control panel.Step 3Click the "Access Restrictions" link in the router's control panel menu.Step 4Check the "Enable" box to activate access restrictions settings.Step 5Enter the Media Access Controller address of each computer or device that is authorized to access the router's network. Consult the "Attached Devices" section in the router's control panel to find the MAC address of computers and devices that have previously connected to the router.Step 6Click the "Apply" button to save the restriction settings. Depending on your make and model of router, the device may reboot before reloading the control panel.Step 7Click the "Schedule" button in the control panel menu and check the boxes next to the days you want restrictions to be active. Enter restriction start and end times for each day if you wish.Step 8Click the "Apply" button again to save the restriction schedule settings.HOPE IT HELPS YOU OUT

Ipad using alot of my Wifi Internet speed!! Advice needed!?

Well whenever the Ipad isn't on everything runs smoothly, i can run the PS3, multiple phones and laptops at the same time with no issues, but as soon as someone uses the Ipad i cant even run 1 of the devices without SLOW speeds, i definitely know its the Ipad as ive just tested it while playing the PS3, it was running smoothly no lag, this on a game with dedicated servers then i switched the Ipad on and loaded up the internet and all of a sudden my game starts to lag, getting onto yahoo from my laptop has taken long enough, does anybody know if i can allocate a certain amount of my Internet speed to the Ipad so it doesnt use as much, or if there is any other solution to solve this without having to leave the Ipad off? Thanks :) Also should mention im on a 30mb Internet connection from Virgin Broadband.

Is there a way to slow down your internet speed temporarily?

I'm stuck with Verizon DSL which is OK when you're using it alone. However, my family of four are always on their Desktops, Laptops, and smaller devices (WiFi). I'm a very competitive online gamer who can no longer deal with laggy gameplay every single day. Basically, I need my family to also be effected by slow internet speeds so they will finally purchase something new. Is there any way I can cause my internet speed to come to a crawl so everyone else can suffer too?

How do I increase internet speed in a lan network?

Welcome to the real world my fellow Quoran. Even though it might sound crazy but we never get the speed that the connection is advertised for. Most of the internet service providers (ISP) advertise their speed in the unit of Megabits per second but the different speed test websites like Speedtest.net displays the speed in Megabytes per second. In order to convert Megabits per second to Megabytes per second you have to divide the speed advertised by your ISP by 8. So your 100 Mbps connection translates into 12.5 megabytes per second. You can confirm the same by contacting your ISP what is the unit they are advertising. However even then your case seems to be unlikely. Are your using a LAN network? if that is the case then the bandwidth is distributed into all of the users. So if there are total 10 users(connected devices: that can be a laptop, desktop or smartphone) in the network then you should expect your 12.5 megabytes per second speed to be divided again by 10 which translates into around 1 Megabytes per second (if all of the users are trying to access the internet equally).Again the speed depends on how your ISP assigns bandwidth to all the users. If they allocate bandwidth dynamically depending on the traffic, speed may get decreased for each user irrespective of the bandwidth they are paying for. But the bright side of this is that when traffic is less you will actually get higher speed than you are paying. If the bandwidth allocation is static from ISP end it should not change based on the traffic load from other users from same ISP.If all this things are in your favour and you still not getting the expected speed then you may want to check your hardware. If you are using a WiFi router then try switching to Ethernet if possible. If you are already on Ethernet cable and single user of the network, check if your cable is fast enough to support 100 Mbps. Same thing applies to WiFi router too. Try to upgrade the router. If you have multiple devices connected try switching to a dual band router.Last but not least if you are speaking about download speed from a particular website then try checking the download speed from some speed test website mentioned earlier. Download speed depends on both the bandwidth of the receiver and the host server. If the host server has smaller bandwidth then you should expect low download speed.

Why do internet providers need to control internet speeds?

Thank for the A2A, I would totally endorse the answer of Adam Moffett. But to add to it, as well as distributing the costs of the ISP amongst different customers there is another way of looking at this: tiered pricing.Functionality exactly as Adam describes, but there is another element which is that companies want to diversify their portfolio, they want to show that they have a range of options for customers even when practically they have one product. My mother doesn't want the same kind of package as I do, she doesn't perceive that she needs fast internet. Interestingly, I was talking to someone from the UK Communications regulator and he revealed to me that 3/4 if people offered superfast broadband upgrades weren't interested. Yes, if you give it to them by default they don't care, but there is an element of marketing and product positioning. When it costs the operator more to deliver faster speed then they have to start thinking about where to position their product. Are you going to be the same price as everyone else? cheaper? More expensive? What is your proposition, it's really important and not just about applying X% profit over cost.Yup, it's totally about what Adam said, but once you've decided to split your pricing you have to set the tiers and the values.

I tested my internet speed and i got up to 2mbps, but when i downloaded something it only got to 200kbps. help?

2 mbps is your download speed it bits per second, not bytes. The download speeds that you are seeing are in bytes per second. Since there are 8 bits in a byte you take 2 megabits per second (2,000 kilobits per second) over 8 to get 250 kilobytes per second of real download speeds. Now, 200 kilobytes per second is a little less that 250 but the isp usually rates their speeds as bursts and max speeds on a good day with no traffic. Other than getting another isp there is no way to increase this speed other than maybe switching web browsers.

How can I boost up Internet speed or hack internet speed?

Well, it’s not possible to hack Internet speeds (don’t believe everything you see on YouTube!).You can however, increase your security, privacy and connection. When you learn cybersecurity you become one of the people with vast amounts of knowledge (Knowledge = Power). So, let’s look at your question…You wish to speed up browsing speed on the internet. It is possible to do this for browsing and downloading data. Your ISP, has it’s own DNS Servers which all of it’s users are sent to when webpage requests are needed. But you are sharing those servers with millions of other users with the same ISP as yourself. So, in 2018 two very large corporations partnered together to bring in a huge difference to how you can browse the web. But by a simple, yet effective change your browsing speed is increased, download speeds are increased, you have more privacy and a secure connection. The companies that partnered together are CloudFlare and APNIC, both companies are huge. They seen a way of increasing speeds, browsing, security and privacy all in one simple change. All you do is change your ISP’s DNS Servers to 1.1.1.1Full instructions on how to do this can be found here:https://1.1.1.1
