Is There A Way To Cut Hair So It Gets A Little Wavy Or Curly

Does wavy hair get curlier when it's cut short?

Hair texture and color change as you get older, especially in the younger years. My daughter used to have ringlets, and now it's mostly straight, or will scrunch a little curly.
I don't think it will get curlier by cutting it since it was more of a childhood thing. So if you're using that hope to cut it, then you should rethink that idea. Sometimes the weight is what drags the curl down, but I don't think that's the case with yours.
I've actually cut hair shorter and it gets straighter.
What you could do is get a loose perm, and make sure the hairdresser knows you have natural curl in your hair, and what you really want. Wavy hair takes a good perm and it last longer because of the natural curl

How to spike curly/wavy hair?

i have really thick curly/wavy hair and i recently cut it short since i wanetd to spike it. i used american crew gel, but an hr or so after applying the gel, i lose the spiky/pointy look and my hair curls up, and it looks like a mess. anyone know what i should do? like should i straighten my hair, or get another brand of gel, and if so, what kind? also does blowdrying my hair after applying the gel help keep the hair from curling? thanx a lot

I have straight hair and i want to make it a little curly or wavy without it getting frizzy, how?

go get a perm done by a professional

How do you cut curly hair?

Never, ever before cut curly hair damp. If ur hair is actually curly, it could end up being numerous inches much shorter compared to you desired. clean it and air completely dry, after that reduced them. do not use a razor or shears however, since it can make the ends really frizzy as well as more prone to damage. in my point of view though, you must truly obtain it reduced by a professional. curly hair can be tricky. all the best!Cabelos Cacheados

I have thick, wavy/curly hair just above my chest area, if I cut it just under my chin, will it be curlier?

I have curly hair, and have had my hair down past my butt, above my chin, and everywhere in between. I’m also a haircut specialist which many curly haired clients. The honest truth is that it completely depends on the person and the hair. A common misconception is that curly hair will always get curlier if you cut it shorter, but that’s simply not always the case. Sometimes the curl pattern of the hair is tighter towards the bottom, but looser towards the top, so cutting the hair shorter will actually cut off some of the curl and make it appear straighter (not straight, but straighter than before). Sometimes cutting it shorter will remove the weight that was making it look straighter and the hair will bounce up and become curlier. It completely depends on the person and their hair, and unfortunately there’s no way to know for sure what will happen without cutting it and seeing. It is more common for hair to become curlier when cut shorter, but be aware that it doesn’t always work this way for everyone. As for frizz, cutting it shorter shouldn’t make it frizzier at all. Depending on how long it’s been since your last cut, and the general health of your hair, it can actually drastically reduce frizz by removing damaged hair (which is much more prone to frizzing than healthy hair). If you’re hair is healthy and you regularly get it trimmed, there shouldn’t be much difference at all in the amount of frizz.Keep in mind your hair will not be straight, it just might lose a bit of the curl pattern. It will simply be a bit more wavy, less curly, than before. But if you use the right products and styling tools, you can easily give your hair a curlier appearance. After you shower and wash your hair, use a curl enhancing product (my two favorites are Paul Mitchell Awapuhi HydroCream Whip and Aveda Curl Enhancer), then start taking chunks of your damp (not dripping wet) hair and twisting them with your fingers (make sure to twist them random ways, not all the same direction). Then use a diffuser on your blowdrier on high heat, low airflow. Flip your head over upside down to get maximum curl and volume. Dry to at least 75%, but no more than 90%. If you want more volume, make sure to dry the top sections of hair 90%, almost all the way, since anything less will add to the weight of the hair and will pull it down giving it a flatter appearance.

My hair used to be so curly now it's wavy/straight?

When I was little my hair used to have like all curly ringlets, and it was so long. My mom cut it when I was 6 and now it's wavy/straight. I'm 13 and have pretty long hair. I just miss my curls so much. It seems the only thing I can do with my hair is straighten it, it's pretty boring if you ask me. Is there any way I can get my curls back?

What is the best way to make straight hair curly (or wavy, at least) without a curling iron?

Anyone with stick straight hair that has tried to achieve curls will say… PRODUCT, PRODUCT, PRODUCT! But, there is another secret! Heat to cool, or wet to dry.Short styles that wish for a more polished look with curls may find that using a styling cream or gel and then rolling damp hair into rollers and allowing hair to dry completely – with or without heat – may produce just the right amount of curl and volume for their style. Someone with longer hair who may want a wilder, more natural looking curl could opt for applying a hair cream, foam, or gel into damp hair, drying completely with a hair dryer, and setting hair onto heated rollers. Make sure to set the rollers correctly to avoid kinks in the curl and to provide the curls with the right direction for the desired finished look. Then allow hair to cool completely. After removing the rollers, finger combing the curls into place will finish the look. A light hairspray to set the hair may be necessary for hair types that resist curl. One may also achieve this look using a curling iron or wand, but since the hair does not remain on the iron or wand until it cools, the curls may less likely to hold in more resistant hair. Those seeking a more permanent solution may opt for a chemical solution which, when placed on rolled hair by a professional, can give a semi-permanent or permanent wave or curl to straight hair. This process is only recommended to those seeking a permanent curl and wish to maintain this look every 8-12 weeks. This option is also not for those with skin sensitivities or delicate or damaged hair.

Has anyone cut their little girl’s thick, curly hair, thinking it would make life easier, only to discover that it created a huge, poufy, completely unmanageable mess?

Full disclosure: I don't have a little girl and I've never cut hair… but I used to BE that little girl with unmanageable, frizzy hair. What I wanted to mention was this:If you have already cut her hair and you're having fits over it OR even if you haven't cut it yet and it's curly/frizzy, you should get on YouTube and look up the Curly Girl Method. It's a way to make naturally curly or wavy hair soft, manageable, and beautiful. The short description is that you would cut out sulfate shampoos and silicones. Honestly, if I could go back to Jr. High and tell myself one thing, how to care for my frizzy hair might be it.That said, you may not be able to strictly follow the Curly Girl Method where you live. My town has very hard water, which builds up mineral deposits in my hair. I wash with a sulfate shampoo once a week to get rid of the hard water buildup, then “co-wash” with a sulfate-free conditioner wash (As I Am Coconut Co-Wash) once or twice in between. I've seen a huge improvement in my hair over the last few months since I changed my hair routine.I know that Shea Moisture has a line of sulfate-free hair products for kids. You can order them on Amazon, Walmart, or from Sally Beauty.Good luck, I hope this helps!Edit: I thought I'd let you see my huge, unruly hair from my childhood, albeit in a blurry, scanned picture:
