Is There A Way To Just Have Internet On Your Phone

Can you use Roku without the internet?

Yes. The only device that needs to be connected to the internet is the Roku, itself. If you have a Roku Stick model, it will connect via your WiFi and get power from either an available USB port on your tv, or connected to a power adapter. If your Roku isn’t a Stick model, it may have an Ethernet port. If it does, it’s always preferable to wire it to your router. If not, all Roku models can connect wirelessly.

HOw to block internet on cell phone?

I just got off the phone with an AT&T representative about this issue but I didnt like their solution. THe problem I'm having is accidentaly pressing the internet button and not even knowing it. I have a Samsung Sync flip phone and have tried locking the keypad and changing the button layout but i cant change the button layout to the internet button. The representative told me i could end the internet service but it would end my texting as well and i still want my texting. If anyone knows a way to either change the button or disable the internet button, or change the way i connect to the internet so that it has an error.. it would be greatly appreciated. (sorry for the confusing way i wrote this)

How can you get WiFi without internet?

You buy a wireless router and power it up. By default, most home wireless routers are manufactured with WiFi enabled. The WiFi network name (SSID) and pass phrase should either be on the router’s label or in the user guide. There should also be a password that will allow you to log on to the router’s settings and change them, including changing the WiFi name and encryption details. Changing WiFi settings is best done from a PC connected by Ethernet. If you change WiFi settings over a WiFi connection and make a mistake, you may not be able to use the WiFi until the error is corrected. The ports on the router that normally provide the connection to the Internet are left unused.

Do I need an internet provider to use wifi?

Your internet and your network are two separate things. Your internet must be provided by an ISP (Internet Service Provider,) which is usually a monthly fee, otherwise the network you create will only allow you to connect to other devices connected to your network via either ethernet cable or wifi. (An ethernet cable being that thing that kinda looks like a bigger version of an old phone line cable. It carries the connections between computers and such inside your home, and is basically the wired version of wifi.) To my knowledge, there is no way to legally get permanent internet from a provider, and no way to get internet at all without one.Once you have your internet connection from your ISP, make sure you get either a modem/router/wifi access point combo, or any form of those three. The modem part is needed to get the internet into your network (as it will likely be brought into your space of living through a coaxial cable and not an ethernet cable at first.) The router is needed to control what information goes to which devices that are connected to the network, so that you don’t send the information for your download to the wrong device. The wifi access point is needed to actually send and receive the wifi signal to and from your devices. A lot of devices advertised as routers are all three combined, but it is generally a good idea to make sure what you get is everything you need because it is still possible to get them all as separate devices and it would really suck to think you’re getting everything you need only to get home and find out that you only bought a router. Also check what comes with your internet package as some ISP’s do provide modem/router/access point combos with their internet.

Can I just buy a router if I have internet plug in/cable?

If you are connecting to "xfinitywifi", that is comcast's hotspot. In order to connect to it, you need to register the device with an xfinity account. Once it is registered, it will connect without needing to login.

As to connecting a router, that would depend on whether there is an ethernet connection availble to you. Although you can use most wireless routers as a wifi extender, most do not have an easy way to register it with xfinity.

If internet is provided by your landlord, they should provide you with a password for the wifi.

Why does the internet need a WiFi network to work? Why can't we just have it built-in?

The answers so far were correct but I don't think they addressed the source of your confusion. The internet is a global network of linked computers. What this means is that for you to have internet service you need to have an internet connection. Without a connection you cannot receive service. You can think of this like connecting your house to your national water network. Without pipes running into your house you can't get water. Without connection there's no service. Now there are many many ways to connect to the internet, one of them is WiFi. The most common one in the 90's, when the internet's popularity skyrocketed, was a phone line connection. You'd literally take a phone line like most people have at home nowadays and connect to your computer like you connect a wired mouse. After some tinkering and setting up (it wasn't as easy back then) you'd have internet access though the telephone line.WiFi is another way to connect your devices. What WiFi does is eliminate the need for a wire to run to your device. It works wirelessly. But how does it connect to the internet? What does it connect to? If we run with the water network analogy, where are the pipes here? Well, WiFi doesn't work "by itself". A WiFi connection in the middle of the Sahara desert won't connect to anything and you won't have an internet service. WiFi connects to some device that is already connected- usually with a telephone wire, just like in the 90's. I'd bet you have a router in your home that's connected through a phone line to the internet. Your computer/cellphone/any other WiFi device connects through WiFi to the router. Without the router with the wired connection you'll have no internet.Another popular connection these days is cellular. This isn't new but up until the last 7-10 years was not fast enough to use instead of wired connections. All this connection does is use the vast cellular network (that your cellphone can connect to) to connect to the internet. In this case the cellular antennas act like a router. So to answer your question now- you can't have the internet "built in" a device because the internet is a huge network of computers. You have to be continuously connected to it to have internet service. What you do have in your device are ways to connect to the internet. This is already built in! You have WiFi, cellular, you can use USB and many many other ways.
