Is There A Weight Limit To United Airlines Carry On Luggage And Personal Item

Carry ON Luggage for United Express/skywest Airlines?

Though the information in the answer above is good, the chance of you being able to take any of that stuff on United Express is very very slim. The answer didn't mention that Skywest flies Embraer 135/140, and smaller CRJ's. That means that there is NO overhead space for anything bigger than a small backpack or laptop bag. All over carry on bags will be manually gate checked by the gate crew when you board the plane.

I've flown on dozens of these planes in the past, and all of the operators have done the same thing to me when it comes to checking my bag!

United Airlines International Baggage Limit Question?

If you are flying International with United on an Economy ticket here are some links from United web site, the max load per bag is 50 (23 Kg). You will also only be allowed one checked bag for free unless you have a status membership, the second bag going to Europe will cost you $70.

You are also allowed to have one carry on and one personal item like a laptop or small camera bag, there is no limit listed for weight restrictions on carry on unless you are traveling in Asia and the Middle East (they like duty free) but if your bag appears to be to large or heavy they may require you to weigh it and discard items if they feel it is unsafe.

Carry on baggage weight limit?

Most airlines do not have a weight limit for carry on, unless you are flying in a very small plane.

I was in a "puddle jumper" plane (short hops, seats about ten people), and they had to ask people to get off because their combined bags were too heavy.

Confused about United Airlines's carry-on baggage policy?

"United Airlines will permit one bag plus one personal item (see below), per customer to be carried on the aircraft.

The maximum combined linear measurement (length + width + height) of carry-on bags must not exceed 14 inches x 9 inches x 22 inches (23 x 35 x 56 cm) or 45 linear inches (114 cm).

... In addition to one carry-on item, you may bring one personal item, such as a shoulder bag, backpack, laptop bag or other small item (no larger than 9 inches x 10 inches x 17 inches, or 36 linear inches)."

I have a rolling duffle bag (carry-on) that is barely less than 45 linear in. and I also want to bring a backpack (<36 linear in.). However the second sentence has me confused.

Is a backpack (personal item) counted towards the 'carry-on bags' that is being referred to in the sentence?
As in, do I count the personal item's linear measurement on top of the carry-on item? I am just confused because technically a backpack is something you carry onto the plane but the third sentence does not refer to the backpack as a carry-on item, but instead as a personal item.

Anyone able to clarify this for me?

What are the United Airlines rules for carry-on liquids?

So this is how it works:The airline does not actually care what you bring on the plane. Usually it's the airport security's job to filter out what you can bring into the airport, but usually you cannot bring foods and liquirs into an airport. You can happily buy something from something from the stores inside the airport.

United Airlines baggage allowance?

I am traveling economy with united airlines and from what I understand you can have a purse/backpack, carryon, and one checked bag under 50lbs free of charge. It this correct?

How many luggage are allowed in international flights and what should be their maximum weights and dimensions?

That depends on a lot of factors in india-Sector - domestic or international. The first one has limit of 15 KGS while the latter has limit of 23 KGS for checked in luggage and 7 KGS for cabin bag. The size of the bag is 42 inches for checked in bag and UpTo knee length for cabin bagClass - economy, business or first. Economy has 2 bag limit of above sizes in international flight and 1 bag limit in domestic. The limit increases with upper class as I know that first class is entitled to 4 bags of 50kgs each and business class is allowed 2 or 3 bags of 40 KGS each.Airline - budget or full service. SpiceJet is a budget airline which allows only hand bags as free luggage. For everything else you have to pay just like JetBlue in USA charges for luggage according to number of bags after a limit. On the other hand air India or jet allows limit on weight after which additional weight has to be paid for just like any other airline in the world.Cumulative factors - a mix of all three. Please check with airline as well coz policy changes according to demands, flight capacity and season of traveling.Example - I have traveled with 4 bags, 2 checked in and 2 cabin bags during off season in Emirates in their A380 but when 777 is in service that too with full bookings for a route, they don't allow this kind of luggage. And when students leave for USA during July August, some airlines provide 3 bags limit as compared to 2 at normal times. Thus, make a call at service centre of the airline and confirm the current policy with them.
